Hi Claudinam,
Well, I went for a fitting to have "our" dress hemmed today at David''s Bridal, and I asked them about the sash that we don''t know what to do with. They didn''t have any good ideas at all. The woman helping me suggested making one big loop, which basically looked like half a bow, and the profile of stuck out behind me and looked hideous. If you just know the sash, the silkiness won''t let the knot stay tight, and you still have this long tail hanging down, which I don''t like. My mom asked them if they could cut the sash and sew it to the dress, and they said they don''t do that. Then I remembered that that''s how the dress looks on the David''s Bridal website photo That is how I want to have the sash, with nothing hanging on it. So, my mom is going to do it herself. She is a good sewer, and I don''t think it''s that big of a deal to reduce the sash length and attach it by hand to the dress, leaving space for the zipper. She''s going to pin it and make sure it will work before she cuts anything. Anyway, I will let you know how we make out and how difficult it was to do. I''m hoping it will look exactly like the photo on the website, although in that photo is looks like the sash is going right over the zipper. I think we''ll have to leave space for the zipper, but i''m not sure.
I''ll be getting my dress back from them mid May and my mom will be working on it soon after, as my wedding in June 1. So I''ll know by then how it works out... I also found that today when I was there, the bra/slip thing I bought from them kept showing in the back--my dress was slipping down on the slippery undergarment or something. I haven''t lost any weight I don''t think, so I don''t know why that''s happening. I might have to have my mom stitch the dress to the undergarment or something, because I can''t have my bra showing in the back!
