Wow! I just love all of the action on this thread! Thanks so much guys and gals!

So here's the next question, I'm looking at two different diamonds for the center stone and I'm pretty sure of which one I'm going to go with but let's see what the educated readers of this thread think.....also, keep in mind that the prices listed are not what I'm paying as I have talked to Isaac and he has quoted me lower prices.

Option #1:

Option #2:

Oh, and as to the concern posted by Matatora, the side stones on the new ring are G-VS2 for the diamonds and ceylon sapphires...not too shabby.

Thanks again for everything.

Tony

Quick question - is there a reason you''re going with VS1 clarity? Cuz you could get a bigger stone if you go down to VS2 or (eye clean) SI1....

I had an SI1 and now have a VS2...couldn''t see any inclusions with either, even in the 10X loupe.

The concern was over the cut quality not the color and clarity.

I was looking at all clarities between IF and VS2. I''m sure that you can find a SI diamond that looks clean but I wanted to make sure my going the next step up. It just so happens that the diamond is VS1 vs VS2.

Matatora, I didn''t see the "cut" quality comment. You bring up a good point and right now I have to weight the cut quality of the side stones vs the quality of the center stone as I''m on a budget. I really do like this new ring brought to my attention by Ebree and I think I am willing to potentially sacrafice cut quality on the side stones to gain a cheaper price in the setting and then, use it to buy a better quality center stone.

I appreciate all of the comments and great points, anyone have any others before I go and get crazy throwing around some money?

Tony,

Mata brings up a good point, but the stones on the sides are likely to be extremely small. If they''re well cut (ask Issac!), I wouldn''t worry. Your girlfriend isn''t going to need ideal cut channel set diamonds in the setting. If you''re wanting to wow her, put the money into the center stone. The whole thing will be beautiful!

Love the new choice! Hope it works out for you. Keep us uodated!

Personally, I would try and stick to a VS2 clarity if you are that hung on having a mind clean diamond. I have an SI2 and can never see my inclusions. Going and taking a look at actual diamonds can help show you the differences.

and yall are KILLING me with that Kirk Kara!

Maybe one day.... with a funky sapphire.. mmmmmmmm!

Well, I think it's decided. I'm going to buy the ring recommended by Ebree and put a center stone in it about 0.61 carats or so. Last step is to determine if the GF's finger was 7 or 7.5 (she's a gymnast and has more muscular hands)...........lol, but I have her roomate stealing a ring she wears all the time on that finger tomorrow and getting it size checked for me

Once I get that size back, I think the purchase is going to be made. Thanks again to everyone who has helped in this process with photoshops, recommendations, suggestions, comments, concerns, etc. I love you all!

Anybody have an opinion on this men's ring?

http://www.signedpieces.com/item.cfm?item_id=2376

I think it's great because it incorporates diamonds into the band without making it look feminine at all (IMO). Also, it's not too wide, it's a comfort ring, and I just thinks it's great.

Anyone feel like chiming in?

Thats pretty cool.... i like it! Looks like a mans ring.

I think I would hold off on buying wedding bands for either of you just now and purchase a larger center stone for the e-ring.
If you like the facets wedding band go for it.

I love that SP wedding band. Actually, it's a contender for when the time comes to purchase one for my boyfriend! When we were out trying on engagement ring styles to see what I liked, my boyfriend saw this Scott Kay band. He tried it on and fell in love! The only problem, I couldn't believe how much it was ($2,670)!

Then, I did a little research and found the Signed Pieces band that you posted on their website. It's the same basic design, except that it is 1 mm thinner (5mm vs. 6mm) and the diamonds are baguettes (0.64 CTW) instead of rounds (0.24 CTW). Depending on what quality of diamonds you want them to use, the price for the SP is $1,512 - $1,756 (in my boyfriends size- prices go up or down based on size as well). I couldn't believe the price difference! I think that when the time comes, I will order that band so my boyfriend can try it on and see if he likes it as much as the Scott Kay (SP has a great return policy. You can return any item within 30 days for a full refund). If he doesn't, I guess I'm getting the Scott Kay!

Oops! I forgot to attach the picture of the Scott Kay! Here it is for comparison:

Oh the Scott Kay ring is nice as well, though I think the Facets ring looks more masculine to me. Perhaps becuase the diamonds are more linear?

I think so too.

Yes, I like the SP ring better as well but the Scotty is quite nice. I didn''t intend on buying this now, just looking around

BIG update here:

ISAAC IS THE BEST!

Here''s a point I would like to make about channel set bands with diamonds...it''s probably not a big deal to some people, but I happened to notice something about my wedding band Halloween night at a party that I normally wouldn''t have. I was at a party where there were blacklights set up (stop laughing, I know this is kind of silly!) and I noticed that 3 of the 18 stones in my band were glowing blue due to fluorescense of the diamonds! It was something my husband and I hadn''t bothered to educate ourselves on before we bought the band, and it really kind of bothered me to know that the stones didn''t match! I''m not saying that this is a normal, everyday situation, because it wasn''t for me, but just knowing now that my stones aren''t equal in terms of fluorescense bugs me! Just something to think about, especially if you care about that sort of thing and since you''re looking for a sapphire and diamond band.
