Color change gemstone

My daughter wants a color change stone, blue/purple, any ideas where I can find a sapphire or garnet preferable not treated or heated?

Here's a lovely color change sapphire from the Natural Sapphire Company that is untreated and well cut. The only drawback is a very slight bit of color zoning on the left side of the stone, that's only visible from a steep angle. They have a few others as well, but they're either very dark or windowed.

I just wanted to add that, in additional to sapphire and garnet, you might want to also consider spinel. Many show a blue-green in daylight changing to a violet-blue under incandescent. Good luck! Your daughter has great taste!!

budget? Size?

I have a really pretty lavender sapphire that shifts from purple-lavender to lilac-pink but it’s more shifty than changing. It wasn’t very expensive but sapphires will cost a lot more than garnets.

Color change fluorite is an option if on a budget. I haven't seen any IRL to comment on attractiveness/color change. Obviously a soft stone.

This is probably the single largest inventory of CC garnet I came across in my CC garnet search, but they are not the best quality. In my experience with lower quality CC garnets, they are almost totally gray and near-black dark, but with pretty flashes of color.

For something higher quality and more expensive, you can chcek with @tucsontoddsgems on IG. The Kenyan material in particular has a teal to grayish purple CC, eg this one from the aforementioned vendor.

Beat me to it! Some of those African color change garnets are just incredible.

That is a lovely stone but a little out of my price range

I guess I misunderstood when she said Blue to Purple as color change but she meant bi-color actutally

I was looking at a different stone another user linked in another thread and this was just sitting there in the suggestions bar. I'm not familiar with the vendor, but is this what your daughter envisions?

Avondale - that is so cool!

I’ve also had a hankering for a colour change stone. Garnets might be more affordable I think.

Hmm… Trying to think of blue-purple bicolour stones… what exactly does she have in mind?

@Autumn in New England, just putting it out there now - I have been looking at that pink and blue bicolor on Etsy every since it was posted on Nov 29! When I saw it was mentioned here I went through with the purchase - I knew it would be snapped by lurkers otherwise. I am sorry if it was one she would have wanted! I have a tiny one I got on ebay about 15 years ago and have been looking for a larger one since. They seem like very nice people to deal with!

I can’t wait to see what you think of it in person!

It will be a while - I am paying over time and they will be putting it into a ring for me. I will share progress pics! I am thinking halo, Rose gold.
