Okay. So... we are defintely going to be a two veil bride. But I need your help to avoid another mistake.

I'm NIXING the rippled edge.

What do you think about the length.

I think it's too poofy and that I want something drapier... should I go for silk tulle ($$$). It won't be as sheer, but would have a lovely drape to it.

I could fix poof by adjusting the width of the bridal illusion too though. It's 50 something at come 70 something at bottom. So I'm thinking less at comb, less at bottom.

Here are the pics.

Oh... Obridal.com is a GREAT vendor, their communication has been fabulous. So I'm definitely re-ordering through them.

BTW... rippled edge veil is going to come free with the Rivini now. LOL. Whenever I get around to posting it for sale on preowned

It's not returnable as it's custom.

Excuse the pyjamas. I was lounging when I remembered to post about the veil. Matching was not a priority.

Here's my dress for reference:

Veil is still wrinkled from box. So it's not looking even, but it is.

Yeah I think I'll agree. I'm not digging the poofiness or the rippled edge. How are you feeling about the length?

ETA: What's going on with the Rivini?

Ambivelent.

Rivini... nothing. Hanging in my grandparent's closet. I REALLY have to post it on the website to sell it...but just haven't.

Hmm I like the length, yeah wrong veil. No rippled edge, nope. What do you think? I mean I really think a cathedral length veil would look beautiful with your dress, too. Tulle would be gorgeous.

ETA: Are you opposed to lace?

How are you thinking of wearing it? Just cascading down your back or over your shoulders like in the pics? I think you''re going to have to go either super simple or add some detail because of the detail in the dress. Aren''t you having the dress customized a bit though?

Definitely no ripples and less poofyness, but I think that is a nice length!

hmm yeah the rippled edge is a little off. a little too rippled i think. what about a plain cut-edge veil? I love the plain edge veils, and it wouldn''t take anything away from your dress at all.

have you thought about how you want to wear your veil? do you want to wear it on top of your head like in the picture? cuz i think the veil-coming-from-under-a-bun look would be great with your dress!!

Dress IS going to be customized. The neckline. There should be left over lace appliques so I want to add them at intervals at the edge of the veil I buy. I will either have the seamstress do it, or do it myself by hand. I'm just getting a plain pencil edge veil or a simple cut edge.

I can't do catherdral cause I'd have to bustle it walking down the aisle with grandpa on the scooter or risk it getting caught under his tire and ripping off my head. I already have to bustle the gown down the aisle. Don't want to have to unbustle both for the 15 minute ceremony. And I'm not wearing my veil at the reception.

I think I'd just wear it down my back. But if it blows forward I'm fine with it.

Hair... I'm wearing half up, half down... don't know where it would attach. It wouldn't be that high up on the head though.

I think the length is ok. And Silk tulle sounds like a good substitution. How much will a veil like that run?

Who took the pics and what did they think?

John took the pics. I didn't ask his opinion...lol. He doesn't know what the dress looks like.

The silk tulle, same length 47" long would be about 165. This one was 60. Without the rippled edge, and with the re-order discount they offered me another bridal illusion one would be about 40. So it's a BIG difference between silk and no silk 125 bucks to be exact.

Yeah definitely no cathedral length. I think that length is great. With the discount it isn''t too too bad I think. Personally, I''d go for the tulle and add the lace later like you said. It''ll be beautiful!

I''m not loving the length. Without seeing you in the dress AND veil together I''m not 100% sure, but I''m a little worried it will hit in the wrong place? Maybe just above your hand would be a more flattering length instead of just below?

If you are fairly certain that you will add lace to the veil, I might also skip the pencil edge on the reorder. I do like pencil edge (its what I would have gotten if I had veiled) but it doesn''t really play off your dress. I want lace and sheer to with your dress. Refresh my memory, what are the planned alterations?

The length of the veil works well with your gown, but the rippled edge doesn''t go with the slim silhouette of your dress.

I''m not sure. I was originally thinking strapless. But now I''m thinking to just widen the V neck so it''s not halter it''s straps. I''ll see if I can find a pic, I thought I had one.

Here''s kind of the idea.

Alternate idea is something like this.

I like the V neck better than the halter. It seems more clean? Simple? Than the original. You know? Don''t get me wrong, I love the original dress, but I''m really awesome with the v-neck.

I agree with cara on the length-I''m not 100% sure of it either. Maybe just a tiny bit shorter would be better. I definitely agree with the no ripples and the poofiness-Nix it!

Hi Gypsy! I agree with the others...no ripples and less pouffiness. I also think a veil with a bit of lace in the end would look lovely!!!

I love your dress

Okay. So I think I''m going to do 42 inch ... fingertip length. Sillk Tulle for drape.

What edge do you think? Plain or pencil?

What does everyone mean by less poofiness? I like the length. I think a plain cut edge would be perfect. Or you could do a plain pencil edge.

And the first v-neck you posted is GORGEOUS.

Ann Barge is the designer of that. Her Fleur collection (less expensive).

I forgot to mention I would be replacing the rhinestone ribbon at waist with a plain ribbon. All Ivory.

Another vote for nixing the rippled edge. I also like the v-neck you posted far more that the halter. As for the veil, since your dress isn''t covered in lace, perhaps you could do a one layer veil in a more sheet cut with a thin border of lace and then add in a few appliques near the bottom? That''s if you like the look of lace on your veil.

Oh Gyps, you have to do the Anne Barge v-neck. It would look so good on you. I tried on that Anne Barge, and my BM didn''t like it on me. I thought it was soooooo pretty. But I''m totally flat-chested so it just didn''t look as amazing as it could have on another girl.

That''s my vote!

If it''s possible to alter it that way. I will. It''s my intention. I''m happy to know that you like the look.

I do like the thought of lace on the veil. But appliques, not edging. And if at all possible I''d like the appliques to be from my dress, as it would be the best match and also be the most cost effective. I know I''ll have the entire back of neck halter portion to work from in terms of appliques, so I think it''s possible.

Still torn on pencil edge versus cut edge. But leaning toward pencil edge.

So I''ve been thinking about not having a veil in general when I get married...I think I''ll stick with that and just have a tiara instead!

This stuff sounds too complicated!

What''s the difference between pencil edge and cut edge?

Pencil. For sure.

Yes, I think a bit of lace would compliment the dress so nicely!!!. My veil had appliques and even though it was not from my same dress, it matched perfectly!....so you never know ;)

I agree. I would totally do appliques pre-sewn onto the veil IF I could see the lace from the appliques in advance. But, considering we''ll have left over appliques from my gown, I''ll just add them after. I agree that the veil needs them.
