Anyone bought from them? Some of the gems look nice. Thoughts on the cuts? I like the colors of some of the chrysoberyl. I'm trying to find a good neon colored one thats not too big

@Bonsai Haven't ordered from them but have looked at their stones which look nice and their feedback looks positive! Their chrysoberyl look nice. I also spotted an unusual green zircon. :kiss2:

Where are you located?
If you have any inkling you may wish to return something, look very very closely what your country can and cannot ship to his country.
Look at videos as well as photos.
I only had one transaction with him and
it was a weird experience to put it bluntly.
And the listing photos were very very flattering to the stone.
I won’t lie and say I haven’t been tempted by other stones of his- but I’d use his business associate that’s based in the USA. I’d expect to pay more, but think it’s worth it. Oh- I forgot, that USA based guy ( that I’m not sure admits to being a business associate of caratzone) seems to be a real jerk. Actually I wouldn’t.

Tell me how was it weird? who is his associate in the US?

I received multiple spellings /address formats for his return address. Two were not recognizable as valid addresses by my local USPS office. Maybe because I’m in too podunk a rural area? But this is the part that really made me question if the stone would ever make it back.

I followed his instructions for international shipping paperwork. Post office refused to accept the paperwork twice due to conflicting customs form information he had me fill out.

His country has strict allowances of what can be shipped there from USA and other countries. This was the issue he was trying to skirt with vague and inconsistent customs form information. My fault for not checking that out first.

He suggested I send it to his USA business associate, Jim McCormick. Jim is one of the CS vendors that lump a few negative experiences with a whole group of (PS) consumers, and is pretty publicly verbal about his hatred.

TY why did your return the stones?

I bought a spinel from Minnas/CaratZone when he first opened his Etsy shop like 3,4? years ago. I know that he primarily designs jewelry. It was a really good spinel for the price with a very good commercial cut. Almost free honestly. I am happy with it. I wanted a denim gray/blue. The only thing I don't like is his new picture style, I wish he'd go back to the natural light hand shots he used to do- they were very accurate. I don't know why he's using the stupid glamour shots. I haven't done any returns, yet. So, I'm curious to know, as well.

This was two years ago, and in looking back - I now remember the vendor video looked exactly like the listing photo.

This was very similar to what I saw to my eye in my geographical location, and shaded natural sunlight was not very different

I returned because it has too much dark patterning from what I expected from the video and was prevalent all the time.

Whoa, huge difference! And a bummer.:(sad
That's one of the new glamour type photos and they obviously turned out to be not accurate at all. I find it so frustrating that they do this. I would've returned it too. Makes me hesitant to try him again, honestly.

I'm a photographer and I was looking at his images and there was something I couldn't put my finger on but thats what it is; he's cutting the contrast...

Hi!!!

Page 2 on this thread will outline the adventure I had with this vendor!

After reading that, I don't think I'll ever buy from there again, tooooo risky!

Some of the best chrysoberyl comes from
Tanzania. I’m not too enthused about the Sri Lankan material.

His photos look definitely manipulated.

I’ve noticed his photos of the table of the gem face down are desaturated and more muddy than the face up shots, like this example.
