Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

This is just too ironic after the time off work mid-pregnancy for my preterm labour and irritable uterus worries! 41.5 weeks today. We''ll see how long the doc will let it go when I have my appointment tomorrow. Don''t want to push them into inducing tomorrow if that''s not what they want to do, but that may be what they suggest. Hopefully I''ll be like some of the other women I know and will go into labour just before they plan to induce me, since I don''t really want to be tied to the bed with monitors that would be needed if I were put on a pitocin drip. I sure hope I don''t get to the 42 week mark though! Can''t be much longer now...

you never know DRK you could be one of those women that advances quickly with a pitocin...i was 2cm when admitted and went to 10 in just under 6 hours and my friend who just had a baby last week was 2cm when admitted and went to 10 in 2 hours on pitocin!!
2.gif
i thought for sure we''d be there FOREVER like most people but nope..thank goodness.

oh and i always thought whenever people posted their stories...like ''wow 8 or 10 hours waiting to get to 10cm, that must be interminable!!''...well my 6 hours waiting to get to 10 went by REALLY fast. i had no idea it was even that long. time just flies when it''s all happening..or it did for me anyway. between being checked in, asked 100 questions, getting IV drug, then the epi, then being checked every so often and asked more questions, and then just trying to relax etc, suddenly it''s like OOPS you are at 10, lets get ready to push!!!

oh and didn''t sabine go to 42 weeks or just slightly over like 1 day??

thinking of you Dr. Kate - come on baby girl
36.gif
36.gif

Lindsey - so glad that you popped in and that is incredibly good news about you and Andrew! Hope that next weeks needles are a bit kinder to your veins.

Charger - hurray for being *definitely* pregnant. It''s nice to reach a point beyond the "is she or isn''t she?"

and thanks again for all the good thoughts about our pup. He''s recovering really well, though he has to wear his plastic collar for a while to prevent him from irritating his stiches/staples and I know that''s no fun
14.gif

Drk- Good luck today!!
9.gif

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Good to hear from your Lindsey! So gla to hear things are going well!

I had a friend''s Bachelorette Party. We spent the whole weekend at a beach house, and layed by the beach club pool all afternoon on Saturday. It was almost 80 degrees the whole day!!
36.gif
With that said, the fun in the sun zapped all my energy, and when I arrived back home to hubby at 12:30 yesterday, I fell onto the couch and slept for 2 whole hours. lol. I woke up and DH was cleaning the apartment... my parents come this week for my baby shower next weekend!!!
9.gif

Now, I am unfortunately back at work. I hate it.

MP- How you doing lady??

i will catch up with everyone later...BUT...just had a quick u/s for baseline cervical length, and they are 75% sure it''s a....

GIRL!!!!

i am in SHOCK. i was convinced this baby was another boy! (well, it still could be, but hopefully we''ll know better in 3 weeks when i have my true anatomy scan!)

lover in athens - yay!! it''s about time we get some girls around here. it''s been boy city for a while
36.gif

LIA-What great news!

Mere, I am jealous of your nice weather! It rained/snowed most of yesterday so we were pretty much trapped at home. I spent most of it asleep, hah.

No more contractions - except for one random one yesterday, that felt like it was pushing my stomach up my esophagus - which makes me sad. I thought I was starting to do something, then I had a relaxing weekend and it was all over, hah. Dang it. How are you feeling, Mere?

drk, I hope all is going well today! I was sending you tons of baby dust, maybe it is just piling up to work today. Fingers crossed!

LIA, what awesome 70% news! Are you excited?

Speaking of, I have the NT scan on Wedns. when I should be 13 weeks. What are my odds of getting a good gender guess out of this? And how do you go about asking? This is CA where the scans seem very regimented and all, but I guess its just a fancier scanning facility in a hospital.

DrK routing for you! Hope that your body either kicks itself into gear or it doesn''t take much inducing to get things going!

In my news, I just placed a largish order of mat. clothes from the gap/ON online. So much for being a larger girl and delaying the showing/needing such wardrobe adjustments. Obviously I''m not really showing a proper bump, but I''m certainly sporting an enhanced spare tire! I really had no idea what to order, so I hope they''ll work or some will work and I can return the rest. Also I clearly need something on the pants end, but the shirts I''m worried about. I can currently wear my looser fitting longer regular shirts, but most of my shirts are too short/tight in belly. But I''m thinking that full-on maternity shirts will be too much for quite some time. Oh well, I suppose they''ll be good to have when the time comes, whenever that is.

Cara, it depends on the position of the baby and the mood of the tech. We asked the head nurse about it before we went in and she said they didn''t have any rules about not saying anything but out tech was a witch and flat out refused to tell us. So I was left squinting at the printed pics trying to determine what was genitalia and what was umbilical cord. Maybe once you have your pics you can upload them and we can compare the angle of our little ones'' dangles? It seems so clear on the pictures you find on google but then when the u/s is in front of you it''s definitely not so clear. Good luck though!

Cara, I remember reading that at 12/13 wks, it's very difficult to distinguish gender because the organs look very similar at that point. Though, someone with better knowledge will hopefully chime in . . .

I had a mini-maternity wardrobe update myself this weekend. If you brought in a pair of old jeans to the gap, you received 30% off a new pair and that old pair is donated to make housing insulation. win. win. I scored a pair of super comfortable jeans for a bargain and two more pairs of work pants as I was getting a little tired/finding it a bit unpleasant to make my limited number of pairs work day after day. as for tops/dresses, at 26wks, I'm still wearing mostly non-maternity. Though, the few maternity tops that I do have are finallly starting to be filled out by my bump - before, there was sort of this empty, little pocket just waiting for a fuller belly

This. They usually wait until 18-20 weeks to try and determine gender, because it''s far more clear-cut then. We all start out as girls
3.gif

Yeah, I know its early but also my friend got an estimate from her NT scan - the tech gave her 70-80% odds, and it was confirmed later. I just didn''t know how common her experience was.

Maybe I shouldn''t wish for that though, what if they are wrong! Adapt to one, then readapt to the other!

LIA, congrats on a GIRL! SO excited for you! Finding out the gender is one thing I''m looking forward to since I''ll have to get a 16 week u/s for baseline cervical length. And getting two u/s (or more) to check the gender is a good thing! I''ve heard way too many stories of girls actually being boys!

cara, at 13 weeks it''s too early to find out the gender. The tech probably won''t even try to guess at that point. Have fun though! The NT scan is my favorite u/s! You can see baby so clearly!

DRK, wow, who would have thought you''d go over 41 weeks! crazy! I''m sending you lots of labor dust!

DRK, sending lots of labor dust your way....

LIA, A girl, how exciting...

MP, loved your pic, you are close no??

LIA - congratulations on your (75% sure) little lady

LIA, congrats on your girl!
36.gif
Hopefully, they''ll be able to confirm for you soon. I find out on Thursday and I can''t wait!

Cara, this is just me but I wouldn''t even ask that early because I would be too skeptical to trust their eye. If you don''t mind the higher chance of a change later on then go for it!

Charger, I''m not looking forward to registering. I went with SIL and I was seriously stressed. I had the cold sweats!
6.gif
DH and I plan to do it in pieces. We''ll start early and do a couple of short trips so we''re sure about everything...and to lower my anxiety. I know someone who has been registered since she was 14 weeks! I''m in no rush...although my mother is.
31.gif

DrK, oh how I hope you''re in labor. Come on baby!

Swimmer, I will now stop whining about how uncomfortable I''m become at just under 20 weeks. Kicking you in your broken ribs? Seriously?

Lulu, I''m so happy your pup is on the up and up!

just a drive by

Tiny Prints is having a sale on birth announcements ( i've been looking at the designs for a while now and this is the first sale i've seen) . But it ends tonight at midnight, so if anyone is ordering from there, now's a good time. The nice thing is you can buy them ahead of time and they send the envelopes before the birth and get them addressed etc. Then once baby arrives you can fill in the details, add the picture and then once they arrive you can just pop em in the mail. I ordered from them for my son and the quality was good for the price.

ETA: free shipping too on orders over $60 for US customers (never applies to canada --booo)

LIA yay for a girl!!! one of each, how perfect!!

Kaleigh, yes, I will be 38 weeks Friday
37.gif
Ready for him to come out!

I scheduled today off from work and have been nothing but lazy all day. I just woke up for a nap. I feel downright refreshed lol.

ETA: I look terrible though, hah. My skin, it's been breaking out SO BAD the last few weeks. Cystic and gross, ugh.

Just wanted to share a funny conversation I had with DH the other day:

DH: "Wow, now you can tell you''re pregnant from the back."
Me: "Did you really just say that?"
DH: "What?"
Me: "Saying you look pregnant from the back is not something a pregnant woman wants to hear."
DH: "Why? What''s so bad about looking pregnant from the back?"
Me: "Nevermind."
Silence for a minute
DH: "It''s probably just the way you walk."

Oh puppmom, LOL. Men
20.gif

Ladies, try in-gender.com..They have a forum where you can post your u/s pictures and they have professional u/s techs who will help you guess/figure out the babies gender from early u/s. It''s where I gained some knowledge and I actually guessed correctly the sex of Lulu''s baby!

Also, don''t get too excited over 70%....I was told 98% at my 20 week u/s and 4 weeks later it was 100% the opposite sex! I was told Girl....but Evan is definitely a boy..haha. Don''t run out and buy anything just yet (Unlike what we did....super fun returning everything!)

Oh the preggo skin. I remember it well. You''re almost there lady!!!!
Yay for a great nap. Get the sleep now while you can...

puppmom~ DH and I had a similar conversation. He casually mentioned that I was looking REALLY pregnant a couple days ago and he said he likes it. Then later he said something about everyone can tell I''m pregnant now because of my waddle...

My DH just likes to walk behind me and snicker to himself

thank for all the comments guys! we are very very excited (but yes, still skeptical!). the u/s tech didn''t really even want to try at first, but i convinced her. she did comment that she wouldn''t have been able to tell at all if i was heavier... dh couldn''t be at this u/s so i asked the tech to write it on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope. she told me that she printed a picture with an arrow pointing to the goods. based on this, i was POSITIVE it was a boy. SO surprised to open the envelope!!

LINDSEY: so glad you checked in! sounds like the baby is doing great. what a pain with all the IVs. definitely sounds like a PICC might be the way to go (but i too would be very wary of the clotting risk!).

JCROW: thanks!!

HH: thanks! btw, so glad your nuchal went well. that''s always such a fun u/s! my tech also refused to guess on gender at that time. she said the parts "could be girl and could be boy."

MONKEY: i can''t believe how close you are getting!! hang in there!

CARA: i totally order tons of stuff from ON/gap online! i hate that some of it is mail return only, but it''s still worth it. i am totally showing now too. i decided that i need to make the official switch to maternity clothes...like yesterday!! enjoy your nuchal scan!

LULU: i just love your beautiful belly pics! yay for filling out the maternity clothes! i bet you look adorable! btw (and totally late here), glad your pup is doing ok. that stuff is so scary!

SNLEE: thanks so much. we are thrilled (but as i said, still very skeptical). i can''t wait for the anatomy scan now! if you can believe it, i''m having BHs today! i probably totally overdid it (walked the dogs twice, and worked all day). now i''m freaking out a little that i''m not going to be able to do ANYTHING. i told dh i was having a few contractions and he totally freaked out!!

KALEIGH: thanks!! :) so glad you drop in here from time to time! :)

PUPP: can''t wait to hear what you''re having! any guesses? good luck on thursday! LOL on your hubby''s comment. too funny.

PUFFY: thanks! although i am kind of wanting a girl, i have to admit that a little piece of me is disappointed not to have another boy too. your guys are just so cute together!

TAO: i KNOW! i remember your story. i keep telling dh that could happen!!

SHINY: ugh on the waddle. i''m only 16 weeks and i feel like i''m already getting there. VERY pathetic!

okay, that''s all for now! hope everyone is having a great night!

morning!!

Monkey - 38 weeks

you are SOOO close!!! can''t wait to *meet* micah!! and I can relate to the skin - though sadly, it''s been pretty awful since about the six week of this pregnancy. hormones
14.gif

cara - like snlee, I loved the 12 wk scan. just loved it. your little one actually looks like a little one and it''s just the most amazing thing to see!!

lia - thanks for the compliments on the belly and the good thoughts for the pup
35.gif
. I feel like your pregnancy is flying by!! maybe I need to convice my dr. that we need to check my cervical length so I can catch another glimpse of this kid
31.gif

tao - I absolutely remember your gender 180. hope that you are right about ours as I have gone and gotten a few (alright, a bunch) of girl things by this point. just can''t help myself . . .
5.gif

jas - I think that my SIL used tiny prints for my shower - they have such great designs and the shipping is so speedy. I''m just sad that I missed out on the sale. I''ll have to keep an eye out for another one. How are you feeling these days?

snlee - same to you - how are you doing? I feel like the first trimester + adorable, yet super active toddler = one tired momma!

pupp/shiny - your conversations had me giggling. where oh where did the filter go when your DH (or anyone really) needs it most
9.gif
. So far, I''ve been pretty much showered with nice comments, though one co-worker did tell me and I quote: "wow, you are taking up more room these days" gee, thanks!

Yea, it''s exciting to hear even the most far off guess about the gender, but I''d treat it like anything else. You have a 50/50 chance of it being one or the other and just don''t run amok buying girly stuff until the anatomy scan (which isn''t even 100% accurate).

I''m totally loving that in-gender site! I''m scouring the u/s pictures now and will post mine as soon as my registration is confirmed! I might not get much work done today...
