Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Wow! Thanks everyone for your feedback!! This thread is GREAT, and it moves FAST!

I had no idea that WTEWYE was such a downer! I really had nothing to compare it too, though, I guess. It does have a peculiar way of alarming you right from the beginning. I think I'll let DH hold onto that one and will purchase some of the books rec'd here and will try to use them as reference only, rather than cover to cover reading.

Good to know about the maternity clothes. A few nights ago, I was about to order 3 tops from MM!!! They are summer shirts, that I think would be good for work! I'll try to hold off for a little while longer!
3.gif

Kimberly - Has it helped to turn the books over to DH?

Mara - 12 weeks sounds like a good plan, although I don't know if I will be able to hold out that long!! I don't know. I'll have to see how I feel about things by then. The only reason I want to work part-time is that I feel like this is the best job for me, and I do not want to lose it! I think ideally, though, for us, I would be a SAHM for at leasts 2 years.

RPS67 - I'm a bit on the crunchy side myself, so I appreciate your rec's. Have all of your births been natural/without meds?

MP - Sorry you were having a rough day yesterday. I've suffered from depression/anxiety in the past, and I KNOW how everything in the world can seem just not right when you are feeling that way. How you feel inside really colors the way you see the world. Glad you'll be talking to the MW. Get lots of rest this weekend too!

Swimmer!!! - I'm so happy to be here!

It's funny hearing about the bella band from a teacher's perspective! I am pretty well concealed by a nice big desk all day, but I think I will give the bella band a go, when needed. I remember reading that you got closed out of a class, but I somehow missed that it was hypnobirthing. I read on the site for the class that I would like to take, that the earliest one would start is 20 weeks. I think I will e-mail her next week though, just to see how early people start making reservations. She teaches at 3 different hospitals and even offers home classes (for quite a bit more.) I'll mention that book ("Einstein Never Used Flashcards") to my DH too. He is very excited, but it is interesting how he seems to be all over the place. Last night, he told me that he can't wait to start helping him or her or THEM (?!) with their schoolwork. He also wants to build a changing table instead of buying one
20.gif
- he likes to build things. He said he wants to make sure it is the right height - lol. And, he's talking about retrofitting the bathroom sink in the future baby room into a baby bath sink/permanent fixture, which would be changed out for a pedestal later, which is an idea I actually kind of like. He is all over the place, but so I am, I guess, just different places, so it all works out! When are you due?

Vesper - Thanks for your reply! Fortunately, any bonus and/or increase will occur this month, so I don't have to worry about that. I think I would like the Lesley Regan book. I'll put on my half.com order this weekend!

Congrats to anchor,

and any other new moms I missed!

Great belly shots today! Where are all the others? I kind of miss being pregnant, and wanted to relive it through you guys...

I don''t get to check this thread as often as before. Just wondering who''s next on the waiting list/getting ready to deliver?

ladies..cute cute bellies!!!

steph, seriously you are barely showing!!
qt, you have such an adorable belly, and YAY for FT!!
MP, you look great!

doctor update... belly is measuring 35.5 weeks, but dr says things look fine. she said if i birthed today he''d prob be about 5+ lbs, so a little smallish. cervix is soft, 50% effaced, no dilation, and head is at station -2. she said he is very low, she could feel his head, and that he would not budge, so she thinks he is in a good position.

we saw the US...it''s so funny how big he is now! head filled the screen. butt filled the screen. we saw a big eye and a nose. testicles, butt cheeks. leg, ankle and toes... also hand up near the head and a thumbs up. haha. it''s crazy how giant he looked but he is still only 5lb-ish!! maybe he is long.

she said to have sex, eat pineapple and walk if i want him out early hahaa.
3.gif
i am so excited to know things are starting to happen.

oh ginger i asked about the hiccups and she said that is totally fine and she said that the cord didn''t look wrapped or anything..she said that she had not heard the ''cord wrapping'' & hiccups correlation before so that''s good news!!

Very close Mara.

Are you 35 weeks? If so, happy 35/35!

Hiccups occurred daily with Sophia both in ute and out. She gets hiccups twice a day: once in the AM and once around 4.

thanks fiery! i am actually 36 weeks and 6 days..so just about 37. so she said i am measuring a little small but not much. i have been measuring small since week 24 so i was expecting that anyway. but i wish he was kind of bigger than ~5 for now!

this kid gets the hiccups at LEAST 3-4x a day if not more...it''s kind of crazy!! yesterday he got them 2x in less than an hour.

Mara, better start loading up on pineapple! Lol! How exciting, you are SO close.

Where are the rest of the belly pics, ladies? Steph, qtiekiki and I can''t possibly be the only ones that still love the belly hehe. BPF is seriously my favorite part of the week.

I will post mine as soon as I get home in about 1 hour.

I left my cell in my car, and it is too cold to walk to the parking garage 2 blocks away to get it.

Went to doctor appt today.  GBS test came back negative.  OB looked at me during the internal, and I said “nothing”.  He said you are fingertip dilated.  Then I said well it was like that last time even at the 39 weeks appt, and then I gave birth 4 days later.  He said I guess you are not worried then.  Hehe.  I am definitely not as worried about not being dilated this time around.  The baby will come when he’s ready.  I gained two pounds this week, putting my total weight gain at 31lbs.  That was my total last pregnancy, so I’ll probably gain more weights this time.  But I did start out 3lbs later this time, so I guess it all even out.  The HB was fine.

Mara
Did your doctor tell you what the average weights of a 36 or 37 weeks baby?  I am just curious since our u/s last week estimated the baby to be 5lbs 15oz.  My doctor said that''s on the small size, but that''s bigger than the average on babycenter.
I will probably start walking daily starting in a week.  I think walking really help me last time, but I also don''t want the baby too early.  So next week it is.

Ditto MP on belly pics. Come on ladies.

Maybe I''ll post a collage of all my weekly belly pics when I get home, if I have time.

QT...no she didn''t say what ''typical'' is but i just assumed based on babycenter updates that he should be more like 6+ at this point. but the dr wasn''t worried at all re: sizing and she said he looked good. i wish he was 5/15... then he''d be like 6! but wow, honestly he feels so big in my belly...i am like how will he feel when he is 1lb or 1.5lbs heavier??? i already feel so full up top.

i''ll try to get an iphone pic later of my belly. hehe.

Ginger, your stories are always so funny...haha to the Twilight pregnancy scene!

QT, you look great and looks like you have dropped!

Tao, I've heard that one is funny...I might go get it to have something to read my last few weeks.

Skippy, aww thank you! Can't wait to join you guys in the HLT soon!

Loves Vintage, good luck finding maternity clothes...I also found that it was better to try things on b/c different store sizes fit differently on. And I was in mat. pants by 8 weeks and felt so much better with elastic!

Sha, I think cello is next on the list.

Puffy, thank you!

Mara, I wouldn't worry about him being on the small side either....ours gained almost a full pound between ultrasounds a week apart, so maybe they are just putting on weight later in the game. I'm going to start walking next week too. Oh, and didn't know about pineapple, but I might just stock up!

mara you are getting close!!! glad to hear things are starting to move along for you. sounds like you mom''s psychic might be right, eh?

qt fingertip dilated is progress. you''re right, he will come when he''s ready.

Loves Vintage, I''m glad you''re crunchy too! It''s been a very long process for me to get here and not all of my labors have been unmedicated. With my first, I had Stadol in my IV. Hated it because it made me feel drunk and totally out of control. My 2nd came too fast -- my labor was less than 2 hours long, and she was born 30 minutes after we got to the hospital. Honestly, I really didn''t have much pain at all with her! With my 3rd, I planned to go without meds and did, so no biggie there. Then with my 4th, I had an epidural because it was late at night, I wasn''t making progress and I thought it would be good for me to sleep. She was born an hour after the epidural was placed and I found out that I really, really hated not being able to get up right away, not feeling my legs for like 4 hours and worst, not being able to feel how I should push! And then my 5th was born at home, so no meds were available and I didn''t even think about them!

I''m convinced that going unmedicated works for me because I''m a total type A personality. I *need* to be in control so if I''m not drugged up in any way, I''m happiest and able to work through any pain that comes my way. I also LOVE the high that comes from giving birth without meds -- it''s amazing how great you can feel after all that hard work, but I guess it''s like running a marathon or similar physical competition. I wish I could give every pregnant woman a taste of what that feels like -- if you could bottle it, there would be a lot of anestesiologists out of work.
9.gif

Mara, have I told you before about the study I read that said that mothers are able to guess their baby''s weight the best? I tried googling for it, but failed (argh). I think it came out a bit over 3 years ago. Before Will was born, I guessed that he''d be 8 lb. 2 oz. and he was 8 lb. 4 oz., and I''ve asked other friends to guess too to see how close they were. Sure enough, they were pretty darn close.

Point is -- if you think your little guy is bigger, he probably is! Then again, you look pretty petite in your pics, so maybe you''re hiding a small one in there. I love itty bitty babies because they''re just so stinkin'' cute!

Kimberly, I hated the Girlfriend''s Guide, too. It makes me feel like such a radical to say that, but while it was entertaining at times, I thought some of it was really demeaning toward women. I much prefer books that send the message that women ARE strong and CAN do whatever they set their minds to.

MP, you look terrific!

Steph, I can''t believe you''re at 37 weeks! You carry a pregnancy very well -- I''d be so happy to be smaller.

QT, uh oh! If your timer went back in does that mean that you have a lot longer to go?
9.gif
Your belly is so cute!

Still nothing new with me! I could go any time or I could drag this out for another 5 weeks.

The good news is that I had my review for work today and my boss said I had a terrific year, so I was really happy. I truly love my job, even after being there almost 3 years. My boss and coworkers are awesome, the work I do is interesting (for the most part), I''m well paid and the perks -- like working at home -- are considerable. I would be devastated if something happened to either the company or the job.

I feel kind of weird when I go into the office because I''m so huge, but everyone is so sweet about it. Some of the guys do like to pat/rub my belly and it doesn''t bother me when they do it, probably because they''re like brothers to me. All of them have to come by and ask if I''m doing ok or if I need anything.

So, tonight, I think we might go out to the Chinese Buffett for dinner to celebrate a good review. I''m thinking I could go for a whole mess of crab legs.

LovesVintage, turning over the books has been a very good thing for me. I want to know what I need to know, but I don''t want excess information, especially not information that is going to worry me needlessly. My OB runs a small practice, just her, an NP, a nurse, and a front desk person, so I know them all and if I have any questions I just calll and ask or I have my husband look up what I want to know. Sometimes I use the internet as a resource, but I try not to do so very often, too much misinformation.

So I''m 3 days into this diet and I miss frozen yogurt. I am in no rush for this kid to be born, but I''m really going to be happy when I can eat normally again.

LV - Yep, I did the hypnobirthing course. It was ok, nothing earth-shattering. It was nice and relaxing and good for DH to see videos of births. He probably got more out of it than I did, since I spent my time in med school convinced I was going to go into ObGyn, and did 2 months in it as a resident. I didn''t have any questions about how things worked. I also found it hard to do some of the hypnosis exercises - I''m not sure I''m very susceptible. But the instructor said it was a good thing that I always feel like I fall asleep during the one relaxation script. I don''t think I''ve managed to listen to it from start to finish yet. I need to get my act in gear and start practicing the three types of breathing, and need to practice some of the scripts with DH. I''ve heard other people say that they''ve gotten the same basic stuff out of a self-teach kit called hypnobabies that you can get through amazon (I think). I don''t regret doing the course, and I think DH enjoyed it. There was only one other couple in ours, so we didn''t get to meet that many other preggos, but in a class of 3-5 couples, you might have a little more fun.

MP - nice belly!

PB - I had a lot of nasty cervical/vaginal pressure and lots of right lower abdo pains I think around that time. The pressure has strangely gotten better over time, and my cervix did absolutely nothing at all with it. If you were having pressure and noticing tightenings, I''d say to go see your doctor for reassurance. But otherwise, I think it''s normal.

Steph - wow, I almost feel like my belly is catching up to yours at only 32 weeks, and I know my little one is smaller than usual too. Since yours is growing well on the ultrasounds, you must have some strong abs or something - you''re hiding him well!

Ginger - you tease! It''s never too late for at least one belly shot! Glad he''s entertaining you on rounds :) I''m sure everyone in the OR thinks I''m weird when I sit on my chair with my hand partway in my pants (I still keep the scrubs top tucked in to the pants, with the waistbad around my belly button, because it''s cold and drafty in those ORs), feeling the kicks and punches and pushing back at her to play a little.

QT - you''re all tummy, and tiny everywhere else.

RPS - sounds like you''ve got an ideal job. I wish my work were so flexible!

Meresal - you''re getting a little bump too - looks good!

Here''s my 32 week shot. I''m so grateful to have made it to this point! Sorry it''s so dark etc. I just don''t have photoshop on this computer, so I don''t know how to lighten it up. I don''t think I could suck in the gut as well this week...

32weeks.JPG

RPS: my doctor told me the same thing about moms knowing the weight better then the Dr.''s guesses. I guessed 7 lbs...my delivery doctor told me the baby would be between 7-8....he was 6 lbs 11 oz. I win...lol.

RPS - Very interesting about mother''s instinct on the baby''s birth weight. We filled out a fun survey about the baby on the first day of our childbirth class (this was for last pregnancy). Then the instructor mailed the survey back to us after our due date. I guessed Meena to be 7lbs 4oz on the survey, and she was 7lbs 1oz. I was pretty surprised that I was so close. I think this one will be 7lbs 6oz b/c I think he will be bigger than his big sister.

Meresal - cute bump. It''s slowly getting bigger.
drk - You can really see how long your torso is in this pic. Plenty of room for baby to grow. Adorable.

Hey ladies, quick drive by question: for those of you who had amnios, when did you return to work? I have an amnio next Wednesday and I am obviously taking the rest of the day off. Will I feel fine to return to work the next day? Or should I return Friday? Just trying to figure out what my schedule will be like so I can delegate earlier in the week. Also, any other amnio tips? I am so nervous!

Lindsey
No advices from me. But good luck.

Here''s the collage as promised, in 3 parts.

wow QT you totally dropped at week 34 i think!! i love your collages.
drk... i can totally see your belly now, you have grown a lot this week! your torso is amazingly long, i am so jealous...as my little one kicks up under my rib as i type this.
meresal, you are still so cute and tiny!!

rps... interesting re: the moms knowing the weight!! it could be that i just feel like he is big because of my short torso... or he could be really long and kind of wrapped up too. both greg and i were long babies. if i had to guess i would say he is closer to 5.5 or 6 but who knows. we'll see i guess! the dr also only guesstimated by palpitating my belly, she doesn't believe that the 36 week US is an accurate way to measure weight.

Lindsey...I think I posted a similar post to this somewhere else, it might have been to you a week or two ago, not sure. But re: amnio... I went to work the next day. Basically after the amnio I felt a little soreness and cramping and in particular, soreness around the needle entry point. Like when you pull a muscle really but a little bit more of a radiating pain. Which they said was normal given they puncture muscle, etc. The next day I felt pretty much fine, the entry point soreness went away in a few days. But don't worry if you are sore and achy afterwards, just rest.

Any tips...well they want you to stay relaxed which can be hard at the time. The needle was quite small. Because it is small (super thin), they needed to leave it in for almost one full minute to get all the liquid they needed. They took 2 vials of fluid from me. Also I was surprised at this, I don't know why in hindsight but they have to start a fair amt out from your body then jab it pretty hard into your belly to make it through skin, muscle, and uterus lining. And it's in the side bottom of your belly, not through your belly button or anything. But really it was over quite quickly.

I imagine you have done this already or will during your appt, but I asked our amnio doctor all his stats, how often he did amnios, what his personal success/failure rate was, etc before we proceeded. He was also SO knowledgeable and confident with his answers that we felt really comfortable. Just keep beathing steadily while the needle is in, I watched the screen and our normally active little guy was just laying on the bottom, the needle was not even near him. I only got a little panicky towards the end but that was mostly because the nurse was rubbing my feet AND Greg was patting my hand and both were making little soothing noises that actually just served to stress me out.

Best of luck, I know you will do great, it will be over before you know it and hopefully the results will be WONDERFUL.

Aww! I love the belly pics!!

QT~ That''s a great collage!!

SO, I have a quick question. Has anyone had pubic bone pane by 13 weeks?? Today it hurts so bad I can barely walk. With JT, my hips started hurting at 5-6 months and the pubic pain started in the 7th month. Isn''t this WAY early for this kind of pain? If anyone did have it, did it go away or did it last throughout pregnancy??

Hi everyone!

I hope you''re all having a good week. I decided that it''s high time I contributed to BPF. I don''t think I''ve even taken a picture since 24 weeks.

So, here I am in all my 40 week glory! Mr. Man is due tomorrow (my due date got changed a billion times).

I am so uncomfortable that I feel like I want to curl up in a ball and wake up when I go into labor.

Has anyone here gone overdue? What the heck did you DO with yourself? I feel like I want to scream. It''s miserable.

I stayed up until 2 a.m. last night talking with my Mum which was so nice. Bless her for staying up with my insomniac behind.

Off I go to have a late dinner after lazing around most of the day.

Cheers!

40 weeks oh my.jpg

Oh Cello,
I have to say you look great, but know the pain and discomfort you must be feeling.... Hoping you go into labor soon, I have no advice... My kids were born a few weeks early. DTD is what I have read, that and pineapple?? I dunno the ladies here will give you great advice. But wanted to say HI
35.gif
And wish you all the best going forward!!!!
36.gif

Thanks Kaleigh!

Me and DH tried to do the deed a couple of weeks ago and it was HILARIOUS! I actually ended up laughing hysterically (yeah I know. Good job. Poor DH''s ego). I''m just a beached whale, so it was so awkward.

We might give it a go again. It''s our anniversary on Tuesday. It''s the least I can do. Haha. ;-)

I missed BPF
36.gif
You all look WONDERFUL!!!

Aww, Cello you look so great! Sorry your so uncomfortable...hope you little one shows up very, very soon!

Drk, you look great. I do see a little belly, but you are so teeny tiny everywhere else...I for sure am not tiny everywhere else! My hubby was laughing at my feet the other day and said I really have no ankles...just goes feet straight to calf! The ultrasound tech said my little one was completely snuggled up under my ribs, so maybe that''s why my belly isn''t getting as big? You look really good though!
