...in a bezel or half-bezel set?

I''ve been told by a couple of jewellers that anything larger than a .80 ct round diamond would look out of proportion, and hence not pleasing to the eye.

Does anyone out there have a bezel set 1ct (or larger)? And if so please post pictures (especially hand shots). I like to get an idea of what a large stone would look like in a bezel/semi-bezel setting before making a decision on a design.

alexah just got a gorgeous bezel-set RB right hand ring. i'm pretty sure it's in the 1.25 carat range. she posted it here on SMTR--i bet if you scroll down a page you'll see it.

I respectfully disagree also. I have a .5 in a bezel-set necklace and I plan to possibly upgrade that to 1 ct. I have seen 1 ct+ stones in bezels and I think they look great.

Are you very petite with tiny hands? Perhaps that is why this was suggested?

I was starting to get a bit disheartened when not one but 2 different jewellers suggested to limit the size of the diamond (no, I don't have small hands....my ring finger is a size 6.5)

I think I'll look for someone who willing to work with me on this project.

I am having my 1.48 round diamond put in a half bezel similar to this tiffany mount right now. I should be receiving it within a week or so. All I know is that my band will be very very wide to accomodate and not look out of proportion.

I will be posting pics as soon as Whiteflash emails them to me once the ring is completed.
