Centerpiece Trial- Run

I would like a better idea of what my centerpieces will look like, so I called my florist up to schedule some time to have her do a mock up for me. She seemed very surprised by this, as if it was a strange and unreasonable request and wanted to know if a picture of something similar would be sufficient. I am spending close to 5k on my flowers and am really relying on the centerpieces as the only real decor, is it unreasonable to want to see what my centerpieces will look like? I thought it was a farly common thing to do...

When is your wedding is it soon? Depending on how far out it is they can''t really create an exact mockup for you because flowers are seasonal.

Mine''s in October and my florist is having me come look at some work she''ll be doing in the summer for other weddings with similar themes. Also florists may charge you for a full centerpiece mockup since it does take time and money to make them. Your florist SHOULD offer some alternatives to you for viewing a centerpiece though other than ''take my word for it'' so to speak.

NOPE. Not unreasonable. In fact many of the florists I''ve been calling will offer it for a charge if you are under as certain $$ amount, or free if you are over a certain dollar amount. Here, it''s been over 3000K they offer it free. Also, they might try to plan it at a time when they will have similar flowers to yours in stock... like if they have another event using similar flowers or whatever. But it''s not unreasonable at all. I''ve asked for it, and none of mine have been surprised. Of course, I''m very honest about the fact that I''ve worked in the floral industry before and have high expectations. If you are paying 5K in flowers, I think you can easily expect a mock up.

When I worked at a florist it was not uncommon at all for her to do bouquet and centerpiece mock ups. She didn''t just do mock ups for weddings, but also corporate events, etc. I hope you can get her to agree to do it for you!
