I think some posters like color change stones as much as I do. Just thought I would post some pictures of a cc garnet I have. When I first joined the forum this was the first stone I posted. I have been meaning to take some more pictures but never got around to it. Until this evening. All were taken under mixed lighting to bring out both colors. No enhancement to the photos required. If I were to change anything the only thig I could do to make the stone appear as I see it is to make a little more green as the blue in the picture is more of a teal color. I don't know why the camera won't pick up the green very well. I often have trouble getting green stones to appear as they do IRL.

LOL!....and Halloween is coming. Wouldn''t that be a nice "trick or treat" to receive??? D...it is gorgeous! Me thinks you captured the green quite nicely. It is extremely hard to capture the true beauty of a gemstone. I vote for some outdoor pics of that future primitive beauty!!!!LOL!!!!

Gorgeous stone!

Thank you all. This really is an amazing stone from a color stand point. One day I may recut.

Harriet, the stone is in the mail. It should arrive sometime in April.

Cushioncutnut, When ever I take a picture outside in natural light all I get for color is a terrible brown hue. Even though I am seeing green with my eyes. Go figure.

Doug your stone is gorgeous. I love it. Do you have any color change sapphires?? I would really love to have one of those too or a garnet!!!

Linda

While not the same stone. This is another cc garnet. No where near the quality of they other. Unless you are going on the better cutting. Anyways this is a good image of what the color photographs like in natural light. Even though I see green IRL. This stone changes from a pretty good reddish straw color to a greenish straw color. Is straw a color??? LOL

Linda I do have some small 4mm CC sapphires. They are very rare as they are colored by vanadium. They CC is kind of weak in most of them but a few have a decent change from greyish green to reddish purple.

colormyworld, Nice looking stone. I always buy colorchange garnets when I see nice ones.

I''m surprised to see you may re-cut it! I thought you liked that type of cutting.

Thanks Gene. Don't get me wrong. I like light return. I just don't like to see it all at once. I would rather see a "lively" step cut with some depth and maybe a little belly so it does not window at the slightest tilt from 90 degrees while looking through the table. I would rather watch the steps dance with color as the stone tilts instead of the light disappering into a window. Colored gemstones (for me at least) do not have to be cut to the exacting standards of diamonds andi In many cases even better than a lot of diamonds.

What a lovely fun ccg. What''s the dimensions of that lovely stone? I have 2 little ones myself bought over 5 years ago. A cushion cut 1.2-ish ct purple/olive green and a pear cut 1.2-ish reddish purple/blue.

Thanks Chrono. It weighs 2.68 cts and is 9.10 x 7.78 mm.

You know I am still waiting for an email about a certain Vietnam blue spinel.

D-....when I first met you, I was intrigued my spinels (still AM!)...but now you got me intrigued by CC garnets. You really do need to take the ultimate picture of ALL of your gemmies! I bet you have almost every gemstone out there!!!!
