Can anyone identify the gemstone? I thought it was Moonstone. It is a pure milky white opaque. Is it a moonstone or opal or Chalcedony or any else. But it is not white coral as I have tested it. I have not seen any fracture or cleavage

Definitely not moonstone or opal. Could be Chalcedony type or possibly a manmade glass type material.
If you put a bright light behind it can you see any structural features ie colour zoning, imperfections?

It looks kind of waxy, perhaps some sort of Jade?
DK :))

I thought some colourless white Opal potch might be an option.

:roll I didn’t know opal potch came in white, I always thought it was grey ish.

Potch can be white, to grey, to black as well as having some golden or greenish body tones (stay away from the green/golden body tones as they tend to craze from what I've found).

Coober Pedy probably has the 'whitest' colourless potch I've seen. I've got some in my workshop, I'll take a photo and post later today if I can remember :saint::lol:

@Bron357 here is a piece of Coober Pedy colourless Opal AKA white potch. Unfortunately there is none of the quintessential Opal colourplay inside this stone. It's just a cloudy, white rock.

I'm thinking about doing a thread in this forum explaining body tone in Opal, it seems to be something a lot of people get confused about including a lot of vendors I've met.
