David Klass purple spinel ring, sapphire pendant and bands

David posted a video of these on his IG account but he said it was a purple sapphire but he got it mixed up with my pendant. Purple spinel ring, bands and my pendant. The pendant I think he posted a few weeks ago. I’ll post my moms anniversary band too after I get her pics uploaded. Thought they should be posted in color gems given my spinel and sapphire.

I had posted last summer about my rings being stolen (e-ring, 2 bands, and family ring) and a whole fiasco of going through my insurance. In the end – we couldn’t get on board with the CAD drawings they sent of my “like quality” recreated ring they would make and the diamonds they sent with GIA were not matching up to what I had. Hubby asked if maybe I would want to go custom ring route but with a gemstone instead (I’m a big sapphire person) and down the road he said he would replace my diamond. I was so tired of the situation and honestly just wanted a clean break and start over. It ended up being the best-case scenario and I am SO happy we went this route. Long story ahead, sorry!

I contacted David Klass about possibly creating a ring for me and my replacement band. I ran the sapphire idea by him and asked for recommendations of people to get my sapphire with. That led me to Jeff White and a few others to reach out to but right away I knew Jeff was who we wanted. He answered all our questions, was patient and so easy to work with, plus he is an amazing cutter. I had him looking through rough for a blue green sapphire. I have a few pieces of the traditional blue sapphire jewelry already, including a ring so wanted something different. That was more difficult than I thought because it’s hard staring at rocks and videos and hoping they end up cutting pretty but I trusted him and went with my gut on the stone I liked.

During that process I got caught in the gemstone world and looking at all the pretty things here on PS and Instagram and Spinels caught my eye, as did a particular spinel pendant. I kind of hinted to my hubby about this particular necklace. Jeff found me a piece of rough and I thought I was done with my gemstone needs but my hubby told me to ask him if he had any spinels too. He said he would treat me for all the crap we had been going through with replacing my rings and it was our 15 yr anniversary this summer. Jeff cut me a beautiful purple spinel. I had him send the stones first to me so I could see them before sending to David. After seeing them everything changed – I decided to set the sapphire in the pendant and the spinel in the ring. I took a few pictures of rings I liked and had David take details from those for the ring. We only had to do one CAD revision and the molds he sent were perfect. I replaced my previous 2 stolen bands with just one ½ eternity diamond band.

Lastly, my mom totally surprised me this year by saying she wanted to get me something special. She had mentioned also having David do her anniversary band so I gave her the contact info. We ended up having David make her anniversary band and me a floral engraved band as my Christmas gift from her. My mom was diagnosed last year with a rare cancer, is stage 4 metastatic and honestly, I just want something to remember her by – hopefully not that it’s going to happen soon!!! I don’t know what she had him engrave it with and I can’t wait to see it!! The flowers thing is something I’ve appreciated since I was little because of her so they mean a lot to me – specifically wild flowers.

Anyhow – if you read that huge long story, wow I’m sorry! So excited to see them in person!!
