This ring contains a "Concave Faceted" 2.55 ct blue sapphire which was recut by Richard Homer from a "native" cut 3.05 ct sapphire. For a discussion of the process and several before and after pictures of the stone and the ring, please see the Colored Stones Thread

What can I say! Its truly gorgeous! He really does some amazing work. Enjoy!

It looks wonderful C.
Wow

It looks great! More pictures, please!

Patty, there are lots of pictures (including before and after of the stone and the ring) on page 1 and 2 of the "Amazing Richard Homer Recut" thread of the Colored Stones board.
Here is the link to that thread.

Nan (sevens one) suggested that I post a before and after picture in this thread. So here is a picture of the ring before the sapphire was recut:

Here is an picture of the ring after the sapphire was recut:

Oops, sorry, cflutist, I didn't scroll down far enough on that thread. I thought it was just about the stone, not the whole ring. Again, it's beautiful and quite an transformation!

Let me say again what an awesome ring. Beautiful!

That ring rocks! One day my g/f will get a gemstone cut like that. First she gets the ering

Wow cflutist, that turned out to be amazing! That is a beautiful ring with a very beautiful sapphire now.

I love the setting. It's unique= like that awesome stone.

Looks like a totally different stone. What a difference recutting the stone made. The color is even more beautiful now...A lovely ring.

cflutist,

Is it me or were the prongs also worked on? They seem a bit more narrow and rounded.

Ivy, I don't really know and Wink/I did not discuss it. All I know is Richard Homer removed the stone from the mounting, recut it, and then sent the recut stone and ring back to Wink to have it reset back into the existing mounting.

It is beautiful!

Congrats,

Lori

Wow, what a GORGEOUS color!!! I am amazed at how different (in a beautiful way) it looks after the recut. I actually like the way the slightly smaller post-recut stone fits in that setting better.

Congrats!!!

The ring is shown one side up in the before and the other side up in the after. That is accounting for the slightly different look of the prongs and the fit. The length and width of the stone did not change, only the depth.

Wink

Here are three pictures which show the concave faceting a little better:

ps: does it ever rain at your house? your outside pics are always filled with blue skies and that gorgeous backyard

Yes, it does rain in the San Francisco Bay Area. In fact, it rained 2 weekends ago. Its been overcast the last few days in the morning. When Fed Ex delivered my ring at 9:00 on Wednesday, I was dying to go outside to photograph it but had to wait until after work when the sun was out.

Oh, I see. Well, maybe it's just that the faceting gives it more depth (I don't mean actual depth, just more sparkle deeper inside the stone) so it looks more nestled in the setting. It draws the eye in better than before.

Beautiful work. Congrats again!

I've been real busy at work, so Cflutist has had to fend for herself in regards to taking her ring pictures. Obviously I'm way prejudiced, but I've gotta say, she's doing great! Very nice work for using only one hand on the camera!

As for rain in California..... sure, we get, oh, two or three months of occasional rain. It's even been getting kinda cold lately - it's dipping below 80 degrees now....

Actually, in a more serious tone, people say we live in a "Mediterranean climate".... Lot's of sunny, warm weather, no huge swings in temperature, therefore almost no seasons (summer when all the outside hillsides get brown, and winter, when all the outside hillsides show off their green grass). Our low temps in winter are usually in the mid 40s to 50s (with below freezing temps maybe once every 4-5 years by a degree or two), our high temps are in high 90s, with about 10 days above 100 degrees. I'm not sure exactly how much rain, but it's about 20-25 inches per year, almost all in November to March.

It's a rough life!

Oh, we also get free roller coaster rides sometimes (aka earthquakes).

It surely does draw the eye in much more. It is one of the nicer sapphires that I have held in my hands. There is a richness to the color that defies description.

Wink

WOW! What a difference. The re-cut really makes that stone "pop". Just beautiful!

Thank you for all of your compliments. I was quite pleased with the result. Richard Homer is a master cutter who does amazing work.

I was hesitant at first (due to the loss of weight which would drop it below 3 cts), but now I am sure glad Wink and websailor encouraged me to just "suck up and do it".

Wow !!! beautiful...first it was the 3 ct e-ring ,then the 10+ ct super bracelet now this beautiful sapphire ring.

what will you be up to next ?
