Can''t quite find what I''m looking for.....diamond/sapphire set

I like the three stone ring you posted, but I think you should get it without the channel set stones and just leave it as a 3 stone ring. Then you could pair a shared prong wedding band (like the one from signedpieces.com) with it, and I think it would look fine. If you wanted to have the channel set diamonds on the side, I think you should get a weddding band with channel set diamonds. I''m not a big fan of the matched set look (as you can tell from my rings), but I do think you should keep prong set with prong set and channel set with channel set.

OH DECO... that is my ultimate dream ring!!!

I love Kirk Kara and i was going to post that but got distracted with photoshop. I need a moment...

I did some more photoshoping for you... I agree with Deco that my first photoshop attempt was a little busy, so i tried to "make" sapphires in an all diamond band that dont line up. I also think that proportions are going to be a large part of the ring not looking busy. The rings i used are Facets with a 1.07 ct center stone and the smaller diamonds are .61 tcw. I know these are bigger than you wanted, but everything could be adjusted down to fit your need...

And some different bands with the 3-stone ring you posted... these are full eternity, but you get the idea of the look for 1/3...

another...

Proportions are kinda off on these too, but you get the idea...

Thanks so much for all of the input and all of the photoshops!!

I am at work right now so I don''t have much time to look them over but I just wanted to post quick and let you know how much I appreciated it!

I will post later tonight with my feelings on all.

Thanks again!

Tony

Tony, the rings that Deco posted from a thread I had previously linked them to are made by Kirk Kara and the design is called Charlotte. A very good friend of mine has that exact ring and it''s just gorgeous. The matching wedding band is also the Charlotte design. I''ll send you more info in response to your pm.

Ok, I''ve narrowed down the selection to three rings (that I''ve seen so far anyway) and I will post pics of them all in a row so we don''t have to go back and cross reference them:

Customjdy.jpg

#2 - although I would prefer the wedding band to have round sapphires and round diamonds to match all of the round stones in the engagement ring (I understand it was just a quick photoshop and I much appreciate it!)

ebayneedsrounds.jpg

#3 - although I think I want the center stone to be round b/c she has earrings and a necklace with round diamonds in them.

The funny thing is that all three of those wedding sets are COMPLETELY different!! There is a three stone, two solitaires, all sorts of prongs, baggetts, etc....the list is endless of all the differences.

I did hear back from David (who I''m assuming works with this Isaac you all speak of) from www.signedpieces.com and he said that making the custom 1/3 eternity band set would be no problem at all and has already quoted me a price! I was thrilled that making a semi-custom ring would be that easy!

The second combination I like very much as well although I would like the stones in the wedding band to be round as all of the stones in the engagement ring are also.

The third combination is beautiful as well; however, there are two main problems that I see.
#1: the sizes on the website only go to 7 and I believe (I will confirm soon
2.gif
) that my GF''s finger is 7.5. This may be able to be accomodated but something to still look into.
#2: the website says that it fits center stones from 1 carat to 2.5 carats......I''m just a grad student and a 1 carat stone may be out of my league. I''m not sure that I can afford a designer wedding set AND a 1 carat center stone so we''ll have to see.

All in all, the information and pictures you have all been providing me with has been more than helpful and I truly appreciate it. Feel free to throw out any other comments, questions, or pictures/suggestions that you wish! Thanks again to everyone!

Someone in "proposal ideas" is considering the kirk kara ring for his FI. You can order it in 18 kt WG for just under $2,000. I am not sure what your budget is (sorry if you already mentioned it) but I think it is a great price for that setting. THOUGH I really like it with the princess (and I am not even a fan of princess cut diamonds!) maybe a radiant, asscher, or EC would work as well. I like all the straight lines. It just works with the design. Good luck!

Well given the three you like I think 1 is the best option. It seems she likes rounds the best based on her earring/necklace choices. (Though it is never a bad idea to double check this.) The second set I do not like, the channel diamonds do not go far enough, and the mixing of round and princess diamonds in that fashion just doesnt look quite right. The third is okay the way it is but would not look as sleek with a RB center stone. JMO.

Tony,

I saw that you mentioned you had a budget; this setting with sapphires is $1000.00/ 18kWG, $1200 for platinum:

Diamond and sapphire setting, channel set

This three stone ring, with a .70 carat center diamond and .5 carat side sapphires is just under $4000.00 ($3980)

Three stone ring, sapphire sides

With a 1 carat diamond and .70 carat side sapphs, it's just under $7000.00

Regarding buying a wedding set: do you have to buy the wedding ring now? Maybe if you bought your girlfriend the engagement ring only, she could choose the band she'd like to have. She has plenty of choices this way, from a plain platinum band to a channel set band with diamonds and sapphires (or just diamonds!). Just a thought. Let us know what you decide!

Ebree, the first ring you attached is beautiful! I think the reason I like it so much is because the sapphires are channel set so they don''t stand out from a distance but when you get up to the ring, it throws in that extra flare of color.

The second link with the three stone is beautiful as well but I''m not sure I can quite splurge for that yet. I have to do some double checking on my checkbook but I know it will be towards the upper end of my spending limit (not that that''s a bad thing

)

I appreciate everyone''s comments and I''m still undecided. As of right now, I think I like option #1 that I posted above which are the custom rings I''m having quoted as we speak. I think my second choice right now is the first link posted by Ebree because that ring is just BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks again everyone.

Tony

I think this ring posted by Bree may be my new favorite.....even over my custom ring idea!!

My GF really likes round stones, sapphires, and unique prong ideas for the center stone. She is rather indifferent between solitaire and three stones looks.....it just depends on the ring. Last, she likes white gold/platinum over yellow gold hands down. All in all, I don''t see how she couldn''t love this engagement ring!

Also, the engagement ring posted above could go with endless numbers of wedding bands so I''m not "locked" in to by a matching set. She could come with to pick it out as suggested above. Also, this ring is VERY much in my price range and I can get a gorgeous rock to put in the center!

Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have a winner!

Does anyone have more pictures of this ring besides what''s on their website? I would love different angles of the prongs because I''m curious as to exactly how they rap around the center diamond and such. Thanks again Bree and everyone else who has posted to this thread. Feel free to add comments or suggestions or more pics as always!

Tony

No problem! I thought it'd be a good option. I think she's going to love it too, and this gives her the freedom to choose a wedding band with you!

I like this ring too, but what about the cut quality of the stones in this band? It is pretty but you are not compairing apples to apples when you compaire it the the quality you will find in the SP setting.

Ya know,
As much as I love the Kirk Kara (and think it WOULD look great with a Round Brilliant stone) I kinda like your new #1 pick too.

I agree with Ebree that your lady will appreciate being able to pick out her own wedding band with you, and that the new #1 pick allows a lot more options later on (including - my fave for that ring - two teenie-eenie 1.8 mm channel set diamond only bands on either side ... so that the e-ring is the only "splash" of color & stands out in the middle, less busy!!)

Also loving the fact that that setting frees up more $ for a bigger ROCK :)

Here''s the band I was thinking of ... it''s actually 1.2 mm (SO TINY!!) .. and from estatediamondjewelry.com.

The fabulous Firegoddess posted it in another thread this a.m. and it took my breath away!

Deco, I LOVE that ring!

I wish I was that fabulous.

Fatafelice posted it. I do absolutely adore it and think it would also go well with your frontrunner ring. Can I still be fabulous though?

For future readers of this thread, that Kirk Kara Charlotte piece looks freaking stunning with a round center stone...my friend who has the ring has a rb center, not a square.

I love all the suggestions listed above. They would all be good choices. Here is a pic of a 3 stone with a princess eternity band. Center stone is 1.5 ct for reference. Gives an idea of the "look".
