Heeeelp!

I got engaged on Thursday, and I can''t stop looking at my ring and I am sooo afraid something will happen to it. Anyone else have this problem? I think Erin said she was.

I still have that problem and I''m engaged over four months now. I look at it all the time especially when I''m driving as it seems to be at it''s most firey when I''m in my car! Enjoy it!

I've had mine for 2 months (although it was gone for 3 weeks of that for sizing and "speed bumps") and I still look at it all the time. But I've stopped worrying so much about hurting it, partly because mine is simple and solid, and partly because it just takes a little while to get used to how tough it really is

We got engaged last May, on a Saturday night. That following Monday, I was on my way to work and I was driving with my hand propped up on the steering wheel so I could gaze at my ring. The next thing I knew, I was being pulled over for speeding. I ALMOST tried to get out of a ticket by telling the police officer that I had JUST gotten engaged to see if he''d be nice and let me off. I didn''t though (but I also didn''t get a ticket).

I still catch myself staring at my ring though. I did today actually, at a meeting (I was bored out of my mind).

Keep looking! I''ve forgotten about it most of the time now... got my hand stuck in my dresser drawer last week and oops!!

I popped the stone right out of my ring, and in the process cut my finger up quite a bit. Luckily I found the stone easily enough so I just have to send it in and get it fixed, but my hand is still hurting a bit. And I''m sad that I can''t look at it right now.

But I hear it will look bigger when I get it back!

and congrats on your engagement!!!

We''ve been engaged for over five months now and I''m STILL obsessed with staring at my ring, so don''t feel bad!

I''m not as concerned about something happening to it anymore--we went to a rock concert the night we got engaged, and I was TERRIFIED that the diamond would fall out at the concert. I kept on feeling it to make sure it was still there! I''m not so nervous anymore, though.

I''ve been engaged for over 5 months now and though I still look at my ring all the time, the panic of something happening to it has basically disappeared. I don''t even think twice about pulling winter gloves over it time and again (man has it been cold this winter in MI!!

), something that made me tense up every single time in the beginning. I notice when I bump it, but my heart doesn''t stop like it used to. I would liken it to a new car - for the first month you''re terrified of something happening to it, but eventually you learn to just relax and enjoy it. Are you still careful? Of course! You just won''t feel so nervous all the time. Enjoy the newness of your ring, stare at it to your heart''s content, and know that you''ll feel more comfortable if you give yourself some time.

Congrats!!

Haha, I had that problem for a while too! I actually had a test about 3 days after we got engaged and I had to turn my ring in because I kept staring at it and couldn''t concentrate!

I think you should post pics of your ring so WE can all stare at it too!

Yay, so pretty!!! I love the diamond on the side/profile view :)

Congratulations!!

I was totally that way, too...
Have you considered insuring your ring? (e.g. w/ Jeweler''s Mutual or w/ homeowner''s insurance like some ppl do...) That way, you can be a little more relaxed and not worry that you''ll lose it...

I HEAR YOU!!! I got mine on Saturday and I can''t tear my eyes away. :)

Yep! Definitely going to do that, it will help some I think. I worry about everything anyway...congrats largirl!! :) I believe I saw your ring, you posted photos, right?

Yep! It''s so fun, isn''t it - this new nice rock thing?? :)

Definitely insure that puppy! I had mine insured a week before I got it. Even though they say they''ll replace it if you lose it etc. It will never be exactly the ring you fell in love with. I fear for my ring too. Sometimes I scare myself and think its fallen off my finger but its still there!

It''s been over 7 months and I STILL stare at my ring all the time! I am fascinated by its sparkliness and can''t seem to help myself!

I do worry less about losing/hurting/damaging it now, but I sure do notice when I catch or hit it on something.

I hope my adoration of my lovely never goes away...but I swear it gets smaller every day!

Haha I know what you meant, but I just got this imagine of you going "AHHH Self the ring is gone!!....Just kidding." Dunno getting sleepy I think, haha. And Harleigh, yes...I believe I also have shrinking diamond syndrome.

I love my ring!! I look at it a lot! I adore the way it sparkles differently depending on where I go. I doubt I will ever stop wanting to just gaze at it!

Um...I've been engaged since last April and I still look at my ring obsessively.

Maybe we need a support group?

Been engaged for 8 months, and I still haven''t looked up.

I''ve been engaged for 19 months, and I still stare at it. Don''t worry!

I read this post and had to chuckle about how nuts I am in comparison... I don''t yet have my ring (but it''s on it''s way, should be here next week...) and so - I don''t have the ring to stare at yet but I spend ALOT of time staring at pictures of the people''s rings that are like mine (it''s a yg vatche royal crown, so thankfully there are pics to stare at!!!!)

how silly am I? lol

Been engaged ...7 months? and I''m still obsessed with the Bulgari Beast, lovingly clean it, stare at it constantly.

As for the being afraid you''ll hurt it thing, I had a heart attack at least once a day for the first few months. Every little tap and I was

Now it''s more like every other day.
