Jeff is the only one I''ve kind of *cut off*. I just thanked him for his time. I''m intimidated by him. I''ll be honest.

I have emailed 6 cutters. Dan is looking for rough, John is cutting a round from the rough I posted on the other page, I haven''t heard back from Barry (used the email on Barbara''s page), haven''t heard back from the cutter who shall not be named, and I''m waiting to hear back from MonkeyPie''s suggestion...

That''s 6 cutters. Jeff, John, Barry, Dan, PT and unnamed.

Think I should wait at least until I hear back from Dan to see if he got any good rough?

So apparently I had forgotten about multicolor...I like the colors of these:
Probably my favorite, but worried about the darkness and if it could be recut into anything...
Hiya Freke!

I love the color of this one. And I love the pear shape!
Hey coati!! I love the color of that one too! Although I'm pretty sure I'd get it recut-and probably into a round or an oval. I'm just not a pear girl.

This is hard. WHY CAN'T IT BE EASY?!?! Or, at least, not this hard....

oooo--recut, that stone could be amazing! I like that it's a bit violetish. (I'm a round and oval girl myself--I like pears in theory...)

I'm sorry it's so hard. You'll find your stone! I cannot wait to see what you get!

Freke,

I''m sorry Jeff couldn''t help you. I really thought he would find you the perfect spinel. Poo.

Linda

Coati! We''ll see what happens. I also like the violet color of that pear--and of the *cobalt* spinel from Gemselect. I wish someone could find some rough like that for me.

I can''t wait to see what I get too! I think what will end up happening is that BF will let me pick it out, and I''ll get to see pictures of it, but then I think he''s going to get it, and I won''t get to see it until it''s set and on my finger.

Linda If I don''t love John''s round, if Dan doesn''t find some good rough, and I don''t hear back from anyone else...Jeff and a recut or asking him to find me some rough might be in order. We shall see...but he''s not been knocked out of it yet...

Last night BF and I were in bed, and I kept poking him in the ribs because I wasn''t tired, and he told me I''d better watch out before I get downgraded to a RingPop...I kept poking him...and then got downgraded to a Cheerio. That was funny...FOR HIM. But then I let him go to sleep, and I woke up to the mention that I had been upgraded to a real sparkly again. I kept thinking..."A Cheerio is too small! It would have to be a Cheerio eternity ring!" I think I was delirious.

Ahahaha I want a Cheerio ring! Birds and small children would follow you everywhere.

And I hope it works out soon, I know how much it sucks to have to wait. Don''t be intimidated by Jeff though - he''s just a squishy ball.

So, have you changed your mind at all over colours you''re looking into?

I just checked out multicolour, but didn''t seem to find anything you hadn''t yet.

Just blues....I like blues. That''s really all I care about... if they are slightly purplish or grayish or greenish, whatever! Darkish, medium or light...

I just didn''t think it would be that hard to find...

I think it''s because you''re really open to any blue, but it has the be THE blue. Take your time! :)

How the hell did I miss this thread?!?! Ack! Yay Freke! If I see anything I''ll let you know!

And yay for solitaires!

I didn't read through all the pages but oh Frekechild, what a fun project! I love fun spinel projects. I bought two spinels that would seem to fit your description from Dan and got it set into a pendant. I have the picture here, is this the type of colour that you are looking for? Dan called one of them a periwinkle spinel. I recall that both of them were relatively inexpensive.

I think Dan has one on his website now.. perhaps he is cutting that one for you?

ETA: Urghh sorry! I had the impression that Dan was just cutting a spinel but I just realised it was a sapphire.

ETA: I read that you are looking up an e-ring too! This is so exciting! Do you like concave cuts? There's quite a lot of new gems on Richard Homer's site that are gorgeous. I have just ordered a lil' pink cushion sapphire for a RHR project..

Perhaps. I think it just needs to be the right stone--one that I love. Too bad I have seen so many stones and it''s hard to tell now. I think there are probably many stones I would be happy with because I just love gemstones. Probably too much...as evidenced by my collection...and the fact that with any spare cash flow I have, I buy more.

I think when it comes down to it, I want it to be a fantastic combination of cut and color.

Gecko Thanks m''dear! I swear, I''m going to have a small army looking for blue spinels before this is all over!!

simplesplendid I do love your spinels--I think they are gorgeous! I''d totally go for something like that. Dan just cut a mostly gray with purple/blue color change spinel into a cushion at my request, and I went ahead and bought it. I should get it Thursday or so...I wanted the grayest stone I could find, and he just happened to have that rough floating around. It appears that he has some Oregon sunstone that he''s cutting now. But he cut the spinel just a few days ago.

I actually am not a huge fan of concave cuts, but it may not be a bad idea to contact Richard Homer too about a traditional cut. I mean, I''ve harassed all the other cutters I''ve come across--why not add Richard to the list?

Bah!
I big puffy heart Richard, LOL. I think you should give him a holler, just in case!

I think I''m going to hold out on Richard for a while. As of now I''m pretty happy with what everyone I''ve contacted so far, but if they don''t come up with something then I''ll hit up Richard and bug Jeff again.

Hey LS, I got pics of more rough...one is a medium blue with violet undertones suitable for a oval, and the other is a lighter grayish blue suitable for a round...

I''m so excited to get my new gray cushion from Dan. I keep hoping it will get here today, but that''s not exactly likely...

Ok, well it's really only one pic...

And I'm hoping that John will have that round cut by today or tomorrow. Which I'm looking forward to. Between this project, my gray cushion, and my *shoe special* I'm getting totally blinged out. I just wish it could happen faster!!!

Anyway, thoughts?

ETA: He thinks that the color on the lighter one is more true to the right center area of the stone....And that the other one won't cut that dark...

Ooooh. I like the darker one, myself, even if it won''t cut that dark.

Ditto. Hoping it may turn out to match your latest avatar shoe color! Sort of a teal.

Hmmm...I''m kind of partial to the one on the right. Peter seems to think that neither is just right (I''m Goldilocks, fyi

) so he thinks I should hold out.

I''m really looking forward to seeing what John''s got up his sleeve though.

And I''m tempted to go check the mail early.

I''ve been hovering around our mailbox like mad, you should totally do it lol. I can''t help it, it''s compulsive! I''m hoping it will be waiting for me when I get home today.

I actually like the right stone better, too. It isn''t nearly as dark, and I bet it will sparkle like mad.

You may have just pushed me over the edge...I''ll be back...

I''m such a bad influence, hah.
Better have pictures if it''s there when you come back!
