Cosmetic Enhancement for Holidays?

Years ago, my cousin had breast reduction surgery. She was beginning to have some serious back problems and this was way before "regular" folk had cosmetic procedures done. She didn''t tell anyone until after she''d had it done and was well on the way to a complete recovery. I fussed at her for not telling me before hand. I told her that I could have been laying on another table in the same operating room all prepped and waiting for a transplant.

23.gif
''. It''s a running joke between us.
Yeah, lop, that''s kinda like my DH saying (about my former neighbor) "whoa, when did she get those? She didn''t have them when we first moved here......."
20.gif
LOL. "Yes, honey, I''m told she bought them."

Had to chime in to agree w/ Rosie ~ I had my breast augmentation 4 years ago (although mind were $4000) and it was the best money I''ve ever spent. Oh, and there are different ways to place the implant to make them look more natural, if they are placed under the muscle they don''t look so obviously fake. Last May I was in Mexico w/ a couple of friends and some of their friends that I didn''t really know, I was in a bikini everyday, and close to the end of the trip the subject came up and I mentioned mine weren''t real ~ the people that hadn''t known were shocked and said they''d just thought that I just had nice full boobs....

Oh, and the best thing about it is before I had them, whenever I''d raise my arms to reach for something, my bra would pop up ~ I had enough to feel like I needed a bra, but not enough to hold a bra in place. Very annoying. Now the bra stays put!!! And I''ve never heard them slosh.

And the vanity issue. Honestly, I feel less vain now than I did then, because I was always so focused on my chest, or lack of a chest... Finding clothes that fit right, bras that fit, not feeling proportionate, and insecure... Now, I hardly pay any attention at all to any of that kind of thing & I don''t worry about the stuff I used to obsess over ~ it''s actually been a very healthy thing for me.

I need the head to toe overhaul. Can they just stick a nozzle in each heel and suck???

ROFL!!!!!

DF, I don''t know if they charge by the size or not. Mine were $4000. Best money I ever spent! (Probably the only D Flawless I will ever own)

As far as cost for the male enlargement...Hmmm. Can they do that? What guy would sign up? Most can''t even watch another guy (on tv) get kicked without cringing.

Teebee, you said it. That''s exactly how I feel about having it done. Now, I don''t have to even think about my hopeless chest.

I did a report on Male Surgical Enhancement during College... it was not pretty. Since only about 1/3 of the penis is external, they cut the ligament that holds it in the upright position. Once the ligament's cut, the next 1/3 of the penis that used to be internal now drops out. 1/3 remains internal. Then they inject collegen (or was it just fat?) all around the shaft. Result: longer, fatter looking penis.

Downside: Gravity. The injected material will eventually gravitate towards the bottom, and you'll end up with a droopy, lumpy penis. Not pretty.

Most men who opt for this surgery usually suffer from a condition where the penis averages from 1-2.5 inches, erect.

hmmmmm....that might just qualify for TMI... It seems to have stopped this group in their tracks.

well, if it''s 1-2.5 inches while erect, I don''t think it''ll work all that well anyway. I would definitely get it done if I had the condition.

in cold places, to be tanned is seen as beautiful because it implies wealth - the abilty to take foreign holidays. 200 years ago, the fashion was for pasty white skin, because that implied wealth, working indoors in a profession instead of out in the field (origin of the term of abuse, ''redneck'')

on an aesthetic level, I''ll never understand the idea that tanned skin is necessarily more beautiful than pale skin. what is worse is fake tan or tanning machines, all I see around are shallow ''fashionable'' girls (most are horribly insecure) walking around. maybe it is just me, but I think it looks like the umpa-lumpa convention is in town

the opposite is true in asian cultures. to be tan meant that you were of a poor social class and had to work in the fields. porcelain white skin meant that you were wealthy and didn''t have do manual labor outdoors. we wear spf religiously and are told by our mothers to stay out of the sun. unfortunately for my mother, i tan easily and love being outdoors. =)

and regarding boobjobs - does anyone fear the loss of sensation? looks great (in clothes) you feel sexy, but you can''t feel your nipples! ahhh! how ironic would that be?!

yep....that''s what they say and too much sun may cause skin cancer.

HI ButterFly!

I just thought I would contribute to this subject...I have had 9 babies and even after numerous crunches, diets galore, hours of cardio, etc., the loose skin was not going to magically disappear, so for me, plastic surgery made it possible for me to look at myself naked w/o gagging...
face21.gif

The hubby really didn''t care, but obviously appreciates the end results. I don''t mind admiting I had it, mostly cuz I do not plan on donning any bikini on any beach any time soon and it was done for me--not for vanity purposes. I had a major tummy tuck last September and, yes,it was "major." Hip to hip on the length of the scar, but I have healed excellently. Totally difficult on the recovery though...worse than giving birth to all of the nine kids...no c-sections.
face24.gif

I also had had breast augmentation years earlier due to a asymmetry birth defect that had always bothered me. I am no Pam Anderson and have no desire to be one, but in September I had developed a problem on one side--a deflation--so I had a breast lift while I was already scheduling the tummy tuck. My dr. is a Harvard medical school grad and came highly recommended by the 4 other drs I interviewed, so I felt good about my choice. He also does body sculpture with liposcution and that helped alot, though it weird afterward with the recovery. If you really want the graphic details on the recovery, email me direct and I will share that.

The question most have asked me..."would you do it all again?" I would have to say "yes."
emthup.gif
For me, it was either continue to have to fold the belly skin to get into my clothes(on the tummy tuck) or get it done. Also, With the chest issue, I had had it recommended quite awhile back, but waited until I had the time to interview drs and had the $ for what was not covered by insurance.

I feel plastic surgery has its place--like alot of things--but, seriously folks, in moderation.

Hope everyone, Butterfly, doesn''t mind me sharing...I know this is personal stuff, but I really feel its important to know the truth...Thanks...

Not to dig up an old old thread, but I''ve been thinking about breast augmentation alot lately, so I figured I''d see if any other ps''ers have ever thought about it and had or not had the surgery. The only thing keeping me from it (besides price, that is) is that I dont want to have to have repeated surgeries every 10 years or so. Has anyone ever known anyone who did the brava breast enhancement system? It''s these domes that you wear 10hours a day that exert a "gentle" suction. After 10 weeks of wearign them for 10 hours a day, you''re supposed to grow b/c 1/2 cup size and 2 cup sizes (with most people growing 1cup or 100cc). I may call up the dr I had do my nose and ask what he thinks...

Hi Sweetpea -

One of my girl friends used the Brava system last year before her wedding so that she would better fill out her wedding dress. She is naturally an A-cup, and it definitely worked for her. She was a B by the time her wedding rolled around. I was pretty impressed with the results.

She did say that it was uncomfortable to wear and that it didn''t do much for her sex life since she wore that thing almost the entire time that she was at home!

J

hey tiger! Thanks for responding--do you know if your friend''s results were permanent for her, or long lasting? The study only extends 2 years out. I''d much rather be a B than an A!!

She got married in late 2004. I haven''t seen her in awhile, but I believe that her breasts are bigger than they were, but not as big as when she had just finished her Brava regimen...

She wasn''t always consistent about wearing the contraption for 10 hours EVERY day like you''re supposed to. My friends and I teased her about it pretty mercilessly, her husband (then-fiance) thought it was the craziest thing he had seen, and thought it was going to be a waste of money, but he sure was pleased with the results!
2.gif

I wonder if you can go back to using it again if the effects wear off?

I''m waiting to hear from a plastic surgeon in my area that I emailed about this, who has a before and after pic on his website of a patient of his that tried it and it looks like it worked...I''ll keep you posted as to what his thoughts are!

I can imagine being teased badly by friends, so that''s why i''m not telling any of them haha. If it were something like implants that they''d notice I would but I think I''ll pass it off as fortunately placed weight gain if it works!

BTW--FI does think I''m crazy haha.
