I decided on a custom wedding gown since I want something with a formal, weddingy feel but in green. My mom''s friend had her dress custom done and it was NOTHING like what I had in mind. Many of the local places are too busy to do my dress even though I am not getting married for a year. I have been looking and seen a number of places that make you a custom wedding dress in china. I would dismiss the idea except when I was in China I did see a lot of cheap, very well made clothes. I think I read someone on here had bought a dress from one of these sources, but I was wondering if anyone knew about these and if they are even worth the small amount of money.

Here is picture of the dress I like:

I had my bridesmaids' dresses made and it was a disaster. I didn't have it done in China either. Have you exhausted all premade options? I found a couple in green but they aren't in the same style you posted.

Here's one of them:

Unfortunatly, I have gone through most of the premade options. I need a saturade color since my skin is so pale and it needs to be a blue green so that me next to my FI who will have a red vest do not look like a christmas decoration.
Even in white, that is the only dress that I have seen and liked and have seen nothing that has all the features about it I like.
I know one girl who loved who did her custom dress, but they did a very different type of dress and were less inclined to help with my style.
If you have seen this dress premade somewhere that would be creat, but I have had no luck.

Hi brazenirishhussy,

I had my dress custom-made from a Chinese company. Their website is at www.1koo.com . They have lots of different styles - from formal to informal to beach and maternity wedding dresses. And for very reasonable prices too! Mine cost $89.00. It took about a month to be made and I got it shortly after that by DHL.

I was pretty pleased when I got it. The fabric was nice and thick, and it looked pretty much like the photo on their website. Their was an area in the waist that didn''t fit properly though, so my seamstress fixed that. Other than that, it was fine.

b_i_h,

Have you looked at Quinceanera gowns? Some look like wedding gowns but come in other colors. Mary''s Bridal has Quinceanera gowns that look similar to the picture you posted for under $500:

I'm sorry, I missed the post about that being your dream dress. I've heard good things from brides about Julius Bridal (they custom make dresses based on more expensive designs), so that might be worth a look.

I''m not sure if this an option, but if you found a white dress that you loved... could you get it died green? You can have the seamstress test different dyes on swatches of the dress fabric to see how it takes to color and find the perfect shade of green.

I would hate to have you spend the money and not be happy with the dress, the fit, the color, the material etc. I would be a bit wear buying sight unseen or not even being able to try the dress on to see if you like the fit or if it is flattering on you.

Good luck!

This bride was looking for a dress very similar to what you had in mind.

Your dream dress has a very "period" feel. Have you considered working with seamstresses who specialize in rennaisance, medieval, or even "fairy" costuming? Here are some googled options:

Demetrios has some Quinceanera gowns... these are white but maybe they could make it in a greenish-blue since they do make gowns in that color?

You could email them (and others that were suggested) and ask.

i was thinking the same as blueyes can''t the dress be dyed??

It might be, but where do I find the dress in the picture to have it dyed?
I did look at a lot of quinciniera gowns, by the skirts were too wide for me (I am only 5''2).
I thought about doing a dress and adding a bolero with the right sleeves, but I have a very round face and need a v neck.

The ones you posted are lovely minims. They are a little heavy for my small frame, but I emailed the company to see what they had that was close to the one I like. In the meantime, if anyone could tell me where the dress I liked originated, I would be eternally grateful. I am pretty sure the chinese place is knocking off another design.

From what I understand, only satin can be dyed properly.

What about this dress? From what I''ve heard Lisa (dressmaker) is uber helpful about doing custom stuff, and I bet she could make it in Satin and would probably even dye it for you! It''s worth a shot!
