channel set ring advice, please help

my finance purchased a ring off of blue nile, and the channel setting on the ring is to my degree of knowledge not of great quality. infact, there is visible spacing between two of the channel set diamonds. we returned the ring and the spacing was minimalized, however there is still a visible space when examined closely. even when i hold the ring up to the computer screen i can still see a line of space between the fourth and fifth channel set diamond.i am wondering if, THIS IS COMMON? or, is there to be no spacing between the diamonds. I AM VERY UPSET, because after we got engaged we had to ship the ring back to blue nile and wait another three weeks for it to return. WELL, it arrived today and i still feel as though there should be no visible spacing. along with the small space, there is also salt grain sized marks in the platinum above the area where they tried to minimalize the space. is this common? am i being to picky? i was hoping for some professional advice. when i called blue nile, they told me that one of their senior ring advisors approved the ring to be of their standards.

please help...i need some professional advice.....

There is no space between the diamonds in my channel setting.

Do you have a picture of what kind of space we''re talking about here???

I think that if you''re not happy with it, and this is the best they could do to rectify the situation and you''re STILL not happy with it, it needs to be returned, money refunded, and you go elsewhere for a channel set band. There should be no obvious marks from where they tried to fix the ring. They should have sent you a new one.

the channel setting is made up of princess cut diamonds. i dont know if it would be different if the diamonds were somthing other then princess cut. there is also a main stone in the middle. i love the ring, and just want it to be perfect, the spacing is visible when help up to light. i am going to take it to an appraiser tommorrow. since it has already been returned once, i am not very happy right now. i am hoping we re- instated the 30 day window, due to the fact that it arrived today? must check up on that as well.

thank you for your response. i am not sure what is expected for what cost. the cost of the ring was 6300 dollars. the main stone is a princes cut 1.01 PR H VS1 78.9%/77%. The channel set princess diamonds are only of si1 quality and color grade h. does this information help at all? thanks- jess

I think I have the same exact ring as yours from Blue Nile. There is absolutely no visible space between any of my channel set princess stones.

You should be able to return the ring completely within 30 days. If they aren''t making you happy, then you should return it. Or... tell them you want an entirely new setting.
