So I got promoted yesterday, I''ve been at my job for 1 1/2 years and this is my first promotion so I''m VERY excited. So to celebrate I would like to get myself a gift with a budget of about $1000 (could possibly stretch it to $2000 but would prefer not to). I''m having the hardest time spending money!

Here are what I''m thinking about so far, in the order of favorite:

- Small eternity: With my budget it doesn''t allow too many options though. A nice stackable ring would allow me to expand on it, like my next promotion next year

- Another gemstone ring. Since I have a strict budget, I''m considering a decent stone with a simple inexpensive solitaire setting. Can I afford Jeff White stone with my budget? I''d just LOVE to be able to do that.

- Diamond studs! Been wanting a pair for some time, every girl should own a nice pair of studs right?

- A pendant. Again, this would be a great classic piece to own.

What do you guys suggest?

I vote pendant or studs!

I vote pendant! And congrats!

Just wanted to say congrats!!

I think all of your ideas are great. I love the pendant idea. I also love the Jeff White gemstone idea, though since you already have gemstone rings maybe it's a lower priority? All of your ideas are things I have on my own "to buy" list, so I'm really no help!

You may not like my answer...diamond studs or a pendant are exactly my choice...items that can be worn for years to come simple round brilliant studs or a RB or pear cut solitaire ...heres the catch...Dont buy for the sake of buying ...at least right away...maybe put the $$$ in a special jewelry account and keep adding to it until you find the size and quality you really want and love...a little waiting and saving has yielded me pieces that i wouldnt have had if i bought right after a special experiance i wanted to celebrate with jewelry...The planning and antisapation building is fun and when i find the right piece then i dont feel guilty about spending the money in the account.

I like the idea of studs, especially if they are something you''ve wanted for a bit.

I think you could afford a Jeff White stone on your budget easily, depending on what you want. But I am a bit partial to Jeff because his cuts are so amazing

The other I would agree to is studs, because depending on how big you want to go you could get something really amazing.

studs studs studs studs studs!!!!

This is actually an excellent idea and thanks for suggesting it. I''m giving it a serious thought, although the temptation to get something nice NOW is extremely difficult to resist

Otherwise I think I''m leaning towards either a pendant or studs, since both are classic pieces I can wear everyday and I don''t own either of them. Ring is tempting because I enjoy jewelry I can look at myself, but pendants or studs would be a great piece to build my collection with. I was thinking about getting a small pendant than upgrade for my next "celebration" opportunity

I just LOVE the stones he cut, and I have a dream of owning a JW stone with LM setting on day *DROOLS* I might make this a long term project though, just so I can afford to get exactly what I want.

Baby blue,
Im glad you like the idea...i planned for my Rolex this way and also my 2.54 RB diamond...because i waited and found a better deal on my Rolex i had enough left over in the account to buy a 1.01 princess cut diamond.Keep in mind that i did cheat from the account and bought a few sterling pieces or gold pieces under $100 as i waited to buy the right big pieces.

My Jeff White sapphire was under your budget...

Congrats on your first promotion!

Jeff White is a fantastic cutter! Have you considered a stone cut by him and set as a pendant, or were you thinking more along the lines of a diamond for that purpose? Studs would also be another way to go too.

I vote for the studs. I bought mine as a gift for myself and I love them

Congratulations! I would go for studs.

I also vote for the studs...everyone does need a pair of studs...

I love my studs (which were just slightly over 1K). If you want a stacking ring check out Beverly K''s line. Affordable and so pretty!

I vote for studs too. This was my year to get studs, and it really is a classic thing you can wear alot.

I also vote if 1000 won''t get you to where you want, to put it in a savings account to grow to where you want it to, or get them now but a set you can upgrade!

Congratulations on your promotion! When I was promoted I bought myself a journey pendant to symbolize the milestone. Of course, this is easy for me to say because I already have studs - but either would be an excellent choice. My journey pendant was a 1ctw and was in the 1k range. Of course this was nearly 2 years ago, but hopefully it helps.

Again - congrats!!
