I would rather have a well cut, warmer diamond so that it gives me the prettiest sparkle!

I have seen some fabulous warm diamonds that faced up so pretty because they were well cut!

I have also seen some very DEAD D-F diamonds as well!

CUT is more important to me than color for sure... and a well cut stone will pay you back far better than a bright white!

ETA.....

I didn't answer the question!

If it was this case...

2.0ct K SI1 (insert great specs for cut)

or
1.5ct D SI1 (again great cut)

I'd get the 2.0 K... If the only issue was size vs color... I'd go for the bigger warmer stone!

Cut, color, size, clarity (as long as it''s eye-clean!)

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) the more I read PS, learn about diamonds, and go to stores, the more I can start to see warmer colors and it kind of bothers me, so color is very important.

Ooh this was a HUGE balancing act for my FI and I when we went searching for perfect stone. (Thank goodness for PS!!)

My prefs:

1. Cut- I have an Emerald cut 3 stone ering with princess cuts in the band. We searched high and low for a well cut EC and saw many much larger EC''s that had NO life @ all because of they way they were cut.

2. Clarity- again because I have an EC this became important to me because without a VS or higher you can def see things in an EC! We ended up with a VVS2.

3. Color- We ended up with an F color stone that I absolutely love....but I was dead set on an icy white EC...I saw many warmer ones that were very pretty but just not right for me

4. Size- I learned very quickly with EC''s that to have the first 3 the higher up the scale of those 1-3 you go the more $$ it will cost. In the end it was def. worth it and I adore my ring!!

But man oh man did I realize how important it was to REALLY search!!

Cut would definitely be my number one also, then probably the other three linked in together. I like a mindclean stone too so for clarity I''d like to keep it in the VS range, for colour I don''t mind so much so long as it''s faces up white for the majority of the time, and then the size I''m not too pushed about but as much as I could get in my budget depending on the colour/clarity.

For me it is always CUT first. Next an eye clean clarity I would want to see nothing with the naked eye.
Than of course SIZE followed by Color.

When I first came to ps my thought process was: cut color clarity size Then after being here a while and realizing that if I got an amazing cut stone I could drop down in color and no one would be able to tell.

My process then changed to: cut-size-clarity-color.

You would be amazed if I told you how many people look at my stone and tell me how lucky I am that I got an emerald that sparkles. I have two friends with EC''s that commented that the only thing they don''t like about their diamonds is their lack of sparkle. For the most part you''d be hard pressed to find any warmth in my stone from the top down. My setting is so intricate that you don''t get a good profile or gallery view of the diamond so the color for the most part is non existant on its own.

I vote for SIZE, with the clarity and cut being equal. As a person of color, I am just not that impressed with colorless stones. I find I can get away with more warmth. Currently I have a "J" princess ering and a F colored RHR on the way. It will be interesting to compare the colors!

In order of importance to me: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Size.
Ditto.

For me:

Cut
Size
Clarity
Color

The OP asked for color vs size and it''s funny that the majority of answers are "Cut!"

Strictly between size vs color, I''d go for size.

But like others, my order of preference is cut, size, color, clarity. I used to be size, color, cut, clarity until I started reading on here and then experienced for myself what a huge difference cut makes.
