Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

GingerB, I have the same problem/addiction to Target. I can never get out for under $50. Haha, I am slow these days too. Especially in the grocery store lugging a cart around. I have the urge to turn to the people behind me and say, "go ahead, this is going to take a while!"

cello, so close! Sending "come on out baby" thoughts your way!

I can''t believe how many of you are in the home stretch. Every time one of you has a baby I think, "Omg, I am that much closer TOO!" and have a freak out
20.gif
Still 12 weeks to go, I need a chill pill.

I have had some pressure the past few days that feels like it''s on my tailbone, which I injured as a child. It doesn''t always hurt - just if I have been sitting a long time - but it makes me feel like hunching over when I first stand up from a sitting position. Which is hard to deal with, since I have a desk job! And I want to sleep SO BAD. I wish I could sleep at night like I do during the day. Darn it!
40.gif

I like knowing what some of you have accumulated for the nurseries and for taking to the hospital. I feel like we have been waiting til the very end to start buying stuff, but no one wants me to buy anything because then THEY can''t buy me anything! Gah, that logic is getting old, and I think it is time to start buying stuff lol.

Mara- Congrats on another pregnancy in the family! Exciting!

Cello- I''m so sorry that you are still waiting. I hope that little one comes out soon! Sending labor vibes your way!

MP- We have been very bad about buying things. I did my registry just last week. We just don''t have the room to be buying things and keeping them at our apartment. I have bought some clothes here and there, but that is it. Until we made the leap, and ordered the crib last night.

What''s a "babymoon?"

Morning ladies.

Well, i guess your well wishes started something :-) Haha. This morning I woke up and was feeling quite damp below so I went to the toilet and heard the tinkle, but realized, that''s not pee. That''s not the right hole. haha. And my first morning urine is pretty yellow. This was clear.

I went to wipe and yay! Blood-tinged CM and then more and more and more ewcm consistency came out. Seriously, it was a TON! That was about half an hour ago. I put on a pad to see if anymore fluid is leaking, but it''s so super absorbant that I can''t tell. But, if anything else did come out, it''s definitely clear. So, I''m going to take the pad off and see if I soak through my panties again.

I made DH laugh. It''s our anniversary today and I went into his office and said "Happy Anniversary my love. My panties are wet, but it has nothing to do with you." He goes "DO WE HAVE TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL?!?!" Haha. . . he''s so cute and anxious.

Keep your fingers crossed. I know people can walk around for weeks after their bloody show. But, given that I''m already overdue, I''m pretty sure this is it (or will become it once I call my doc). I''ll give you an update when there is one to give.

Cheers.

Yay for hearing the HB.
Ditto everyone on not worrying about the weight gain. I think it usually all even out at the end, unless you are having milkshakes and ice cream everyday.

GingerB
I don’t know how you do it, being on your feet and walking. I am so ready to be out, which is way different than how I felt with the last pregnancy. But dr. says it’s normal for subsequent pregnancy to feel more heavy.
I washed all M’s newborn and 0-3 months clothes for the baby. I have 4 A+A swaddling blankets, 4 Carter’s receiving blanket from M (probably won’t be using these for swaddling) and 1 miracle blanket. I just have the 3 burp clothes from M; we never really needed them for her since she didn’t burped up anything or threw up. So I’m going to wait to see if this baby needs them before buying more. We have tons of blankets (well mostly pink ones for M), but only 2 – 3 are used regularly and that’s only b/c I waited for a good size load before doing M’s laundry. I do her laundry separately since she had really bad eczema when she was younger, and we use a different detergent, no softener and no dryer sheets for her.

Mara
Sounds like things are happening with the tightening and cramping. I think I am not very aware BH contractions b/c I don’t feel my belly tightening very often, and then sometimes my dr. would tell me he felt a contraction when he is examining me, but I don’t feel it.
Yesterday night, the baby was moving around and totally made my belly lopsided with one leg sticking out. DH was like “he is kicking you hard”. So funny.
We are the same way at Target. We go for one thing, and end up with $100 worth of things.

Cello
Hang in there. Hope things start moving for you. How long will your dr. let you go past due?

loveylulu
Your babymoon will be wonderful. Glad the headache isn’t as bad today.

RPS
It’s funny to read what some dr. say to their patients. I definitely rather not have a predicted date and then nothing happening.

Kimberly
Good luck on the house.

Steph
I wonder who’ll go next after cello too since you, Mara, RPS and I have EDD within a few days of each other. Almost seems like Mara might go first since she is getting contractions and cramping already. I don’t know but I didn’t really feel anything significant last pregnancy until I had bloody show, and I gave birth 25 hrs later (4 days before the due date).

MP
I don’t know if the pressure on your tailbone has anything to do with the childhood injury b/c I get that when I sit for more than an hour. So it could just be from the weights of the belly. I have to get up every hour to walk.
Sorry you can’t sleep at night. I’ve been waking up more at night lately, and it’s definitely not a good feeling.

Cello- YAYYYYY!! Happy Anniversary!!

What''s a ''babymoon?''

taking a vacation before the baby comes :]

thanks so much RPS for the advice. if i had more time, i would DEFINITELY do baby-led weaning. in fact, that''s kind of what i had planned on doing, but this pregnancy changes things. i wouldn''t even be THAT opposed to tandem nursing (i can''t believe i even wrote that b/c i used to be the type that thought that toddler nursing was obscene!!), but unfortunately (fortunately??!!) my ob is pretty against me continuing during the pregnancy. and that''s only b/c of my history with preterm labor...

i know most people are anxious for 1st trimester to pass, but i''m kind of dreading it b/c that''s my deadline to get this kid weaned.

the only good thing about weaning is that at least by bbs will stop hurting (nursing while pregnant is KILLING them!!).

GINGER: i''m a dermatologist. definitely MUCH easier than heme/onc. my only brush with ho was during internship in 2004 when i did a couple months on the heme/onc service. i really respect you guys!!! and can''t imagine doing it while preggo too...

MARA: not quite a real appt. more like dh calling the u/s tech and asking her to squeeze me in. even he wasn''t in there b/c he was doing a case.

CELLO: sending labor vibes your way!!

QT/Mara/Steph/RPS: hmmm...i''m betting on QT. no idea why!! :)

Jcrow~ oh. I''ve never heard of it. I can''t see how that would be any fun for me. Not being able to drink, have wild sex and stay out all night....may as well stay home. And there''d be NO way I''d put on a swimsuit towards the end of a pregnancy!

Fingers crossed Cello!!! What a funny story. If I were in your position I think I''d be jumping up and down to try to speed things up!

Cello
I was posting at the same time as you. Good luck. That would be an awesome anniversary surprise.
I think my dr usually you''ll go in labor within 1 or 2 days after bloody show, whereas it could be weeks if it''s just losing the MP. But don''t quote me on it.

Oh, Cello, how exciting!! The above sounds like something I would say! HILARIOUS!! Happy anniversary, too -- it sounds like you guys are getting quite a present this year.

My fingers are crossed for you and I''m wishing you a very easy and safe delivery!

I''m going to add this story from when I was pregnant with my 4th, just for anyone''s entertainment...

My husband at the time, now ex, had broken his leg and ankle when I was 5 months pregnant and gone through various surgeries, etc. By the time I was due, ex was finally able to sleep upstairs in our bed, but my tossing and turning caused him pain, so a lot of nights, I ended up sleeping with our son, who was almost 5 at the time. One night, right after my due date, I woke up soaking wet, thinking my water had broken. I got all excited...until I realized that no, our son had wet the bed. That was a bummer.

About Target: Thank heavens it''s not just me that can''t get out of there very easily! I always either think of things that I forgot we needed OR I find things that I can''t pass up. Some of their sale prices are crazy.

This reminds me of what I did last week. We went to Target and I was looking at swings/bouncers. I''ve had 1 swing that didn''t get used and no bouncers, but I think with a very active 3 year old, I need something to put the baby in when I can''t hold him/have him in the sling, etc. Target had a Boppy travel swing on clearance for just under $50, but it was only available in PINK. I asked SO what he thought and we decided to buy it because it''s not like the baby is really going to develop gender identity issues because of a pink band across the top of the swing, right?
9.gif

MP, I hate when people do that waiting stuff with buying for the baby! The other thing that bugs me is when they buy non-practical stuff, like a 3 piece suit for an infant. Please, I''d much rather have diapers than something the kid will get no use out of. I''m not sure what the weather is like where you are, but if you can lay in the basics for the first week or so, you may find that taking the baby out to buy other things that you want is a really good way to get yourself out of the house.

What we have is so minimalist, it''s almost ridiculous. We do have enough clothing that this baby could stay in 0-3 month clothes for the first year and not wear anything out. I was a bit of a shopper with our 3 year old, lol. I have a big box of diapers, loads of blankets because it''s been cold here, the car seat and a snuggy thing that goes in it, some pacifiers, the swing (that''s still in the box) and little health things like a digital thermometer and the nose sucky thing.

Ginger, I think you can feel better knowing that pretty much all moms go through what you''re going through! I''m sure you''re going to be just fine!

I hate to bring up the circumcision topic since it''s one that can REALLY get ugly, but I figured I''d share our experience since your DH hasn''t decided. I had my older boys done and SO''s older son was done -- all 3 were because it was just something that was expected at the time (they''re 20, 14 and 13). When I was pregnant with our 3 year old, I did some checking and since the current recommendation is that it''s not medically necessary, I felt that was the right choice. To be blunt, I have known some men who were uncirced and they were quite happy about it. The one thing that troubled me was that I don''t want to make a choice for my son that he may not agree with later -- it''s sort of like having a baby girl''s ears pierced. Of course, I don''t know any circumsized men personally that really thought twice about whether it was good or bad that their parents had it done for them, but I figured it was better to err on the side of caution.

At first, SO was really adamant about having it done. I asked him to give me ONE good reason, backed up with medical literature, and he couldn''t. His reasons were purely emotional. I also reminded him that since we were having a homebirth, we''d have to find someone to do it afterward and pay for it. I don''t know that anything I said actually got through to him or if he let it go because it was the path of least resistence, but DS isn''t circed and this boy won''t be either. We haven''t had any problems keeping DS clean and I don''t anticipate any issues with teaching DS to keep himself clean as he gets older.

QT, I''m going to hang out and let Mara go first, LOL!

I decided today that I don''t want this baby to be born before Jan. 20 because I''d rather have an aquarius than a capricorn. I have 2 libras, who are as mellow as possible, and then a gemini, taurus and aries, who are not. I need another mellow kid!

You know what''s bad? I got on Facebook to send a message to my one friend and got busted by MY MOTHER. I showed her the other week how to use the chat feature and as soon as I got on there today, a chat window pops up with "I guess training is going ok if you have time to be on FB!" Really, Mom! Training is only from 4-5 today, I''m all prepared for it and right now I''m in the middle of running QA tests, so it''s ok if I take a break and look at FB. Even my boss is a friend on there and he''s on as much as I am during the day. I''m 42 and my mother is getting on my case still. Some things never change.

Cello- Thinking of you! Hang in there, baby will be here soon :) Wishing you a smooth and safe delivery! In the mean time I hope the couch is comfy enough for you

i have to say though, i''m feeling overwhelmed. def this is late in the game to be getting ready, but work put me in this crazy predicament and now i''m feelling panick-y. i feel like i may be over thinking things.

like the clothes, how much do you wash in advance? up to the 0-3 mos? waht about the 3-6 mos clothes? how do you what you''ll use?

how many blankets does he really need (therefor how many do i wash?)

how many burp clothes should I have ready?

what should i have most handy on the changing table (butt cream, wipes, diapers, lotion) -- am i missing something?

my control freak need-to-plan-in-advance craziness is rearing it''s ugly head and i know i can''t know and plan for everything perfectly and it''s freaking me out!! i need help
14.gif
Ginger I felt the exact same way right before Wesley was born. In a panic, and quizing my mom for last minute info and instruction
3.gif
A few things I can think of.

-Have some Newborn sizes on hand incase you have a small baby.
-Wash all youre 0-3mo clothes, youll use them. Unless you just think u have WAY too many.
-Dont worry about 3-6mo clothes yet. You have time before u need those.
-Blankets- i have 4 A&A swaddling blankets, 2 warm flannel blankets, a hand full of cheapie flannel receiving blankets. I liked to have a couple in different weights so i''m ready if its cold, warmer, at night or day. At leadt have a few washed and you can wash more later as u see how u use them.
-Changing table- Put some of you''re undershirts, full onsies, and nightgowns on the table too. that way u have right there when u realize the baby messed his clothes as well as the diaper and needs a change of clothes.
-burp cloths- I washed a pack of those Gerber cloth diapers and had 5 other nicer ones from gifts and Im still always searching for a burp cloth! Haha! So i guess it would be a good idea to have a couple stashed around the house. Where you feed baby, by the couch, in your room.

Just remember that hubby can always run to the store for you
9.gif
good luck and enjoy!

De-lurking to say good luck Cello-hope this is an awesome anniversary present!!!

Re: circumcision We also decided not to. As long as your kid is living in a safe place and practicing good hygiene and safe sex it really isn''t an issue to be uncircumcised. We felt it was pretty mean and didn''t provide enough of a benefit to make it worthwhile for us so both my boys are not circumcised. We haven''t had any issues and neither has my DH.

It''s a personal decision of course and everyone should do their own research and decide what''s best for their family.

omg RPS re: aquarius, you are like my mom! she wants this baby to be an aq so bad. she is like DON'T YOU DARE DROP HIM BEFORE JAN 21. haha. she wants to put me on bed rest. actually from what i have read, aq boys are really mellow so i would love that too. i don't know many cap's but i don't know any BAD ones so i kind of figure that is ok too haha.

we're circumsising, so i guess we'll stay in the hospital an extra day for that.

oh and add me to the people who don't like having to wait to get stuff. most people told me though that people like to get you CUTE STUFF and not really necessities and that was the case for the most part. i got 99% of the stuff i needed from my reg and i returned duplicates to get more basics but like no one got us wipes or diapers or bottle stuff really. i got a few breastfeeding things but just pads and shields, nothing like the storage bags etc. we got a lot of cute blankets and stuff, and a ton of stuffed animals etc, things you don't need. a lot of toys. so if you guys want to buy some of your necessary items you are prob fine. and i updated my 'registry' every time i purchased something to make sure no one else did.

oh and yes another pet peeve is the full on NB outfit. we got a bunch of those and i was like really?

Cello happy anniversary!!! and YAY for something happening!!

about an hour ago i had one of those weird hot flash episodes, ugh! i went totally hot and sweaty and i mean sweaty, and a little shaky and higher heart rate. i was in my third meeting of the day, had to go to the bathroom and practically undress until i felt better. i think it was low blood sugar since i had breakfast earlier today and i have been so busy i didn't have a chance to eat again (i eat 2x in the morning). i ate some fruit (PINEAPPLE) and felt better.

oh and ginger i got the waterproof pads at walmart but target has them too. i also found some at marshalls. my girlfriend said she used them like crazy and was always washing them.

Mara - we chose to circ and didn''t have to stay an extra day. It literally took 5 minutes and it was done the morning we left (discharged late afternoon).

oh good to know cdt..i am not sure what our hospital does but most people told me they wait til next day to send them home. i guess we''ll find out!

Our hospital doesn''t allow either parent to go. Which I think is a good thing, because my DH would probably pass out
9.gif
Not sure if any of your friends have mentioned anything though, but we were shocked at how painful it *looked* after it was done. Lex never showed any signs of being pain, but it sure looked like it hurt. It took a week before it started to look normal. Just wanted to prepare you, because my DH and I were not! OH and my DH wouldn''t put the vaseline on it (you have to keep it lubed up
3.gif
), so I had to do it. I think he was too tramatized by the way it looked.

Ok, we chose to circumsize. We had thought it through, I read research about why NOT to circumsize, and I still decided that we wanted to do it. I have to say though, when he came back from getting the circ, I was waiting in the hospital room and I could hear his cry as he came down the hall. It broke my heart! I was thinking, what did I do to my baby! And then looking at his poor little parts for the next week pained me. Sometimes I wondered why we did it.

BUT, I''m still glad we did. I read that an uncircumsized boy just has to take care to wash properly down there just like a girl has to. But when I think about little boys, I can''t see them taking the time to wash properly. haha! But anyways, that was our decision and even though it was painful the first week, I''m still glad we did it.

JT didn''t have to stay due to the circumcision. However, the hospital did the ring (plastibell) as opposed to a cut. My sis and SIL''s boys had classic circs and none of them stayed either.

With the ring, it''s slid on between the foreskin and the rest of the member. After a few days, the skin dies and falls off. There is no vaseline, gauze pads, or any normal stuff from a classic circ. JT did have a problem with the ring though. Part of the skin pulled away well before the rest. The ring slid over the head and wouldn''t allow urine to pass. I kept having to push the ring back down and wait for the other skin to loosen and then used a cotton swab to basically pry off the ring where it had scabbed over. I''m sure it was not comfortable to do that, but it was over within seconds and he was much better.

Oh HARSH lol poor dad! They do make you stay an extra day for it here, too. I think we will be getting little Micah circ - I''d hate to do something "wrong" and then he has issues with it later. I would not forgive myself.

I think I may start accumulating the necessary stuff. Buying a different size box of diapers a payday, getting a bunch of the basic white onsies in several sizes, bottles, that sort of thing. I know most of what I will end up with is "cute" stuff, and as much as I am looking forward to that, I know I need other things more!

I am totally buying this though:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=38374969

My mean monkey got an ice cube to the elbow today, because he was SERIOUSLY hurting my belly. He tends to lay on the left side of my stomach and he constantly has an elbow (at least I think that''s what it is - it''s pointy and sharp!) just to the left of my belly button. I think I have complained about that here before, lol. I kept pushing at him and it wasn''t helping, so a co-worker gave me an ice cube. After holding it there for a minute he scooted right on over to the right side of my belly and I feel so much better lol. Poor baby.

cello - good luck! how exciting and I love your delivery of the news

monkeypie - that hat is so cute!

Circ: We had Evan circumsized..my husband isn''t and he has issues with it and always wished that he was. We were invited in the room but chose not to. We never heard him cry and he never had any issues from it. It healed up quickly and never looked that painful.

good luck Cello!

BWHAHAHA! I feel much better knowing that I''m not the only one thinking this. Yay for your mom! She cracks me up -- I''m sure the last thing you want is bed rest, lol.

More about circ:

With my 2 older boys, it didn''t require any extra time in the hospital. It was done pretty quickly and they were brought to me right after to nurse. Neither one seems to have suffered any ill effects from it psychologically. I did keep them very lubed up (LOL) when they were healing and it didn''t seem like a big deal at the time.

I guess that''s why I''m kind of apathetic and it seems easier to leave well enough alone. There are bad stories on both sides, so it seems to be like so much else -- you can''t win when you''re making a parenting decision!!

The only thing that *really* bothers me about it is that we don''t know exactly how much pain the baby feels. I have yet to hear a man who says he remembers having it done, but then I think well, I don''t want to cause my baby ANY pain. I''m a wuss like that. I hate shots for the same reason, but given the clear benefits that I see for vax, I do those.

I think this is the only parenting decision that I''m wishy-washy on.

=======

I got out of the training session today because one of the participants put us on hold -- which flooded the conference call with lovely music. No one could identify who did it since most of us were remote. Now the training session will have to be rescheduled, but that''s ok. It was good for a laugh.

okay, i''m making this plea again - can someone recommend some good non-maternity maternity clothing that worked/is working for your pregnancy? not so much pants, but dresses and shirts or just stores in general would be so much appreciated.
