Old spinster schoolmarm speaking. Lately many posts have mentioned a gem's "cutlet." A jewel is not edible, yummy as it can be. 8) They have culets, but no cutlets -- you gotta go to the butcher for those. Cu-let, only one T. Someone buying gems & saying "cutlet" looks like a rookie to a seller & may not be given the best stone or best possible price.

Ten-four & out.

:) Thanks for bringing that up, keeping our terminology correct is important. And it's been bugging me, too - makes me think of veal ;)

I stand by my Cutlet :lickout:

As always, Laurie, we are on the same page - so happy you said something so I didn't have to!

So I've had it wrong all the time... :errrr: Now I know it's "Q-lit". 8)

 Sorry

The pronunciation always throws me for a loop. "Q-lit" or "coo-lit" seem to be the accepted pronunciation, but it is a french word and so I always want to say "coo-lay". Pronouncing that final "t" bothers me! But I don't want to look like a n00b at the B&M store...

Hahaha, that one always makes me chuckle. I think it's cute(let) when people make that error. :cheeky: But good point where that error could influence the diamond deal!

Haha! Ive called it that a few times but I try reinforce my gem vocabulary while writing posts. I appreciate the reminder .
