Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Have any of you tried anything like THIS gender predictor?? Since my sono has been rescheduled and I''m already measuring bigger, I''m afraid we won''t be able to tell the gender due to the baby''s size. Have any of you been able to see the gender at around 28-30 weeks?? I''ll be not quite 24 weeks but am measuring at least 4 ahead...

MP~ I really don''t see you holding out for two more weeks....I''m expecting that baby mid-next week!

That is a fabulous thought

I hope you''re right!

As for the gender - we have been able to see his, um, equipment every single time since week 20. But he hasn''t been shy about it, either! We had our final ultrasound at week 34 and he happily spread his legs for our tech - though he refused to show his face, just like every other ultrasound lol. As long as the baby is positioned right for you to see it, you should get a glimpse!

Shiny - if your little one cooperates, you''ll be able to tell the gender. hope that he/she does!!

Shiny- They should be able to tell you the gender by week 22. Anything after that, and it should be pretty obvious.

My DH and I did the Intelligender box, and we did it JUST FOR FUN. Ours was right, but it is really just a 50/50 chance, so don''t put any stake in whatever it tells you. Just for fun.

Glad to hear that you girls have been able to see the gender later in the pregnancy. JT must have hid his manhood after our initial US for gender because we were never able to see it again. I''m such a planner, I''ve actually been WORRIED about NOT finding out because I don''t know what I''d do!!

Um...I *might* have tried the intelligender last week....at DH''s insistence! Personally I thought it was a waste of $35, but he insisted. It said I was having a boy.

Shiny - My doc was able to see the gender for both Meena and Jaron at the 28 weeks growth u/s, so you should be fine.

MP, yay for 38 weeks! You''re so close! Sending you some labor dust!

drk, I hope you''re in labor!

LIA, omg, take an easy lady! I think I felt my first BHs around 16-18 weeks last time. My whole belly tightened and it really freaked me out! Have you started feeling baby movements? Did you feel them earlier this time around? I can''t wait!

lulu, I''m glad your pup is recovering well. How scary! Thanks for asking how I''m doing. 1st trimester + busy toddler does = tired mommy!!!

I''ve been sick the last 5 days. sore throat, stuffy nose, achy body, and chills. It hasn''t been fun. I''m back at work today but still not feeling 100%. The whole family got it. Thankfully my son hasn''t been as miserable as me. It seems he just has a stuffy/runny nose and is a bit tired sometimes but overall seems okay. DH has been so great, even though he''s catching whatever I have now. He''s been doing so much more since I''ve been in the yucky 1st trimester! I''m so lucky to have him.

I''m 10 weeks today! Yay, double digits! Thankfully, it seems the m/s has been easing up a bit. Or with my sickness, it''s covering it up. I''m hoping for the former. I have an appointment this Thursday and can''t wait to hear the HB...NT scan in 2 weeks, my favorite u/s! We''re telling more family about the pregnancy this weekend and in 3 weeks or so I can tell everyone else! I''m very excited! Things are looking up!

I used that test and it was not correct. Test said girl, sono is OBVIOUSLY a boy.... (ours isn''t shy either..)

Snlee- Yay for exciting upcoming things! I loved telling everyone!

Since she hasn''t posted in 2 days... I''m going to go out on a limb and guess that Drk is probably either in labor or holding her precious little newborn! Hope to hear an update soon!

I''m trying not to get my hopes up, but I thought so, too! I hope she comes in with an update today

Go DrK! Go DrK!

MP, you are almost there! no puppies for you!

HH, when do you find out for real, like with science ;)

thanks puppmom, at least I''m on .5 days at work now so that I can lie down most of the day.

MP- Glad to hear you are hanging in there! Are you going to work all the way up until go-day?

I am doing fine. I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow, and we have our measurement u/s. I'm so excited that we get to see our baby again!! Other than the uneventful 3D/4D, we haven't seen our little man in 3 months!!

The heartburn is coming in stages. Will be here for 2 days, then gone for one or two, then come back, then leave again. It doesn't seem to be based on any sole food in general so it's hard to plan. I'm waking up once a night right now. Potty breaks are increasing, and I am finally having to add LOTS of fiber to my diet. Glad that lovely side effect has held off as long as it has.

Getting up after sitting a while is becoming, well, painful. I can tell the baby is getting bigger because my hips are sore almost all the time when I walk... but I'm still not waddling yet. Tyring my hardest to hold off!

I can't really complain though. I've had a pretty easy go of it... and am loving all the movement I can feel now, in my belly. He moves almost constantly
30.gif

ETA: I'm also very interested to find out the baby's measurements tomorrow. Since he has been literally growing inside me, and not outward, I have absolutely no idea how big he might be...

swimmer, what if I give birth to one? Does that count?
3.gif

Mere, I am going to try and work until the very end so I don''t "waste" any time at home without a baby. I have limited time as it is so I am going to do my best to make it until the day I deliver! I think that''s why I am pushing so much to get him out already, lol. Just the thought of how bad I will feel in a week or more kills me!

I get that same pain you get after sitting for awhile and then getting up, except mine is all in the pubic area. I totally waddle, except it''s more of a limp. If it doesn''t hurt I walk like normal, but my job makes me sit a lot. It''s both a blessing and a curse!

Hey! I had an u/s tech look at the picture, that''s science, right?

5 weeks....
39.gif

MP- I get the limp as well. It is worse when I step with my left foot. The pain hasn't moved down to the pubic area yet, but it is right there at the bottom of the belly. I have a feeling it will get lower as the baby starts to drop. Not looking forward to it, that is for sure.

Now I'm worried that my baby isn't a boy, especially since we had our "big" ultrasound at only 19 weeks and our tech was in training
32.gif
Not that I wouldn't be happy with a girl, but I have also, um, spent a wee bit on some clothes...oops! Well I guess we will find out next week. For what it's worth, it did really seem like a clear shot of boy bits, but who knows?

Mere, I can't believe you are feeling the baby all the time. I found that around last week the movement started decreasing for me (I guess due to lack of room in there?)

I also have a couple of small stretch marks by my belly button now
39.gif
At first they were so small and light I thought they were just veins, but they have darkened a little bit so I realised what they were. I wonder if I will be lucky enough they won't grow and I won't get any more? Probably not, with 8 weeks to go. Shoot, I was hoping I was going to be lucky like my sister, 3 kids and not one stretch mark at all!

ETA: I have had a waddle for a few weeks now. When I'm out I try to disguise it, but when I'm home I just let myself waddle away because it's more comfortable

That''s exactly where mine started. For the last few months it has been firmly in the bend of my left leg, where the tendons are. It feels like a pulled muscle, a really bad one. Yay!

I hope all of you ladies had a good night. I slept terribly - like usual - and am already thinking about going home for a nap.

sleep - wasn''t my best evening ever. In the middle of the night, I was startled awake by the worst cramp in my calf. It took forever to go away and it nearly brought me to tears
39.gif
That hasn''t ever happened before and I sure hope that it''s not a normal pregnancy occurance. ouch.
14.gif
.

stretch marks - do they generally appear at a certain time or does it vary - I have no idea what my mom had, so I''m not sure what to expect. hoping to be spared, but it''s not likely.

my SIL sent our shower invites this past weekend and I noticed that a few items have been purchased from our registry
36.gif
36.gif
love feeling the love!

though, my MIL isn''t going to be attending. She spends the winters in FL and won''t be back up north before May. This basically means that no one from my husband''s family will be attending (he has a small family and they aren''t very close). I thought for sure at least his mom would come, being the grandma-to-be, but apparently I was wrong. not sure how I feel about it . . .

Hi guys, sorry that I haven''t been keeping up with everyone for the past couple of days ...

LIA, congrats on your baby girl!

Lindsay, I''m so glad that things are going well for you & baby Andrew!

HH, I''m glad your NT went well!

Pretty Blues, I''m sure that your 19 week ultrasound was right. When we went for my NT scan at 12 weeks, I could see my baby''s penis. Maybe it''s easier to tell earlier with boys, but I''m pretty sure that they can tell for sure by 18 weeks as long as the baby is in the right position.

MP & Meresal, I''m sorry that you''re having that awful pain. I didn''t have it at all during my first pregnancy, but I had really bad sciatica a few weeks ago - it was crippling for about a week, then it magically went away. I felt it as a shooting, stabbing pain down the back of my buttock and thigh. It was awful.

Hope all you other preggos (Cara, Charger, Lulu, Snlee, Shiny, and others I forgot to name) are doing well!

We were talking about freebirthing on another thread, and I mentioned that one of my friends was having her first baby as a homebirth with a lay midwife (not freebirthing, but not a hospital birth either...) I need to go post her update there, but she had her baby this week, so I thought I would share the snippets of her story ...

She started having contractions Saturday night at 42 weeks pregnant, and labored at home with her husband and midwife for two days until she reached 10 centimeters. However, the baby never descended from the 0 position, and pushing was totally unsuccessful, so the midwife advised that they go to the hospital. Since my friend never saw an OB at all throughout her pregnancy, the OB on staff performed an emergency C-section, and delivered her of a 9 lb. 9 oz. baby boy!
23.gif

I was afraid that she would be traumatized or disappointed her experience, since she ended up with an emergency C-section instead of the all-natural homebirth that she had really hoped for, but after 2 days of labor, I think she was more relieved to just get the baby OUT, healthy, and she sounded in really good spirits.

MP- Here's to hoping they go away!

lulu- Ohhh the leg cramps!
11.gif
I had these about 3 weeks ago. It was a Saturday morning, and I literally couldn't get out of bed. I had about 3 of them within an hour. After that, I began chugging water. I drink almost 4 bottles daily, and I haven't had one since.
When it happens, if it happens again, just try to flex your foot as far back as you can and hold it there... don't leave your foot pointed which lets the muscle get all bunched up in your calf. It hurts, but not as much as sitting there with your leg frozen. This really helped me make them go away quicker.

Vesper- Good to hear from you! Glad to hear that your friend has a very healthy baby!

PB- The movements aren't like rolling or punching... I can just feel him more because since there is less room, he touches the walls anytime he does anything. He's been pretty mute the whole pregnancy, so I am loving these little reminders.

Just checking in to see all the lovely belly pics! Looking great ladies!

From a btdt...prettyblues...hope it''s not true for you, but I got HUGE in my last few weeks so that''s when I got most of my stretchies. Also, I was really paranoid about the u/s saying boy but then having a girl because I had had a really strong feeling of having a girl, but ds is definitely all boy. And they are much more likely to mistake a girl when it''s really a boy than the other way around.

On the subject of stretch marks, I even got more after I delivered. Boo.

Lovelylulu, I got the calf charlie horses all throughout my pregnancy. The cramps are totally normal! Drinking lots of water before bed can help, as can flexing your foot (bringing toes towards the body) during them! Mine were crippling at times...one of the worst things I had to suffer during pregnancy.

mere - I will definitely stay hydrated. glad that yours have gone away. that was awful. I also read that low potassium can be the culprit, but I've been eating a banana each morning for the past three days, so I'm full of potassium...

thanks sabine - i will be flexing for sure the next time the cramping strikes!

Hey, ladies. It sounds like everyone is doing pretty well.

What''s up with these leg cramps? Is that what I have to look forward to?

My belly is growing at a pretty good clip now. I can feel my muscles stretching...ouch! The pressure on my ribs is starting too. The hot flashes are also growing in frequency. They are REALLY unpleasant but only last for a few minutes.

Enough complaining from me...I get to find out the sex of this baby tomorrow and that excites me!
36.gif
I''m predicting girl but DH won''t share his *prediction* (I mean guess based on no factual knowledge or experience) until tonight. He''s taking this quite seriously.
9.gif

Oh, and I just ordered two bamboo t-shirts from Baby Be Mine Maternity and I can''t wait till they come. They were only $10 so I figured it wasn''t a risky purchase. We recently got bamboo sheets and I LOVE them!

For those of you who are getting serious hip and pubic pain:

After your babes come, if you can, go to a chiropractor and make sure all of your joints are in order. I WISH I had done that after JT. Since I didn''t and my pubic joint was actually dislocated, this pregnancy has been so much worse in terms of pain.

vesper~ Glad your friend and her LO are okay! That would be traumatic!

I have to go get my MOH dress fitted in a bit. I look like the tomato who ate tokyo. And, to top it off, the silver sandals....and silver cross...This will be the tackiest day of my life....at least sis is happy!?!

re: leg cramps - i''m shocked that i haven''t gotten them during pregnancy. i use to get them in high school + college. i was a dancer and man-o-man did calf cramps hurt! i''d get them in the middle of the night and they''d bring tears to my eyes!

meresal - funny you say yours is growing inside. my bebe is definitely growing outwards! my skin is all tight and my belly heavy. i can''t see how i can get any bigger even though she''s suppose to grow so much in the last few weeks. i look back at all the earlier pics and think gosh i can''t believe i thought i was big then! look at me know. haha.

--

this afternoon we''re going to return some baby stuff and get some things off our registry. we''re not going to finish it off just yet since some things can wait. and then tonight we have our breastfeeding class.

my heartburn seems to have returned
39.gif
however, my ankle swelling is down. i can actually see my ankle bones. i''m sure after today''s shopping + class, it will return by tonight though. grr.

this weekend was our co-ed couple''s shower. it was laid back and fun. got some cute stuff. sil made me a huge diaper cake out of size 1-2 swaddlers. she used the sam''s sized box, so we have quite a supply of that sized diaper!

i also checked out a maternity store to find nursing bras + tanks + a nightgown for the hospital. no luck. nothing fit well enough to purchase anything. so frustrating. right now i have one nursing bra, but they say once your milk comes in you''ll need to go up in size. so, what i have probably won''t work.

things on our to do list - cpr infant class and putting in our carseat and bases and having them inspected. we also need to figure out the baptism stuff. we registered for the baptism class but need to officially join the church in our parish since we recently moved. then, we have to meet with the priest and have him approve the baptism and approve us baptizing our baby in another state where my family lives.

Jcrow, sounds like you had a nice shower - I love the idea of a diaper cake.

I also had a really hard time finding nursing stuff. I normally wear a 34DD bra when now pregnant, and last time I went up to a 36F while nursing. I ended up buying some bras from a special nursing boutique at one of the hospitals in my area, and they worked. However, they weren''t the most attractive bras by a long shot. I hear that Bravado makes nice bras, and you can find them online.

Regarding nightgowns for the hospital, I STRONGLY suggest either just wearing the hospital gowns (I found them easy to nurse in) or just buying some cheap nightgowns from Target that you don''t mind throwing away after your stay. This is because people bleed SO MUCH after deliveries while the uterus is shedding the lochia - my friends and I were talking about how we wear wearing huge granny panties with 2 of the massive hospital pads in them, and we were still bleeding all over our panties, nightgowns and sheets. I bought cheap underwear and nightgowns that I wore for a week or two after delivery, while I was still bleeding, and then I just tossed all of that stuff. I also suggest getting a cheap set of sheets & a waterproof mattress pad for when you get home.

Once your milk comes in, then you can re-measure and shop for bras and nightgowns for use at home. I found better stuff online than I found at Motherhood & Pea in the Pod. Majamas is a nice brand of nursing lounge clothes you can find online.

yeh, the nursing pjs are mostly for at home use. the ones i liked were something like $15 for a gown + robe. but it only came in blue. and well, i didn''t want blue.
9.gif
so i didn''t get it. good idea on the sheets and waterproof mattress pad. i think i''ll go look for one today. we already have sheets that we can use.

ditto on wearing the hospital gowns there...honestly i didn''t want to put any of my own clothes on with that monster pad and diaper thing going on, you really don''t want anything near there anyway. i got my nursing bra and tank after but honestly at home i don''t even wear anything, i just wear snug tanks. i will say i am horrible about wanting to wear stuff like that at home, but i have ruined a fair amt of my tops with leakage and the cream that i put on the boobs, so you might want to designate tops if you don''t want to wear a bra at home like me. i just wear lounge stuff at home anyway. i only wear the bra or tank when i go out AND i don''t really plan to have to nurse in public (and haven''t yet) so not sure i even NEED it. but it''s nice to have.

oh and your boobs get bigger after birth so anyone buying tanks or bras now, make sure to think about that.

vesper...omg on your friend''s attempted home birth!! it''s great that she was fine with going to the hospital and that it all turned out ok and 9.9..WOW!
