Can anyone tell me what type of tourmaline this is?

It's the kind that seems to be misrepresented. Any stone that's only 6.7 x 6.7 isn't goint to be 7.5 ct.

Well, Andelain, it could be VERRRRRY deep.

Hello everyone. You all have been very helpful. I stumbled upon this nice ring and the seller states that it's tourmaline, but does anyone know what kind of tourmaline it could be?

If it is a tourmaline (???), it looks like just a regular green tourmaline to me. It's not a particularly valuable stone. The value in that ring is mostly in the gold and diamonds.

It's the kind we call a "green" tourmaline. Andelain's right too -- it ain't no 7.5 cts if it's 6.7 square. Unless, of course, it isn't a tourmaline at all. On eBay, you never can be sure.

It is just a regular green tourmaline but I agree that it is impossible to be anywhere close to 7.5 ct, given that the measurement is only 6.7 x 6.7 mm; I think it is closer to 1.5 ct. Not to mention the fact that the sale is final (no return is clearly spelled out).

Think it is tourmaline - I zoomed the pictures on my ipad and see dichroism - green and a bit bluish green.

The weight is wrong - think around +/- 2 ct.

I'll bet you could get around that pretty clearly since the stone's size is badly misrepresented.
