Cutting Diamonds- How does it work?

I did a quick search on the internet and couldn''t find much. Does anybody have a good link to pictures of people cutting diamonds? I would love to see an indepth description with pictures that describes how diamond cutters achieve a well cut diamond. How does one become a diamond cutter? How long does it take before a cutter can produce top quality stones?
