Hi Ladies,

FI and I have decided on our ceremony site and booked our reception venue. The ceremony will be held at the Royal Botanic Gardens and our reception will be held at a yacht club. It will be a roving dinner with cocktail tables, leather ottomans and a few café style tables and chairs so there will be no bridal table, no place settings etc.

Once we booked the reception we had decided on a very simple black and white theme because of the colours at the yacht club (I will attach a photo). However, now we have decided on getting married in a garden I’m wondering if black is the best colour?

I’ll also attach my inspiration board which I made a few weeks ago. Can anyone suggest some colours that would suit both the garden and the reception or if black will be okay?

I only have one of the reception.. this is the glow bar in the colour we have chosen. There will be alot of spot lighting, and the whole venue has the modern, funky look.

What colours do people think for bridesmaids and accents?

Oh my, what an AMAZING venue!!!!!! I''d be digging bright colors such as hot pink, turquoise, yellows, lime greens, oranges, etc. Obviously not all of them together, or you''d have a bag of skittles, but one or two of those colors would look AWESOME at that venue.

PINK! Pink flowers with those black dresses would be fantastic! Or I would say the gorgeous color of green flowers, think green spider mums and orchids. Both colors would fabulous IMO!

I''m very biased as I''m having a black and white wedding this coming August - in my Dad''s beautiful garden backyard ;) Just pick an accent color (I''m using shades of green). Something bright (pink, torquoise) would look amazing with black!
I like the formal look with a touch of fun ;

I love the idea of black and pewter/silver, with bright flowers. I''m also crushing on any shade of green right now for garden weddings, but I''m not sure that goes with the yacht club.

oh....just thought of navy instead of black, keeps it from looking to harsh outside with the garden, but it still stylish/modern enough for the yacht club and you can do any color flowers.

I personally like your inspiration board.

Thanks for the replies everyone.. so black will look okay for the bridesmaids?

Does anyone have any photos of black with bright flowers, such as pink, green ect?

Wow, PP, you are awesome with all these suggestions!!

I really like how the green looks with the black - it would incorporate the garden setting really well.

Another idea that I''ve been toying with myself that might be helpful to you - you could have a slightly different look for the ceremony than reception.

For example, if your bm dresses were black, you could do green/gardeny flowers for the ceremony and for you, than have a "flower change" for the reception. Nothing too elaborate, but maybe incorporate that turquoise you like and have give all the bms (and yourself?) a cool turquoise flower for their hair for the reception. To tie them in, you could even have turquoise elements in the ceremony bouquet, but more subdued.

I was thinking it would be a cool way to separate the serious ceremony portion and the fun, party side of the reception...kinda of like the trend for having a 2nd reception dress to change into, you could have a 2nd color look! Best of Both worlds!!

Thanks, rock! I''ve spent so many hours agonizing over flowers as I''m using bright flowers in my wedding, so I definitely knew all the sites to hit up.

In all honesty, I really like the first inspiration board a lot!
