I second this. Doug is great to work with and polishing/buffing is part of his core business.I don't know about your stone specifically, but I know Doug Menaude of bespoke gems (see "trusted vendor" list) does polishing/buffing for older stones. He's incredibly nice, so it's worth sending him an email with pics to see what he thinks. He's in AUS, but I've never had a problem and have worked with him on multiple occasions.
A good lapidary will make your tanzanite look like new!
I am more concerned about you wearing your tanzanite ring on a daily basis. Whoever sold it to you should have told you that tanzanites are not a durable stone and should be worn with caution otherwise they will get scratched, chipped, and abraided.
