Ok, my fiance and I have finally decided where we want to go for our honeymoon. We had thought about St. Thomas, Costa Rica and several other places, but we have finally decided to go to Cancun. (Although we do still plan to go to those other locations one day for anniversaries). We have some friends who have stayed at the Sun Palace Resort in Cancun in the past and they absolutely loved it. We are probably going to go there, but I am tempted by the Aventura Spa Palace as well. Has anyone here stayed at either or both of these resorts? I have read many reviews about both on tripadvisor.com but I still can''t make up my mind.

If anyone has any recommendations or warnings I would really appreciate it!

Thanks so much

I highly recommend any of the Palace Resorts, but especially any of the newer ones. They are inexpensive and all inclusive. (the inclusive part includes visiting, eating and drinking at any of their resorts. I think there are 6 or 7). It is a blast and you will be very well taken care of!

Have fun and good luck with your decision!

We stayed there 2 years ago...beautiful but HUGE resort!!!! When we stayed there, we were in the older section of the resort and our in-room jacuzzi didn't work...disappointing, but not the end of the world. Drinks are subpar at the bars, but just ask them to make anything you want "a double" and you'll be fine. The breakfasts were good and the lunches too...for dinner, the Mexican restaurant was the best (there are 7 restaurants!!), the Italian was the worst.

The Spa services were INCREDIBLE!! You could get a massage out at the padacas (huts right on the ocean) for no extra money!! My masseuse (Eduardo!!!) was heavenly!!!

Let me know if there's anything in particular you want to know!!!

Thanks for the info. I think we are going to make our decision this weekend. Even if we end stayin at the Sun Palace I think we will visit the Aventura Spa palace to get massages one day. It sounds like a great place.

Does anyoen know anything about the passport requirements for entering leaving Mexico? My fiance and I both have our passports but hers expires exactly 6 months after our trip. I understadn that when visiting some countries you will not be allowed to enter if your passport is not godd for at least 6 months past the end date of your trip. Her passport is right on the line but I don''t know if it makes a difference for a trip to Mexico. We are booking our trip through an online provider (expedia.com) so we don''t have a travel agent to ask about this. Any tips on this subject?

Thanks!

Hey Huisman98 ~

I think you will really enjoy Sun Palace. Last year my fiance and I stayed there, sort of... We actually stayed at the Moon Palace side of the resort but both Sun Palace and Moon Palace are 2 sides of the same resort property. IT IS HUGE!!!!! Anyhow, the drinks and food were excellent (the Spanish restaurant on the Moon Palace side was outstanding).

As for passports ~ your fiance will be fine. All you need to travel to Mexico is a valid driver''s license and a certified copy of a birth certificate. Make sure you make the reservations for her under her maiden name, not what her married name will be, because all of her documents need to match her reservations. Even though you are using Expedia, you could still call a travel agency or AAA a couple of months before you leave to verify that the rules haven''t changed or anything.

But since you mentioned passports & Mexico... when we were there last year, we went a couple of married friends and my friend''s passport expired on the day we were scheduled to return... They were not going to let her travel because they saw her passport expired on our return date ~ she finally convinced them (after about an hour''s worth of pleading with ticket agents and calling her mom to try to find her birth certificate) that technically her passport wouldn''t expire until midnight and our flight back into the US was scheduled to arrive 6 hours prior to midnight and so they finally gave her a boarding pass... whew!! The worst part was when our returning flight was delayed & we didn''t get back into Houston until 10:00pm ~ 2 hours later and she would have had a big problem!!

Oh, and our friends took a day trip to Adventura Spa Palace to get massages and I think that is definitely what they would recommend ~ they said they preferred staying at Sun/Moon Palace and visiting the other Palace Resorts. They are somewhat biased though, since they got married at Moon Palace!!

Hope that helps!

Thanks for all the advise! We booked our honeymoon yesterday! After talking to a few travel agents and comparing prices on expedia, travelocity, apllevacations, and vacationstogo.com we ended up going with travelocity. It is amazing how the same package deals can cost so much less from site to site. We are really excited about staying at the sun palace. We are definitely going to book massage appointments with the Aventura palace and check out the pools at the moon palace. I have never been to an all inclusive resort before and am really looking forward to it.

Thanks again for all the help!

Yay!! You will have a blast!! I was about to say that I''m jealous but I just realized that we''re getting married in less than a year and in all liklihood we will spend our honeymoon at a Palace resort ~ probably in Cozumel though.
