This weekend we were at the wedding site, and although it was a beautiful and clear day, it was rather windy. Not stormy windy, but because it is right on the ocean bluffs it is always just a bit windy.

My dad said "you know, you''ll probably need a jacket"
Um, sorry dad, brides don''t wear "jackets"

So, I thought maybe a pashmina wrap, or maybe a cute white/off white wool coat for when we are standing around waiting for the next thing to do.
What do you guys think of either idea? Do you have any others?

Here is my dress, again, for referrence. (and because I love any excuse to post it

I'd get something that fastens, just because you don't want to be fussing about how the thing is sitting. Unless you're really used to wearing a shawl, it can feel kind of awkward.

Of course, I'm inclined toward wearing ostrich feathers. But I'm biased.

Happpy, your wedding is in April right? Where is it going to be? I don''t think you will need a coat. That might be a little to heavy.

But now that you mention it, what have other brides worn? I loved Neatfreak''s bolero

but I''m not sure if that will keep you warm

Indy, I haven''t really had much experience wearing a wrap, you make a good point of it being awkward
gtn, I like the bolero too, (i love neatfreak''s everything really, I did steal her photog!) but I don''t think it would keep the wind off me. The wedding is in April, but the northern coast of CA isn''t very warm. I am hoping for a clear day, but there is a good chance there will be fog and definately a breeze off the ocean. Most of the wedding is indoors, the ceremony is the only part outside and I wouldn''t wear a coat/wrap for that anyway. I guess I will just need something for befoe/during pictures, and "hanging out" on the deck of the restaurant.

Oh, maybe I don''t need anything at all?

happy if you need something for the down times, I think a wrap would be great. I am also using Elley. I showed my FI some of her shots and he knew she was the one. I had been going through so many photographer portfolios and he wasn''t sold on anybody until he saw her work.

Hee hee hee...since we're all stealing ideas from neatfreak, think she'd let me borrow her bolero???

I guess I probably won't need one of those in Hawaii, but it sure is cute!!!

ETA: happy, obviously I am of no use to you in this area...I am always cold, so I'd probably be packing some thermals under my dress if I was getting married up there! I think a lovely wrap would look fantastic with your dress, though I love the ostrich feather idea!!!

oh your dress is terribly romantic! i think it would be heard to pair a "jacket" with something that looks so flowing and soft...i think you're better off going the route of the wrap or shawl...

i went with a long sleeved satin bolero but it suited my dress, i had the same issue. outside for me, on the water..bburrr!

Why not do a capelet? I think that would go best with your dress. That way, it wraps around your shoulders elegantly like a shawl, but it has a closure that keeps it in place so you don''t have to fidget.

If you go on ebay and search for ''capelet'' you''ll find dozens of styles. Not just silly ones with ostrich feathers like mine.

I was thinking a caplet too. They are very cute and formal enough for a wedding.
You need to have something for warmth, as Mark Twain said "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Fransisco."

thanks ladies, a caplet sounds nice. I''m not totally opposed to the feathers...
