Canadian in NYC

Hey everybody, I''ve been a long time reader on the site and I''ve taken a trip to NYC. I''m from Canada. I''d love to get an engagement ring for my GF while I''m here. I figure if I''m going to propose anyway, I might as well save on shipping and taxes. I was looking to spend around 5K canadian or a little more than 4000k american that would be awesome. I was looking for as close to 1 carat as possible and at least an eye clean diamond. Is that reasonble? How long does it usually take to put a loose diamond in a ring? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It doesn''t take that long to actually set the diamond but that depends on the setting. It may take some time to order in or custom make a setting but given your budget .. I think you will have to get a ready made setting.
