Cool spessartite color

I saw the coolest spessartite in class the other day. It was kind of a weird cut ( trilliant with added features) but the color was so pretty. It was a really pure red orange with no yellow or brown tones. I have a few spessartites myself but none in this color. I''ll have to post mine later for a color comparison if I buy this stone. I have it on hold. Anyone own any in this color? I''ve been looking around for pictures.

I''ve actually only seen that color (kind of like a blood orange? yummy) in faux ebay stones. Did they mention where they got it? It sounds gorgeous!

My teacher has a big collection of stones that he has available for us to purchase. I asked him where he bought it and he said from a husband and wife team who were one of the first to sell stones on Ebay years ago. He showed me some other stones from them and they are all weird fancy cuts so I''m guessing they cut their own stones. I they lived here in San Francisco at some point.

He''s not asking much for it so I think I''m going to buy it.

to IK-yes-idesigned a basic pendent-very simple & had my builder put it together in 14kt yel.-a total of 15 cts of mandarin spess...i dont build-a little designing though...a little better pic...

Spessartites come in a range of colours anywhere from orangish yellow to reddish orange and all the shades in between. While the trade may prefer a pure orange, there's nothing wrong with admiring a different hue. www.atggems.com carries a variety of spessartite colours as well. Are there any that seem to match what you are getting?

A little spoiler since I can''t keep this to myself any more - finally I ordered an LOGR ring for this spess. Stay tuned for pictures - ring is being made so I am not sure how it will turn out but I have to try it. (sorry for thread-hijacking)
