Choosing The Perfect Ring!

Financing would be a great option, but for now I'm going to try to save up as much as I can. I really want to make this special for her, regardless of how much the ring ends up costing me. She deserves the best, and I'm going to give her just that :)

By the way, when a description reads 'eye clean' (referring to an SI1 and SI2 clarity) is this okay? Would any of the inclusions show?

you would have to ask the vendor what their definition of 'eye-clean' is.

also what about getting a simple solitaire soon-ish and then upgrading the setting for a later anniversary?

I really hate to see a couple put and engagement on hold to afford an expensive designer setting like Tacori. Does your gf know how long she will wait for that? :wink2:

Me, I would but a nice diamond I can afford in a simple solitiare and propose and enjoy being engaged and everything it entails, and then save up for a designer setting for an anniversary present.

Most women -- in fact every woman I can possibly imagine -- would rather be engaged now with a simple solitaire than wait a year or more to be engaged with a fancy tacori.

I agree with everyone else. If I were you I would buy the diamond now, diamond prices keep getting higher, and uprgrade the setting later. A tacori is going to set you back 5000 or more without a center stone. For a new couple starting out on a tight budget I think that would be unreasonable. When you guys are more financially ready then upgrade :appl:

What about a diamond like this from WF

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2632179.htm

Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 1.1 - Excellent
within TIC range

And a setting like this with a little flash for sidestones

http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/diamond-settings/rounded-open-cathedral-diamond-engagement-ring-626.htm

It comes to 2019. but I'm sure if you call them they will give you a pricescope discount :twirl:

I think you all might be right. Perhaps I should wait and then upgrade later, once we're both financially stable. And farmer gal - that diamond is amazing! I can't figure out how all of you find these diamonds!

yes, I would upgrade later, she might not want to wait too long!

definitely figure out if she prefers round or princess, some people have a strong preference for one or the other.

I did ask her about it, and she said either would be fine. She was the one who mentioned Hearts and Arrows actually. So I think a round would be a good choice :)

I suggest getting something well cut in a size you can afford, get a simple white gold setting, and propose when you *want to*, not when finances allow you to have a dream ring! I think an ideal cut stone under half a carat is a *very* elegant look and it will knock anyones socks off with its sparkle.

When you are ready, tell us your budget and specs and we can help you!

Thanks everyone, I'm going to focus on saving up for everything right now so that I don't have to worry about payments later. I'm going to stick with the .50-.60 ct diamond, and I hope that once I have everything in order all of you will help me find that perfect diamond. You have all been so very helpful, and I appreciate that so much! Thanks!
