demantoids need a setting

I have a .5 round green traffic light colored demantoid. Small but perfect-at least to me. I want to put this "6.5 hardness stone" in a protective gold ring. It will not be worn everday just on occassion. I am afraid my lack of photography skills limits me from posting a photo of the stone-no one likes blurry shots.

Most full bezels I do not find attractive so I was wondering it someone had a different suggestion.

Well this is a jewerly question. I already have the stone. Therfore it has NOTHING to do with colored stones!

Well if I was looking for a colored stone or feedback on a colored stone I would post there.

However, I honestly think it is more appropriate here as I wrote.

Furthermore, be careful in reading too much into message board posts. No one can hear or presume tone or attitude so stop attempting-and failing. My posts where as innocent as yours and neither of you helped. But thats ok.

I think more people read the color stone forum regularly than read the jewelry forum, and you''ll get more responses there. A lot of the people who hang out there are familiar with the issues of setting delicate color stones. And finally, your post in response to SDL did come off as abrupt and condescending in my opinion, as well. And I DO try not to read into things. Your caps, color highlighting, and frowny face all contribute to the impression. It may not be what you meant to convey, but it is indeed what you did convey. I understand WHY her suggestion did not make sense to you, but instead of asking why she suggested it, you got snippy. Or appeared to. ANYWAY. That''s why she suggested it.

Is that link for a bezel style that you might consider? You don't say in your post. I can think of a few styles that are semi-bezel or half-bezel, but need to dig up pics.

Geez. Most people who have colored stones ask about settings for their colored stones do so in the colored stone thread.. whip me for trying to help.

Not to mention that Colored Stones gets twice as much traffic as Jewelry Pieces. As Selkie alluded to.

And perhaps you should reread your posts before posting them, because you came off quite harsh.

Not a ring but a necklace, but I had a demantoid set in a semibezel setting, and was very pleased. I think it''s a good compromise between safety and letting light play with the stone.
