Hey! How is everyone?

What do you think is better for a Communion gift, FOR THE GODFATHER to give- cash or jewelry (I am thinking a gold cross with initials engraved in the back)
Some people have been saying "usually the godmother will give jewelry"

What do you think?

I personally don''t think just because the gift is coming from a man, that it has to be impersonal. I think the cross is a lovely idea, and one she will surely treasure more.

Now I love getting cash as a gift, lol, but I think that jewelry is even better! The sentiment behind it will stay with her always, so I think that the cross is a very nice idea.

Well, as a mom to two 8 year old little girls, I think they would prefer jewelry over money at this age. Also, I think that a cross necklace from their godfather is something they would save and treasure forever.

It is for his nephew- do you still think the cross is ok or should we do an ID bracelet or something like that?
I just wonder what his godmother will get him and I don''t know her so I can''t ask!

Golden, DH is the Godfather to our nephew and he''s having his first communion in the next few weeks so we just went through this! I had no idea what we should get him since I''m Jewish and have never been to a first communion let alone been anyone''s Godparent. MIL suggested that DH get him a card thingy that has a poem about first communion on the back and a little keepsake box that says "My First Communion" on it.

I think i''d go with jewelry over money. Money will be spent and he''ll never remember what he bought with it years from now, but the cross he''ll be able to keep forever.

I have been a Godmother many times over and I always give the children their own "first" bible, with a nice note inside!

The parents always seem to really appreciate it.

For a boy, this might be a better idea. Or a Saint Christopher medal.
