Lol - yep Delster that''s my Hubbs. They have pictures of him all over my LYS as well. He''s getting famous in the knitting world. ;)

I really love the tank & shrug set you made. I keep meaning to knit a shrug & then I get distracted by other patterns....

What fun to have a new friend who likes both knitting & jewels! :)

That yarn store upstairs will be the ruination of you Monarch, I promise!

Wanna join in the fun and share one of your scarves or throws with us? I''ve never knit anything so big as a throw, largest I''ve done is a baby blanket. But I''d love to knit that one up as a full size throw, it was so beautiful!
1.gif
I will try to post pics tomorrow...daylight pics show up better here than ones I use the flash for! Warning: I have multiple unfinished projects and I better not hear about it from any of you, LOL!

I tried a baby blanket last February, but did it on two needles instead of a circular set and dropped a ton of stitches one night and never finished it, but it was sweet...the couple did not know the sex of the child so I did it in a very soft homespun (acrylic, sorry...it''s machine-washable but still soft!) yellow...I never did pick it back up and restart it or finish it, I''ve had similar experiences with many other projects, hee hee.

Yeah, the yarn store upstairs is impossible to avoid, our whole building full of businesses shares two restrooms and wouldn''t you know, they''re right in front of the yarn store so I am tempted several times a day to walk in there and browse! I have to literally hold myself back!

My mother is an entirely crafty person (skill-wise), she''s done it all from needlepoint/cross-stitch, knitting/crocheting, to quilting...Quilting is her forte and in the last 10 years she''s really excelled at it and even started teaching classes privately from her home, she makes beautiful things and I will try to post pics of some of the quilts she''s made for me/us over the years. She taught me how to knit so many years ago when i broke my ankle and had to stay with my parents for about 5 weeks when I was fresh out of college.

Delster-- i LOVE the scarf on the last minute knits book! I am definetly bookmarking that for Christmas. Today I went to The Yarn Company and picked up materials for my next project-- a wrap! I''ts one of their patterns, and they had one knitted up at the store. it''s super easy and so perfect looking, plus it''s nice and big, like a poncho. I started tonight and i''m so excited. Knitting is so addictive!!

The pattern is below. what do you all think? It''s called the "koigu wrap"

lizardofaz (I love your screen name BTW!) from what I remember of that pattern it''s actually just a simple rib all the way up, and then tassels on each end. Cast on as many stitches as you want it wide and rib!!! The secret to the texture is in using huuuge needles (like 12mm I think?!? but I''m a tiiiiight knitter) and three different yarns - a double knitting; an angora blend; and something outrageous (crazy fur / ribboned yarn / glitter!).
Will you post a piccy if you knit it?
27.gif

The ''so-called scarf'' might also be lovely if it''s variegated yarn you have - it''d show up all those colours really yummily
1.gif
I''ve never seen any of the Manos yarns, nowhere in Ireland stocks them, so I''m rather jealous!
30.gif
Hi Delster! Where in Ireland are you? I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ireland! I would love nothing more than to live in a little cottage on the seacoast (of course!) where''d I''d sit and knit all day. Or maybe a place on the Aran Isles where I''d raise sheep and, of course, sit and knit all day. Sorry you can''t find Manos there. It really is such beautiful yarn. (Guess there''s always ebay!) I''m going digging in my stash as I KNOW there''s some variegated in there somewhere - will post a pic when I finish my ''so-called scarf'' (warning: slow knitter alert!)

elsie a clapotis is perhaps your next project?!?
2.gif
It''s kind of like this phenomenon that''s swept the knitting world. Every knitter I know has either done one or wants to do one! Anyway the pattern is here and the designer describes it much better than I would! It''s kind of a scarf/wrap thing. There''s also a knitalong here . Are you on Ravelry? Sooooo many beautiful clapotis to admire on there...
3.gif

Do you have a link to the pattern you''re using for the cardigan? It''d be lovely to see what you''re working on...
1.gif

I like the chicken!!!
9.gif

Hey Delster! Thanks for the clapotis links -- maybe that''ll be my next project! They seem so comfy and more versatile than scarves... And it is getting cold around here!

And I didn''t know about Ravelry, either. I put myself on the waiting list so maybe I''ll soon have another forum to obsessively check. Yay!
3.gif

I did manage to find a link to the cardigan. Here it is: cardigan. I''m doing the boring part (back) now, but hopefully it won''t be too hard once I get to the cables part. I''m dreading finishing, though. Dunno why I always hate that part. I''ll be sure to post pics when (if?) I finish!

Hi, back with pics as promised! I have about 5-6, bear with me as I cannot for the life of me ever figure out how to put more than one pic in a post! Here''s one of the xxl zip loc baggie all of my "projects" are in:

knittingbag1.JPG

Here''s a pic of two scarves I was working on last fall, the sparkly/fuzzy one was meant to be a gift to my MIL but I needed one more skein of yarn to make it long enough and didn''t end up finishing it. I realized tonight when I took it out that it would probably stretch and the length is ok as is, so I will likely finish it in time for her b-day this month!

scarves001.JPG

A bunch of other random scarves/throws...some of the scarves are finished but need the ends woven in, some need a little more length, they are positioned on top of the first throw I ever made, it''s full of holes and the top of it is so uneven on one side because I couldn''t keep track of all the stitches at first and kept adding accidentally, lol!

scarves002.JPG

The blue-ish one was my favorite yarn ever last year, it had some sparkle in it and I made a brownish one just like it...

scarves003.JPG

And this is my little bag I carry around my scarf projects in! It''s the perfect size...it''s about the size of the smallest handled shopping bag from a department store. I used to carry my lunches in it but it was destined for knitting for sure! Thanks for looking at my humble collection of knitting insanity!

scarves004.JPG

Love the koigu warp! Love anything koigu for that matter - it''s to die for!

Anchor - looking forward to seeing your pics! Is an afghan the same thing as a poncho?

LadyAmythyst I love knitting shrugs! So quick and I find them really flattering. I''ve a very long torso and they help break me up a bit!

Monarch thank you so much for sharing your stash and your projects!!! It all looks so beautiful!
30.gif

prbaglady that wrap is GORGEOUS! Look how those colours blend! And that texture! Did I mention I''m a sucker for knits with texture?!?
2.gif
Now I must go and research this Koigu yarn you''re all raving about, I hadn''t heard of it before... hmmmm, a new yarn to obsess over!
31.gif

lizardofaz sometimes I don''t know myself where I am in Ireland! Work (well, college) is in Dublin; home is near Tara; and my heart is in Limerick. Confused yet?
2.gif
Unfortunately the only good yarn shops are in Dublin and Cork, and the Dublin ones are a bit out of the way. I''m saved by the fact that a friend runs one of the Dublin shops and regularly sends me ''care packages''!!!
9.gif
I plan on making some of those ''so-called scarves'' myself, maybe we can both post some pics in the new year?
1.gif

elsie that cardigan looks lovely! Really cosy! Do the cables not go up the back as well (cos you mentioned it was boring so I assumed it was stocking stitch)? When you get your invite to Ravelry you''ll have to come and look LadyAmythyst and I up!
2.gif

Ooo! Me too! Me too!

I''m working on a cardigan with intarsia work on it right now and also have a shawl going in a hand painted lace weight silk/wool blend on size 4 needles. It''s almost done!

Pandora, what pattern are you doing your shetland lace in? I''ve always thought it would be lovely to have a shetland lace bridal shawl when I get married, but I''ve realized I should probably start sooner rather than later if I want to get married in 2010!

Anchor - looking forward to seeing your pics! Is an afghan the same thing as a poncho?
I can''t seem to be able to post my pics, I''ll have to ask Andrey for help. An afghan isn''t a poncho, I''m not sure how to describe it other than a knitted blankets with a repeated pattern. Maybe it''s called something else is the US? The afghan blanket

Trying again... This is what I hope to have finish for the wedding, to display as a bridal portrait at the reception. It'll have our names and date on it.

It's a counted cross-stitch, which I usually avoid because it's quite harder than the stamped ones, however this one hasn't caused me a lot of trouble. It's so beautiful and fun to work on, as soon as I saw it in the Mary Maxim catalog (a wonderful Canadian crafts store), I fell in love and my mother bought it for me as an engagement present. Unfortunately I haven't worked on it since late August because of school...
7.gif

ETA: Aha! It worked!

anchorbridalportrait.jpg

Here it is on its stitching frame; I want to brag about the other crafty people in my life... My father made this frame for me, I bought the other one I own.

portraitandframe.jpg

Here's the Christmas stocking I'm stitching for my brother. I have also done my sister's; my mother did my father's and mine and is working on hers and my brother's spouse's.

ETA: It's almost finished, there's just some back-stitch detailing left, and the name at the top.

Here''s my afghan blanket from my grandmother, complete with the "Made with love by Grandma" signature squared sewed on the bottom. The pattern is call "bear paws", but it looks very much like seashells. Grandma made one of those (with different colours and patterns) for her two children and five grandchildren. I adore her (doesn''t show at all, doesn''t it?

Anchor, your cross stitching is lovely! I made a deal with a girl I work with that I''ll teach her to knit if she''ll teach me to cross stitch--so fun!

Have any of you girls tried bobbin or needle lace? I''ve been wanting to try it for a while, and I finally found a place where they''ll teach you how to do it! I''m so excited to try it out.

Anchor you are so talented!!! My jaw hit the floor when I saw your work! Oh wow! You must have endless patience and incredible skill. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
36.gif

Ladypirate bobbin/needle lace is very traditional over here and verrrry expensive. You''ll have to show us what you learn! One of my Aunties can do lace - she sews priests'' vestments! She also does the Mother Theresa''s vests, have any of you guys heard of those? They''re such a sweet thing to do.

I''m currently stranded in BF''s house with no knitting. It''s all at home in my parents'' place. Aaargh! I feel naked!!!

Delster, you give me much more credit than I deserve...
emembarrassed.gif
The stitching kits I own always come with incredibly easy patterns to follow, so it''s not that difficult. But it has been a great tool to help me develop my patience!
28.gif
I''m glad you like my work.

A couple more finished objects this weekend! First up, an Odessa hat...

You are so crafty! I love the hat and the teddy bear onesie. I especially love that you include the link to the patterns! Thanks delster!

Oh Skippy skip skip!!!

Did you finish your gorgeous denim tote? We''d love to see it if you did!

Aw, Delster; thanks for thinking of me. I did finish the tote and I also made a window treatment. I will post a pic of the window treatment because I forgot to take a pic of the tote. I love the doll; she is gorgeous w/her outfit!!! Also, Anchor those bird houses are adorable!!

I love all the knit items; people are so talented!!!!! I love everything; now I want to learn how to knit

Oh good grief, you ladies are so talented. Love your work!!! I can hardly get a piece of thread through a needle to patch something up!!!

Your work is amazing and beautiful!!!

Linda

Thanks for bumping this, and for letting me know about it! I''m currently working on a cardigan sweater. I actually started the back ages ago (over a year, I think) and it languished at the armhole-shaping stage until I picked it up again a month ago. Now I''m on the left front, so I''ve still got a good bit of work left on it, but I''m pleased so far. The color is warmer than in this picture -- more purple, less blue.

Picture of the pieces so far:

And a close-up of the detail. The color is a little more true in this photo:

Wow, Octavia, that is going to be a gorgeous sweater!!!

Monnie, I love your bag of yarns!

I love all the scarves!
