Decision Day!...star ruby

Well....I''m heading off for San Francisco later this morning to finalize plans for mounting my star ruby....so excited!

Below are badly doctored pics of the mounting I''m 99% sure I''m going to get.

I was SURE I wanted it in yellow gold because the stone looks so great in it. Now I''m waffling

thinking I should stick with platinum because almost all my other jewelry is in white metal.

Any thoughts opinions? Can anyone think of any questions I should ask or alterations I should make? Now''s the time!!

If you think you get more wear out of it in platinum, you should choose it. The stone looks great in yellow gold though! Yet, I would hate to see it spend too much time in a jewelry box...

Widget that is going to be just beautiful! I like the stone in yellow gold, but make sure you are okay with mixing your metals (I do it all the time) and that you will wear it. It is nice in platinum too.

That is a beautiful ring. I would personally get platinum, but there is something nice about the way rubies look with platinum! Cant wait to see the finished product!

It is SOOOOOOO amazing in either metal!!! While I love rubies in platinum, that yellow gold version may just bring about a whole new jewelry wardrobe

Regardless of what you decide, I think the design is exquisite and will truly showcase that amazing star....I can''t wait to see the final results (hope you''ll post about your color decision when you get home!)

Actually the saga of deciding on a mounting for my stone is in the Jewelry Forum, thread entitled: ''Designing a ring...ideas/input welcome''....or something like that. My last post there tells about my visit Wednesday to Van Craeynest.

I''m really excited about this, and you can bet it will hit the SMTR forum as soon as I get it in my hot little hands!
