Demantoid horsetail inclusion

I was playing with my microscope again, and I thought you folks might enjoy peering into the stones in my c. 1900 demantoid ring. One of the stones has an incredible horsetail; the other is clearer, with little specks.

When it's a full 360 degrees like that, that's a synthetic horsetail. Very common in the early 20th century.

@LilAlex please stop spreading misinformation without substantial evidence. If they did make horsetail inclusions in synthetic garnet, they would continue making it, instead of creating super-clean YAG material.

Gorgeous ring, thanks for sharing it. I never thought we'd have to watch out for disinformation from PS members taking about gemstones.
