Hello to all,
I've been a "lurker" here for a while, and have admired many of your stones over the years. When it came time to start seriously looking for a diamond for my own happy purposes, this website again served as a great source of information and photo inspiration.
Initially, I was drawn to older cuts, as I liked the "romanticism" surrounding them: hand cut by a master craftsman, individual personality to each stone, and old-world charm being the chief reasons for this.
I somehow pegged modern cuts as "colder" and perhaps more "sterile" given the perfection laser cutting affords. I will say, I now see this as somewhat silly logic, as it takes a great deal of craftsmanship in order to properly cut a modern style diamond!
The turning point in my decision process was stumbling upon Crafted By Infinity diamond pictures on Pricescope. The photos provided here are of beautiful, perfectly cut diamonds that somehow give me the best of both worlds! Precision cut by a master craftsman with each stone having its own individual charm (albeit similar faceting pattern, as they are cut to such exacting standards). I went ahead and "took the plunge..."
Let me say that Wink and Melissa at CBI are, simply put, awesome. They were attentive, quick in response, always upon always pleasant, and really bent over backwards to make a pleasant buying experience. Also, when I first called CBI, Paul Slegers, CBI founder, picked up, which was pretty cool! He answered all of my many questions.
Now for the part you are all waiting to read...the diamond
I went with a 2.19 F/VS1. Guys, this diamond looks so much larger than the stated carat weight. Not only is it totally clean appearing and icy in color, it's bright from end to end across its diameter, which makes it look both lively and quite large! The sparkle is incredible, and dances in a variety of light settings. In the month that my fiance has had her ring, she has gotten at least 2-3 compliments a day at least. We were sitting at a restaurant the other night and a very nice woman approached my fiance to comment that she could see the ring gleaming from across the restaurant and felt jealous as how beautiful the stone was
We were so thrilled with the results that we ended up buying a set of diamond studs as well! These are about 1.3 carats each, H color, VS2 clarity. They face up way brighter than the stated color and are absolutely clean and beautiful. Melissa even set me up with martini settings for these, which are flawless. Again, compliment after compliment for my fiance. Melissa and Wink were once again impeccable with this transaction, even though it was substantially smaller than the first; I received the same first rate treatment.
All in all, we couldn't be happier with the stones and the service! Enjoy the pictures everyone!
Apologies for potato quality images via camera phone, will take better ones and update soon!
