Here's my new demantoid garnet from Gemline, it's 1.24ct and around 6.3mm in diameter. As usual Michael is great to deal with and even included an AGL origin report with the stone. This will hopefully be my last green stone purchase for the year.
I plan on setting it as a three stone ring with rose cut pear diamonds sides (when I get around to setting it), other suggestions will be great.

Lovely collection! I love the new addition!

What a wonderful collection!

It looks to have a very nice green color for demantoid. It's a nice size too!! Be careful if you set it, demantoid is one of the softer garnets, around a 6.5 on the hardness scale. Is it Russian, does the AGL have an origin?

This is gorgeous!!

Oh pretty!!!

Thank you MTG, Marcy, TL and CharmyPoo and Hest88. I am partial to green coloured stones. :))

TL there's a provenance section on the AGL report, it's Russia (Ural Mountains). Thank you for the tip about the softness of the garnet, I managed to chip a spinel so I really should be more careful. I'm still not sure who I can trust to set it, anyway low on setting funds (as always), I'll just enjoy looking at them in their gem boxes for now.

Congrats on your nice addition to a beautiful collection! Any plan for setting?

You really got me to look into demantoid - I don't have a single one and just don't have any budget left. So I will just drool over your collection.

Gorgeous colour and I love the softness of colour due to the horsetail inclusions. I've always wanted one around the same size and colour that you have!

Woweee! Love your demantoids! I can't wait to see how you set them! IMO, JKT did a fab job setting my 3.5mm baby demantoids.

Lovely! I love the collection shot.

Thank you yingh, because the colours of the smaller ones is better than my largest I won't be setting them together.
For the 6mm a simple 3 stone settting with rose cut pear diamonds sides.
For the rest a graduated 5 stone ring, that means I will have one left over.

Thank you Chrono, Brandy and IndyLady. =)

Beautiful stone. Congratulations!
Does the memo specify whether it is heated or unheated?

It's pretty garnet =) congrats! I looveee the grass green:)

Thank you Crasru and chictomato!
Crasru here's the report. It says no gemmological evidence of heat but see the comments section too.

Unfortunately, the comment text is too small for me to read. What does it say?

"The colour of demantoid may be modified through a relatively low temperature heating process. N/A represents Not Applicable."
Do you think it means they can't detect low temperature heating?

The other comment, "It is the opinion of the laboratory, based on the weight of evidence that the origin of this material would be classified as Russia (Ural Mountains).

I must have read somewhere that there may be a certain natural heating (or even irradiation) that some garnets may go through before they are unearthed. I have to find this thread...actually, I came across it in several places. Natural irradiation of Russian gems would not surprise me...there are many uranium mines all over the country + it offers "service" of burying nuclear wastes of other countries. Just give me some time to find the link, a couple of days because I marked it but then my computer crashed.

It's a lovely colour and the green line-up in that pic is impressive, congratulations on your new stone. There's multi attachment feature now?

Great colour.

Thank you klewis and oddoneout. Klewis you can now attach several photos in one post.

Thanks in advance Crasru!

This is just one that I saw. I am digging out some other articles. At the bottom of Pala's page, they talk about natural heating process.
Thank you crasru, an interesting article.

I love this stone, I can see the glow in the photo, NICE!

I finally got to see a demantoid garnet in person this past weekend at a local gem show, wow! I couldn't believe the dispersion....and now have a bad case of the "wants"...and need to save up to get one now.
