I hope I''m posting this in the right forum. I didn''t know if it should go in rocky talk since it''s about CZ''s. Anyway...my friend has a ring in 14K gold set in semi-precious stones and cz''s. She asked me to look at it through my loupe to check the prongs and so on. While I was looking, I noticed that the cz''s appeared to have inclusions. Not all of them, but a few of them had little tiny dark spots that look just like what people refer to as carbon spots in diamonds. I asked her, just to make sure, if they were actually diamonds. She said she was pretty sure they were cz, because the ring hadn''t been terribly expensive.

I have some costume jewelry that has cz''s, and a couple of Diamonique rings from QVC. I''ve looked at mine many times through a loupe, and I''ve never seen anything that looked like inclusions in mine. Just to compare, I looked at some jewelry that I owned with real diamonds similar in size to the stones in my friend''s ring. They looked exactly the same!

My friend seemed pretty positive that her stones were not diamonds. My question is...can cz''s have inclusions just like diamonds? Or does she actually have diamonds in her ring, and only thinks they are cz''s? I''ve googled and I can''t find any information regarding cz''s and inclusions, does anyone else know? It''s one of those issues that''s bugging the heck out of me!

Dear Friend,
I have not heard about the inclusion inside CZ before as because they are so cheap. However,CZ''s quality is mostly concerned on the cutting rather than clarity.
I think you should get the stone inspected by qualified jeweller. I doubt the stone is diamond because low quality diamond is sometimes cheaper than high quality CZ.
