I am finally getting around to setting some of my loose stones (about time too!).

I absolutely fell in love with this setting. I love how delicate and sophisticated it is. I think it would look absolutely gorgeous with the pink spinel (my avatar). But I am afraid it will be away over my budget.

Before I bother whiteflash or any other vendor for something that most likely will never be done, would anyone hazard a guess as to how much a similar setting would cost? In my ideal world, the stones would be french cuts, but emerald or princess cuts would also work well. I would also have the diamonds only go halfway down the band, not a full band.

The cheapo alternative, of course, is a LoGR. The pave doesn''t have the same charm as the channel set square diamonds and the stone sits a lot higher, but, at this pricepoint, I think it looks nice.

Lady D,
Are you looking at white gold or platinum? However, with the price of gold over $1K per ounce, I find that the price is very close to platinum and it’s a better buy to go with platinum. French cuts may not be easy to find but ECs and princess cuts shouldn’t be an issue. Just a basic metal might be $1K and figuring the cost of the diamonds to be around 1 ct total, it might be $2K, so $3K is my guess. I’m not good at these things so I could be way off.

I love the first setting that you posted. Very very nice. And I like how low the stone would sit in it.

I bet that anything custom will be very expensive right now with gold at such a high. I''d say $1500 dollars at minimum.

Personally I''d search for a pre made/stock setting. The LOGR one looks nice but you might be able to find one you like better at James Allan or WF.

I would also guess that as well as I read on another post somewhere that WF has a minimum of $800 for custom then you''d have to add the stones and setting cost on top of that.

I agree with SH - here on finding a premade stock setting as well

When I did my custom setting with 10 princess cut stone in 14 yellow gold (.90 ctw) about a year ago, my custom setting was about $1500

I was budgeting $1k tops for this project, so it looks like it is out of the window (or filed away until gold falls...).

I am going to look around other sites for stock settings. Wish me luck!

have you contacted LOGR to see if he can make the ring in your first picture? I had him copy a designer ring for me and it came out under $700 and looks pretty good. I would see if he can do the same for you.

Goodluck!
