Custom designed family heirloom ring

Just got this back today. These are 4 generations of diamonds put into this ring!
My question though...
There are no holes in the band under where the diamonds are. Is there a reason why? Is this Abad thing??

Yes, it's a bad thing that there aren't holes under the diamonds. You will not be able to clean them properly. That's unfortunate.

It's not uncommon for diamonds to be set that way in a band like that.
