Color change sapphire

I found this stone in a thrift store today, only $10. How could I resist?

Oh I love that! Does it change from gray to purple? That’s what it looks like from the pictures anyways. Ten bucks...can’t beat that!

I’m sure you can whip up something to set it in too.

It goes from a steely-greenish blue to purple. Way cool! And very hard to photograph.
The camera just wouldn't show the true colors

I swear you find the best stuff, makes me want to pack it all up and move out to where you are. Granted you find things here on occasion but people know what they have most of the time.

This is just so neat, any idea what you will do with it? Maybe a ring or a pendant?

This store never has anything good. I don't even know what made me stop there. Some crazy sapphire mojo?
I don't know yet what I'll do. Probably a ring. What good is a color change sapphire pendant, when you can't look down to see it change?

Well I’m all for a ring, but I know you made that pretty pendant for a diamond so that’s why I said maybe a pendant. In any case, it’s very cool and a great find.

I set the color change sapphire today.
I bought the 14k head at the local gem shop. I dismantled an unattractive vintage promise ring and mounted the head into it.
Sorry for the picture overload!
I wanted to show the dramatic color change, from purple to blue. Very interesting!

Thanks! The promise ring was a thrift store find, and I was never going to wear it, so why not cut it up and make it better?

I wore it today. In the Target store, it looks avocado green.
