I did a search and this thread hadn''t been updated in a long while so I thought I''d take inventory of all the new girls.

What is your china pattern??????

How many settings? Do you have flatware to match? Did your FI/FH/DH/SO get an equal say in choosing?

I bring all this up because my dilemma is that I originally chose Waterford ''Kilbarry Platinum'' with Kate Spade''s ''Corona Grove'' for accent plates and pieces. FI does not like ''Corona Grove'' -- he likes Kate Spade ''Pebble Point'' so I am at a loss for what to do.

Let''s dish and discuss

We're being deeply boring...

My cleaning lady isn't the most careful person I know - nor for that matter is FI - so we are registering for John Lewis's White Bone China.

A set of 4 28" plates is about $70, so if we break some it's cheap to replace. It's also a pattern that will continue for the forseeable future.

I really want a set of sterling silver flatwear - I'm planning on getting an antique set: large and small forks, knifes and spoons, teaspoons, coffee spoons. Sad thing is I love 'Old English' pattern - as does everyone else...

. It's the most simple pattern and I already have serving pieces in it. I could probably find a set for 6 on ebay for around $1.5k as opposed to $5k for a modern set.

Because I want an old set, I'm really hoping my grandmother, who approves of such things, might give me some money towards it. She normally likes to give a cheque with stipulations on how it is spent for birthdays, christmas and weddings. Normally she wants me to buy jewellery - drat

FI rejected loads of china patterns - he hates anything fussy or frilly.

He totally doesn't get my wanting sterling flatware - but I grew up with the family silver coming out at Christmas and special occasions and I love the gleam it has on the table, and I like the idea of having a set that can be passed on in the future.

We'll probably put a modern set of normal flatware on to keep him happy.

Here's my china:

I have two lovely sets of China already. My everyday is Wedgewood white (16 place settings) and my 'nice' set right now is John's grandmother's vintage platinum band china (discontinued LONG time ago) but's it's got EVERY PIECE you can possibly imagine for 12. But I'm still registering for my china.

Waterford Brocade set for 12 . With Vera Wang Classic as my crystal. I'm most excited to get the crystal as it will match everything I have beautifully.

Ours is Knightsbridge by Wedgwood. FI was actually quite involved in its selection -- his family has always been into having elaborate meals and using china, crystal and silver. We didn''t register for silver because his family has a set that they plan to give us someday, according to FI.

We registered for 8 place settings, because we thought that would give us the best chance of getting a full set. We registered for 8 sets of flatware, 8 sets of crystal, 8 sets of everyday dishes, etc. We figured that we could always add more later.

We (really I and my bff<---yes I feel about 13 years old saying that!) picked the Venetian Lace pattern by Lenox, which was surprising because I tend to gravitate towards the really simple and modern patterns. The salesperson advised me not to go for some of the patterns by Vera Wang and Kate Spade b/c they are really hard to replace once discontinued. It was good to know b/c I was leaning towards a couple of really modern patterns by them. In the end, I chose this one b/c it looked really nice laid out as a setting, and I feel like it will still look really nice in the future.

ETA: We registered for 12 settings. Btw, FI wanted nothing to do with picking out China.

Vera Wang Lace Gold!

We registered for 6 settings, since we''re not big entertainers. Not sure if we''ll actually get any places bought for us on the registry, but I thought I''d go ahead and register for some nice china just in case!

We also registered for casual Corelle sets. FI didn''t have a say...he doesn''t care very much.

We have registered for 8 placesettings of Waterford''s Kilbarry Platinum, as well as 8 charger plates from Thomas O''Brien/Reed and Barton in the platinum "Marielle" pattern (very hard to find a pic online in all platinum!) Of course, we fell in love with the look at the store, only to find out after we registered that the charger plates are on backorder. I hope that there are more available closer to our wedding!!

We initially were going with the Wedgwood Opal pattern, but then I decided to go with something very basic that we can jazz up using chargers or accent plates. I think the Kilbarry Platinum will be a classic for a really long time!

Our crystal is the Waterford Siren, which wasn''t necessarily my first choice (I liked the Lismore Nouveau), but I had to let my fi pick something

It''s a gorgeous, simple pattern, though, and I do love Waterford ...! I have a few other Lismore pieces (candlesticks, ice bucket) and some Clarion pieces (the large footed bowl) but I think it''ll all tie together just fine.

I have Waterford Giselle fine china, 8 5pps, Vera Wang Fidelity stemware, goblets and ice bev for 8, and Yamazaki Alexandra Ice flatware, stainless for 8. I pretty much selected three patterns and possible matches for them and then we narrowed it down to our final choice together. He wasn''t to picky about what we chose for anything, he only made sure to say "no" if he really didn''t like something which didn''t happen to often. Oh, and neither of us want sterling, to much maintenance for us.
