Hello Everyone,

I'm currently choosing custom jewelers to cast an engagement ring. I am currently in talks with David Klass. He came recommended on PS, but not as regularly in the past as Daniel M and some others.

Has anyone gotten full rings with stone settings from David? How did you like the results/experience?

Thanks.

Ah, perfect - how do I delete a forum post? :)

I would recommend David Klass. Check out some of his latest work on his fb page. Daniel M has been having some serious issues we are waiting to see how he resolves them.

I've seen his work on other sites, and it's gorgeous.

His work is very nice, but his CADS are not the best to visualize your setting. He also has excellent customer service- always wanting the customer to be happy.

Yeah, looking at the facebook posts, this CAD quality seems to be our my biggest concern. You get a sense of the general physical structures of the ring, but it makes it sort of frightening to rely on such a basic illustration.

Having said that, all I've read is that he is very assiduous about alterations and making customers happy, so perhaps it won't be a problem in the end.

I've worked with David twice so far, and my H recently completed some sort of super secret project that I am not allowed to know about yet... 8) My H is over the moon happy with his project. My experience with David was great- fair prices, good communication, patience with my many, many questions about all the details, and an absolute commitment on his part to get it just right for me that goes well above and beyond most jewellers. His policies are incredibly easy going and generous to the customer. I have posted both of my rings in the show us your David Klass bling thread linked to earlier, and I am thrilled with the quality of craftsmanship. I will definitely be working with David again in future.

The CADs are not super detailed, but I found the proportions on them to be true, and I had no problem visualizing.

I didn't mean to imply that I wouldn't recommend him, because I would. My ring from him was lovely. I just wanted the OP to be aware that his CADs are ..how shall I put this...minimalist? Since I have little experience with CADs I have a hard time visualizing the end product- I'm sure others may be just fine with them. I also think it depends on how picky you are with details and how intricate the setting is. But as I said he has wonderful customer service and if something is not to your liking he will remake it in a heart beat!!

I'm a HUGE DK fan! I highly recommend him. He made the ring in my avatar AFTER he'd set my stone in a pendant. I hated the pendant, so we started from scratch. I never had to pay for the pendant that we scrapped -- only for the ring he made me. now THAT"s customer service. In the end, he just wanted me to have something beautiful that I loved and was happy with. I have other rings, but I rarely take the ones he's made me off.

I didn't mean for that to sound like it was directed at you or critical of what you posted in any way Pinkjewel! Sorry if it did. Ack, the interwebs are hard for context! Sorry. The CADs are indeed minimalist. :) I didn't mind it, others might. I was picky with details, and pestered him with many, many emails. There is a certain amount of trust involved when you don't see a detailed rendering, and that's where all of these reviews, both good and not so good, are so helpful in choosing a jeweller.

I actually didn't mind the CADs at all, but found the final photos with all the flash glare difficult. Hard to see all the details, and they don't do the pieces justice by a long shot. I would love to see him get a different photography set up.

They have finally hired a photo guy! His recent photos of finished work have been non-flash and good! So excited about this.

Oh, no- we're good. :wavey: I wasn't taking offense at what you posted. I thought maybe I just needed to clarify that despite what I said about his CADs that I love his work and would highly recommend him!! We're all on the same page. =)
