Every website I've seen only sells Round and Princess studs (do other shapes just not sell?). I'd really like Cushions to match my engagement ring. I saw this awesome pair by Leon Mege on his website, but he is way out of my league.

I'm hoping to spend no more than 1500 for 1/2 - 3/4ctw? I came up with this $$ from seeing the prices of standard studs at some of the PS e-vendors, but maybe this is a ridiculous dream considering the non-standard shape.

Should I give up or does anyone know of somewhere I might actually make this happen?

Suggestions are greatly appreciate!

I've never seen pre-set cushion studs. It shouldn't be a problem for you to choose 2 similarly sized cushion stones and have a vendor set them for you. I just had DCD make me up a pair of pear shaped diamond studs from two pear shaped diamonds I found on their site. If you don't find two stones loose in the database then call a vendor and have them price out from their matched stone source for two cushion cut stones.

I found a site with pre-set pear stones but theirs were more expensive and of lesser color and clarity than what I got from DCD. I think I came out much better being able to pick my own stones and then have them set.

Thanks, pearcrazy, I will contact them once I know exactly what I''m looking for. I searched and found your pair and they look fabulous. I''m happy to know they were able to make such a nice match; it really gives me hope!

I either want studs or the type of setting I posted above. Not sure which one will work better. I only take off my earrings to clean them, so I sometimes have trouble falling asleep with the post poking me in the neck. The post on one from my current pair is even bent a little from constant wear. My guess is that having the above setting might avoid this problem altogether.

Does anyone know what this type of setting is called?
Do you think this type of earring would be as safe as a screwback?
Does anyone have a pair like this, and if so, can you please post a pic so I can see how they look on the ear?

THANKS!!

Hi, Lollybear..

You might check out: www.diamondsbylauren.com . David''s great to work with.

It makes more sense to me to have the vendor/professional do the hunting and matching of paired stones..rather than trying to do it yourself from a data base...

I had the vendors I contacted (WF and DCD) speak with their matched stone supplier. In both cases the price was twice as much for uncertified "matched" diamonds from the supplier. Doing the searching myself with a little guidance from them helped me get exactly what I was looking for. The matched stone suppliers wanted about $1285 for G SI1/2 matched pears. By searching the database myself I got 1 .30 E color SI1 EGL-USA certed diamond for $220 and a matching .30 E color SI2 GIA certed stone for $380. With setting and shipping my bill was still under $700. It sure beats $1300. You just have to shop around and know what you're looking for. I'm not exactly sure what the Leon Mege setting is called but it's something along the lines of a Eurowire or leverback.

That was a good suggestion to call Diamonds by Lauren. Just send him the picture of what you want and see what he can do.
