So, my Rolex ladies Datejust is finally conking out, after 14 yrs of faithful service!
4.gif

I''m looking for a new watch for daily wear, nothing too flashy. I did think about getting a FM, with studded diamonds but it''s awfully expensive and flashy for everyday wear. So, I''m thinking something not too plain but still unique enough to wear on a day-to-day basis. I also like more chunky watches, not the typical little dainty ladies type (no offence to those who have these watches, just not my personal taste!
1.gif
).

My budget is about $2-5k, preferably towards the lower end of the range.

Thanks.

HI:

Have you checked out Signed Pieces?

cheers--Sharon

14 years is nothing for the Rolex work horse!Send it back to a Rolex service center(I send mine to the center in Texas and no where else!)and get it cleaned and over hauled. They will make the watch run and look like new!If you just need a change in the look of your watch then I think the Omega Constillations are a nice choice!

Nooooo! Don't ditch the Rolex. Send it in for a tune up. Mine is from 1982. I still love it but it does need servicing. A couple of years ago, when my Rolex became a quarter century old
9.gif
I got myself a stainless steel x-large carre Chopard with Happy Diamonds. Now I need to get the SS band. It has worked out well and is a nice counterpoint to the Rolex.

Here's a pic:

Blu, your Chopard is gorgeous!!!

I agree with the other posters, Phoenix. Just send your Rolex to Rolex for an overhaul. Mine is circa 1993 and it''s still going strong! But you can still buy another watch

Thanks for your suggestion, JM. I've actually had it serviced at the Rolex service centre in Singapore during the last ten years and the last time it cost me approx USD400! Ouch! Regardless, I'd still like to do it next time I'm in SG and will prob have to ask a friend to collect it for me as it takes approx one week. I don't think there's one in Shanghai where I live now.

I would like a new watch, a new look (I was thinking I'm a bit tired of the Rolex, having worn it daily for 14yrs).

Although I do have a fair number of diamond pieces, I seem to be stumped when it comes to watches. I just cannot seem to decide what I'd really like. I do like the Omega Constillations but one of my friends has just purchased an Omega and as much as I love her, she's a bit particular about anyone else close to her wearing similar things to what she has! I remember one time I was seriously considering purchasing a secondhand Lucida, and as she has the Lucida for her ering, she was not a happy camper at all - said that you had to have a certain style and flair to carry off the Lucida!!
4.gif
(which was funny because it was I who had actually introduced her to Tiffany, having been a fan of Tiffany for a long time, and who'd suggested that she chose the Lucida for her ering!! Oh well...)

This is GORGEOUS and is a serious contender. I have to go try it on at the shop and see how it sits on my wrist. I have very small wrists (6") and although I love slightly larger watches, they don't always sit well on me....kind of like I like them but they don't like me...
5.gif
.

Tell me, is this Chopard well within my budget or just stretching it a smidgen? I'm saving up furiously for my 5carater RB. Btw, I am absolutely in love with yr EC (heck, I love both of yr AMAZING rings - but I just can't afford a RB of that size and colour, clarity!
7.gif
). I can't believe your EC is an L. Does it have strong blue fluor? I'd love to have a big and beautiful EC like yrs one day.

Why do you need to get the SS band? Which one is it and is it meant to go with the watch? Enquiring (oh ok nosey

) mind wants to know, he he!!

I see you're in serious buying mode, girlfriend!

Just saw in another thread that you bought an M coloured stone to be set as a pendant. Can't wait to see pics. I'm soooooo tempted to buy one of GOG chunky cushions. There're some L and N stones that I'm seriously eyeing!
2.gif
I'd love to get one and have it set as a RHR. If only I wasn't saving up for my 5carater!

Phoenix, I was also looking for a watch for day to day use, nothing flashy but modern looking and today, I decided on the Cartier Roadster. I will be getting it soon.

No way!!!!

I was just going to say that this is my watch! I love it so much. First, it is so simple in design, so comfortable on the wrist, so easy to dress up or down! Plus, you can change out the bands to get a whole different look.

I have to say that I don`t regret buying this watch for a second (even though I couldnt get it wholesale).
10.gif
. It feels really understated and is not too show-offy because most people don`t know what it is.

You''ve got a beautiful watch, DiamanteBlu!!!

My wrist is 6" too and the watch fits fine. Some others I tried on were too big - they just looked silly.

When I got the Chopard it was within your budget. I did not get it from Chopard [they wanted a figure that was over your budget] but from a Chopard authorized dealer. The authorized dealers are "flexible" on price.

Thanks for the compliments on my rings. I don't think that my EC has any fluorescence. I'll have to look at it under some black lights to see if it "glows". LOL!

I want to get the SS band because I find metal bands to be more comfortable than leather. When I got the watch it was a new model and the SS band was not available yet. It is an arm and a leg [over $1k] for a hunk of SS so I keep putting it off. I'm sure that I will break down and get one eventually - maybe next summer when it gets hot again and the leather is at its worst!
9.gif

ETA And yes, getting a tune up on a Rolex is outrageously expensive! I hate having to do it!

EATA I misspoke on the discounting. Mybe it is Chopard in NYC that is more inflexible as to price. Chopard in Puerto Rico was willing to deal at the same level as the authorized dealers on the mainland.

What about a Cartier Ballon Bleu? Elegant, unusual and chunky!

Here is my new Omega Iris Small Constellation that I got for my birthday. I love it!

Cool! Love the colorful hour markers!

The Omega Constellation is an elegant option. I love the Cartier designs. They are just so classic. The Tank never goes out of style. Hermes makes some wonderful, simple watches that are great everyday options. For something classic but a little different, you might take a look at Patek Phillipe''s designs.

I did a quick google. Apparently, there is a Rolex in Shanghai.

Check it out

SS, thanks for that. The Cartier Roadster is def on my list. It looks elegant and no nonsense...kind of like me really!

Blu, thanks very much for the detailed reply. I think I''ll check out the authorised dealers in SG next time I''m there. Usually they offer up to 30% (depending on the brand) off the retail prices.

Btw, I misunderstood what you wrote previously. I thought you meant that you wanted to a get a new Singlestone eternity band to go with yr watch!! Now I realise you meant "Stainless Steel". Silly me, he he!

That''s very pretty. I was considering that too, but seriously I don''t think my friend would like me to get an Omega!

BeGatch, you have my dream watch! Since I can''t possibly afford the Curvex with diamnonds, I tried the one without ... seriously NOT the same effect[:knockout:

Thank you ladies!!! I''m getting a lot of compliments on it and I honestly thought that because Franck Muller is not as known around here as maybe Rolex or Cartier people would not notice but wowza they really have!

Carebear, this was my dream watch also, when my DH gave it to me I almost fainted tehe! Have you looked at the Franck Muller watch that has colored numbers? I forget what it is called but I think it looks really cool and it isn''t as expensive...

'Blu-I've seen that watch before (when I was looking at Chopard Happy Diamond jewelry), but I have to say that it still amazes me. Maybe because I really, underneath, still like some of those Happy Diamond pieces. Maybe because you have exquisite taste. Whatever the reason, I covet it. I covet a lot of your jewelry. You have fabulous jewelry!!! Now when is the 7 carat diamond going to be cut? You have a few diamonds in the 4-15 carat range already, don't you? At least two?
