Wanna get an idea from PSers who have brought from Adamant, what's the cut quality of stones from them? And if you know how they get their stones cut, by themselves or other cutting houses in Sri Lanka?

I guess there may be difference on cut between rarer stones like vivid coloured sapphires / spinels and less expensive gem species, but I am looking for chrysoberyl & want a precision brilliant cut style, and do want an idea on that.

Their "thing" is to take smaller gems and recut them so that they are precision cut. I'd inquire about the cut about the stone you are interested in... they are good about giving you the positives and negatives of each stone.

I was going to say the same. At this point, @Double E, your questions might be more easily answered by the vendor. Also, I'm sure you yourself will know when viewing a stone whether it is well enough cut to pass your standard of precision. From the stones I've received, the cutting rough industry in Sri Lanka has many excellent cutters (as well as a good many more roughly - or primitively - cut stones), so its quite possible to get a good one.

Thanks both~ yea Admit that I kind of want some sort of assurance for peace of mind, and definitely will reach out to Adamant considering their easily seen accessibility to nice chrysoberyl constantly:)

Yes, ask Ivan -- he will tell you anything and everything about each item.

My impression is that everything (except maybe the rare very big sapphire) is extremely well cut. There are before-and-after photos in some of his listings that show his niche. Tbh, the "befores" aren't bad and he sacrifices some real weight to get the desired effect.

I have no relationship with this vendor but I think he does a nice job.

Thanks a lot, definitely recall some of the before / after photos on his site and agree what you say~ It looks promising and worth a try, I'll send them an email~

Just remember, it is the quality of the material that really counts. A great cut is frosting on the cake indeed, but average material precision cut is still average material.

With that said, I’m not familiar with this vendor, but don’t get star struck over an average stone with an above average cut. Just speaking in general, not to this vendors stones.

Thanks, I have been researching for some time for top chartreuse chrysoberyl. Understood it’s not that rare, but not by any means having it as alternative to anything like vanadium chrysoberyl or yellow sapphire etc. So simply trying to get the best cut possible considering it’s accessibility.

This vendor is one I found with most vivid chrysoberyls, which is mainly discussed in another thread of mine with many stone pictures from them. Part of their sold stones:

So wish me some luck of getting something good^^

A good Chartreuse is a rare stone. It is not as rare as a Vanadium or Alex, but it is rare. These are ok. More yellow, which is more common. But there is a few nice ones - 1.22 ct & 2.85 ct.

Good luck to you. :)

I bought this chryso from him a few years back. Very happy with it and his description of an impossible-to-describe and shifting color. It may still be in the "sold" section but a lot of the photos don't get carried over.

I bought a blue sapphire from Ivan. His customer service is second to none. Really superb. The cut of my sapphire is gorgeous.

I remember seeing this stone and thinking it was so unusual! I bet the pictures here don't capture how pretty it is. I remember it being quite large, too!

It definitely was unusual and not a "top" color but was interesting for sure (well, to me). It made a nice ring. (Not on the right finger here, of course -- I think this photo is from where the ring was made locally.) Way more affordable than a big sapphire.

It is more of a metallic-looking orange-y brown that I can not capture. Set in green gold here. Not sure if this will make sense but it is the color of really good honey -- but not "honey-colored" in the conventional sense of that expression.

Wow, what a beautiful stone and piece of jewelry! Just gorgeous!

Little update for anyone interested, Reached out to Adamant, Ivan is nice to speak with~ Things in Sri Lanka gem market and industry is operating slowly ATM, May be a long hunt with Ivan. Never mind, as I am not terribly in a hurry:)

God I wish this colour looked good on my skin tone coz they are just electric! o_O

That's an eye catching colour, really~ And more appealing to me than many other sapphire and spinel varieties, which are similarly hard and durable. I am starting to think what gold colour to compliment it, despite the search is just begun.
