Daughter is selling expansive handbags on e-bay (see other heading about Daughter in Debt

.
I got an email from E-bay from someone with 100% Feedback(687) and saying "Yes, I'm interested in it can you ship it quickly? How much?"

I am having trouble e-mailing out of my current internet provider due to changing to a mac from a pc and so I just get a g-mail account quickly and copy his e-mail (now we are outside of ebay) and respond with shipping price. He e-mails back (outside of ebay) could you click on this link and tell be if it is the same purse as my friend wants? And Yes, I click

it said www.milan-couture/fashion08 My mac said something like no application to open it, so I click a few more times

and then (hangs head really low) call my daughter and see if she can open it on her mac notebook. and she clicks, too

I also go back to ebay and look up the original guy and e-mail him through e-bay. He responds: the e-mail is a scam, don't click, that is how my account got hacked.

OK, you savvy folks--how much trouble am I in? I changed my PW on bank and paypal (whoops forgot e-bay, I'll do that, too.) I did e-mail-ebay.

What can happen with my computer and info?

I was just so excited we were going to sell the purse, and I didn't think.
Thanks

First of all, run an antivirus program, if they installed a trojan to get more info, that will help.
Second, run an anti-spyware program. This is my favorite and it is free: http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
Next, contact paypal and ebay and let them know the situation.
I recommend you check your accounts online frequently for a few days becuase the sooner you let a bank or card company know about the fraud, the more money they will give you back. Only check AFTER you have done the previous steps for safety.

You might also want to consider listing the items on your local craig''s list. If you only accept cash and don''t give them the items until you have the money, you side step some of these problems.

Good luck.

I vote for CL as well...it''s free to post, and you the seller can decide all the terms. Be sure to read through the whole tutorial though, esp the parts concerning scams and fraud. I posted an item on there for the first time today and immediately had a response from someone wanted to send me a check for over the amount of purchase asking me to keep the change. It was such a blatant attempt at scamming that I just laughed and deleted the email. It was absolutely an example of what is posted on CL''s list of potential scams.

Good luck, and be safe! You''ll do fine once you get the hang of it.

I thought mac was better, too, but the machine did run slower, and then this morning (after shutting it down at night) it opens to google with russian symbols in the headings!! I am going to take it to apple store tonight. I am so sorry I put the actual link in I am so stupid many apologies. I have changed my passwords on e-bay, paypal and my bank, but can they read information I type from my computer? Thanks.

its impossible for this too infect a mac.
You may have something else going on, too be on the safe side change the passwords from another computer and dont use the sites from this one until its checked out.
